G2R Chassis for Revo
I came this close (picture me with thumb and index finger about 1mm from each other) to buying this tonight.
However, I didn't for two reasons: 1) the 1" wheelbase extension makes it longer so a stock Revo body won't fit, right? And 2) I noticed that the front diff housing plate isn't really attached to the chassis. So, I would think this is a weak spot since it relies on the diff housing as a structural member. I noticed it on this picture (upper left corner). Why didn't they make the front plate two pieces?? My main interest is bashing so I was hoping for a stronger design. |
Brian the best chassis for bashing is still probably the stock.
Yeah, but that chassis is sooo pretty! :)
I guess I'll just stick with the stock setup then. I imagine that chassis is for racing with the low CG... |
Yea - it sure is - Mike and I are working on one right now - it is totally off the hook..
Is that THE one Walter?
JMO, the chassis are already really strong as they come, ive crashed into s brick wall at around 30mph and nothing happened. Apart from a broke a-arm and driveshaft:p
Has anyone tried to mount the gmaxx bottom plate to a stock chassis to lower the cog down a little. It is just an idea.

So, does that mean they are suitable for bashing? I just wish they used a continuous plate in the front instead of making two pieces like that. And to get it straight; the extended wheelbase makes it so you can't use a stock Revo body right?

I want pics too! Brian, they are suitable for bashing, just dont bang them into any concrete.

It's times like this that I wish I had my own milling machine so I can come up with my own designs that would merge the properties of the best designs with innovations where I feel there are the shortcomings. Making parts is a bit difficult with a vise, a hacksaw, and dremel tool to work with! That chassis looks more like a racing design with the low CG, but the more I look at it, the more it seems I'd be tearing up the underside from the rocks and stuff that I like to go over. And it's not like I can just run down to my LHS to get a replacement part if something breaks; I'd have to order it special. Oh well, if I decide to start racing or decide to build a pretty shelf queen, I know what to get... |
1 pic - its far from done at this point - Its our project in the works...Click Here for a little peek....
Is that one yours walter. It looks good. I have seen a little more of it though.
HnC what motor is on it
It is a 1950 i can't recall the turn. Sorry HNC.
Dayummm, that is mint! What arms are those? And why all aluminum, just for bling? Does that have stock bulkheads? Do they even make aluminum? Anyways very nice truck!

Its all about the Bling - Although she will be ready to do battle also - might do another one in plastic - I have a couple of nitros and love the way they handle and go - Its going to be a tough decision... But i couldnt have done it without mike. But she is far from done - Will truly be a sight to see when she is done....
hopefully shell be at the get-together
I would have to say - Absolutely....
HnC one question, i have cvds on my revo and for some reason, they bind at a certain point when the suspension is compressed. do those? and what shocks are those? im thinking about getting the msr6 piggybacks. Nice truck by the way!
sylvester, they dont make aluminum bulks for them, yet. flm is currently working on a bulkless system for them right now. they say there gonna be abought the same as the rest of them. $120-$150. |
Simly beautiful, but IMO, that wont be breaking to easily. What a -arms are those? Golden horizons?
Just read your post squee, personally i dont like the piggybacks on a revo, and i cant wait till bulkess comes out
From the pics i seen on it slyvester. I think they have rc logic on the arms. I can look again to make sure.
rc logic? Isnt it Rd-Logic?
RD logics arms - squee - i run cvd's on my all aluminum nitro revo - and they dont seem to bind at all - and they are stock revo shocks - for now anyways....
do you run rd logics?
I am on this one - the arms are totally sweet - Integy on the Nitro Revo
Are the dr-logics arms molded aluminum or machined ?
BrianG this is the single best thing i've done to my Revo, it is currently on hiatus as the evx has gone on strike and can't seem to get it to work. Oh well time to save for brushless, already got the motor, just need the esc
Brian G, just to add to my previous post i have landed on the nose and tail(yes the rear has two pieces to) hard and no damage. The revo bulks are strong enough to handle almost anything you can do to it.so go on ahead and :007:
Cool. I figured it was good for a racer, but was concerned about the bulkhead thing for bashing use. When I first got my nitro Revo, I broke the front bulkeads (among other things) during the first tank after break-in! I tend to be a bit hard on things; the combination of poor driving skills, high speeds, and hard, immovable objects tends to break stuff. :) Still, I'd feel more comfortable if someone would come out with Al bulkheads.
Aluminum hybrids should be out in no time!

Well the lower plate and the X-braces adds a lot of support that the stock revo seriously lacks. When mine was nitro i worried about the chassis bending, that is why i recomend the G2R for bashing, it has support the stock chassis doesn't have and is more bash capable IMO
Yeah, the x-brace really does make the revo rigid, and i bet somehow you can make the front plates one piece, just needs some re-thinking thats all. I think we should see the hybrids out soon enough, it isnt that easy to make them though, ill really love to see what design flm comes out with.
