Yeshobby.com Battman 4s 30c 5000mah

I ordered three of these on Friday the 5th and received them Friday the 12th. I paid 60 dollars a pack. They shipped from China via fedex for free.

I finally got to testing these suckers out today and I am all but too happy with their performance.

To start, I checked their initial voltage on all three and all three were balanced and in good condition. I examined the packs, nice shrink wrap and even plastic on the corners unlike some Zippy's with the exposed cells.

Second, I liked that they are rated at a 2c charge rate, so I placed them in my charger and balanced them at 10 amps. Roughly took 2800 or so on the first charge, which was in about 20 minutes.

I hooked it up to my converted raze (XERun 150a and Kershaw 2075) and walked down to my usual bashing area. I bashed the car hard and held full throttle many times through some of the longer straighter areas. I tested the full throttle from stand point and everything. I got roughly 40 minutes out of the battery before reaching lvc. Motor and ESC were both a bit hot after, I have her geared a bit high, but the pack was moderately warm like most of my lipos get, pack stayed mostly balanced throughout the complete discharge, I think cell four was a bit higher than the rest.

After an hour cool I recharged to full capacity and the pack took just shy of 5000mah and charged in about 35 minutes at 10 amps.

Pros:
Great punch
2c charge rate
come with 5.5 mm plugs
nicely shrink wrapped including both front and back ends
free shipping at hobbycity prices

Cons:
8 gauge wire, sucks for those who haven't/don't run 5.5 mm plugs.
Funny name on pack

Worth the investment:

Hell yes.

suicideneil 03.18.2010 06:24 PM

Holy unheard of lipos Batman!

Those look alright though, and good intial test results. Will look forward to seeing some long term testing but so far so good eh?

I see that they accept paypal which is great, but do they have the option for choosing the price on the shipping label like hobbycity do/ what price was marked on yours?

reno911 03.18.2010 07:47 PM

I just got done running another pack through it's cycle and it held great, 2 out of the three are superb so far.

I don't think you get to choose shipping price due to it being free, then again that is what happened when I purchased them.

JERRY2KONE 03.18.2010 08:20 PM

Fare prices.

Well we all knew it was going to happen at some point. Now with Hobby City and Yes Hobby selling lipo cells at FAIR competitive prices maybe the rest will soon follow. It's about time. Now these are prices that I can live with. Paying $150 to $300 for a 5000 mah battery pack has never sat very well with me. Especially when you know it is probably only costing the makers about 10% of that to make them. I believe that the hay days of Maxcramps will soon come crashing down. Once word gets out about these cells and people start reporting good results with them, who would want to keep going back to MA paying rediculous prices? Not me.

I think what Neil was referring to is the ability to determine what price is put as the value on the package for taxes/duties purposes.

suicideneil 03.18.2010 08:40 PM

^that.

$60 is a good price for sure, but that equates to £40; anything over ~£18 is charged import fees and vat when it arrives in the UK so I'd like to be able to choose the 'value of goods' that is printed on the customs label in order to circumvent customs duties. Highly immoral given how screwed up the goverment's finances are at the moment but, I can live with myself knwing that Gordon Brown aint getting his slice...

Bondonutz 03.18.2010 10:26 PM

I just bought 2, well see ?

Thanks for posting.

nitrostarter 03.18.2010 10:39 PM

Looking forward to seeing more of these tested.

What packs did you get Bondo? And what do you plan to run them in?

Sorry being American I always get so narrow minded. I always assume that everyone on a board is a Yanky...

Anyways I will get some close up photos for everyone in the morning.

And of coarse some more testing. I think I will get the Losi out and do some high speed runs to test the output during those intense pulls. So far they have been a bunch of smiles on my face, I cant get over the 20 minute charge times. Boy I have been missing out on that one with my 1c packs. I couldn't imagine a 3 or 5 C hyperions with their chargers capable up to 15 amps must be ludicrously fast charge times. I think I have found the direction in which I will be taking with my future lipo purchases. I may even swing around to replacing my 4s 2650 Zippy packs with their 2s 5000 hardcases later for my Revo.

big greg 03.18.2010 11:19 PM

hmm, might have to test the 6s 3300's out, about the same price as the turnigys, but if theres free shipping hell yea!

5000mah 4s packs in the link, and will run them in my Hyper 9E and in my 4x4 Slashy. I had lost a Zippy last week and needed a couple more anyway. Price was def right, the original post made them sound to have some promise ?

So true....I am not a racer so I do not need a $150- battery. It's sure nice to see more than one option for affordable li-pos:yipi:. Hopefully they will hold up.

phildogg 03.19.2010 12:33 PM

Not to jack the thread but has anybody here ran the blue lipo over at hobbypartz? I have a 4s 2650 40c and it seems strong. They are out of alot but I have a couple of 2s 5k packs coming. The heli guys seem to like them also.
phil

reno911 03.19.2010 12:56 PM

Those hobbypartz lipos as well as these Battman lipos got me thinking some where along the lines of the Chevy Cobalt and the Pontiac G5. They are the exact same car with a different label. My bet here is that these are the exact same cells from a manufacturer in China, just labeled by a different distributer. Same can be said or Zippy cells, though they have their name on each cell, and I have yet to take apart one of these packs. I just have a feeling though, considering each distributer offers the same size mah packs, and that they are made up of cells with generally the same dimensions. Unlike your Hyperion or Maxamps, where their cells take on much different cell dimensions and such.

Anyways I got to taking some photos of the packs for you all this morning...

big greg 03.19.2010 03:03 PM

i think these are more the dimensions of turnigy cells, blue lipos are a bit shorter

BrianG 03.19.2010 11:31 PM

The wiring looks like Turnigy. Even have that odd kink in the power wires right outside the pack. Do they also have the PCB?

reno911 03.20.2010 02:46 AM

I would say most likely on the board. I think the kink is due to the shrink wrap, most of my packs have that. I have 4 zippy's that I have taken apart to h2o proof and the discharge leads are the same, perpendicular to the pack but kinked with the shrink wrap.

phatmonk 03.20.2010 07:07 PM

Any problems fitting these in battery trays some are over 50mm wide.My 4s 5000 Blue lipo is 50mm wide and barley fits in my Slash 4x4 and way to big for my RCM SC8E tray.

reno911 03.20.2010 09:18 PM

All my RCM battery trays are 52x142 i think, I always had the tray made to the packs. Then just had the same one made about three times for various cars. As for the Slash I dremmelled a bit of the side away to help clear larger packs, and I got rid of the bar and went with straps.

Urgeoner 03.28.2010 09:44 PM

Nice review Reno. So these are righteous packs eh? I might get some then as my budget really isn't all that good atm. I use a Hyperion charger, do I need a special adapter for the balance?

reno911 03.28.2010 09:57 PM

They have jxt or jht whatever the darn name of those balance tabs are. So you would have to get an adapter for hyperion.

V0RT3X 03.29.2010 12:58 PM

Anyone got some IR measurements? That 6S 5000 is tempting for my Flux since it's a bit shorter than Turnigy. Will it be enough for a MMM + Castle 1520 @ 40-45mph? I also want brutal torque.

I think I'll wait for the 40C Turnigies to get back in stock for my 8ight-T and Muggy (also 1520) since I'm not that limited by size.

Bondonutz 03.29.2010 01:04 PM

Just got mine today (2) 4s 5000, what are those clowns in shipping thinking ???

Mine were wrapped in thin bubble wrap and stuffed into old heli canopys and shipped FedEx in a envelope/bag. No damage to lipos but the potential is was high ???

FYI, I seriously beleive these Lipos are reshrinked HC lipos ??

Looking at the pictures, that was my initial thoughts. They are being mass produced by 1 mfg and each company is repackaging them. Like the ESC HC sells. I've seen them under 3-5 different names.

Good to know if true, since Turnigy's kick some ass. Now we don't have to pay outrageous HC shipping costs!!

However, their C ratings are slightly different.

Mine were in a box wrapped individually then inside the fedex bag. All was okay though, just like yours. I worked for UPS I have seen what loaders do to packages especially in the airbays. I am always grateful when anything comes through any of the carriers in good repair.

Quick update, I have about just shy of 10 cycles through each pack now and they are holding well. I do recommend trimming off some of the shrink wrap around the wire exit to let the leads flex. I was out bashing, and on one of the packs the heat shrink cut a nice size hole into the silicone on the leads wire. Pain in the butt to remove the connecter to throw some heat shrink over it.

V0RT3X 03.29.2010 02:34 PM

Ordered the 6S 5000 30C. It better have all the cells in order. I've been reading a thread on RCG about yeshobby and apparently they're slow on shipping.

Are your pack dimensions same as stated? (especially the length)

reno911 03.29.2010 03:03 PM

Their dimensions: 145x52x39

Mine: 143x49-50x35

So I would say they are a bit generous.

suicideneil 03.29.2010 03:13 PM

I'd call that a good thing really.

nitrostarter 04.08.2010 11:03 PM

So how are these cells fairing out? Still good? More people with experience?

reno911 04.08.2010 11:19 PM

Still holding strong, raced them through a few cycles as well. 5 minute heat with 10 minute main. Held up fine. Use the first pack twice for the first heat and main. Charged it at 10 amps between time and never showed any sign of wear. I am completely happy with these packs, I am looking forward to buying more for other applications.

nitrostarter 04.08.2010 11:29 PM

Looks like about the same pricing as Hobbycity tho, shipping is just built in...

Question?

Yes shipping was included, no extra 30 dollars type thing like hobbycity.

nitrostarter 04.08.2010 11:35 PM

It looks like shipping is built in to the price tho.

Example:
Turnigy is $58.50
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=9517

Battman is $88.11
http://www.yeshobby.com/battman-5000...11-p-3200.html

reno911 04.09.2010 12:04 AM

I see what your saying.

They raised their prices since I bought them... That kind of sucks, the 4s packs I got were 60 when I bought them, now they are 70.

V0RT3X 04.09.2010 12:19 AM

My 6S was shipped today. I'll see how it compares to the G3 Hyperions. (if it doesn't arrive DOA)

Jahay 04.09.2010 08:22 AM

vortex do you think the 30c will be enough for your 1520?

V0RT3X 04.09.2010 08:24 AM

I hope so, I will be geared for about 40mph. I'll see how it performs.

Bondonutz 04.09.2010 08:47 AM

I ripped the heat shrink off the 2 I bought, They are IDENTICAL to HC Packs. I reshrinked them w/HC 50mm heatshrink (thick stuff!) but have yet a chance to try them out. Hopefully the following weekend I can get to the track ?

V0RT3X 05.01.2010 03:47 AM

Got it today, 8AWG sucks, I think the connector will desolder itself since I did a shitty job. Reading fine on all 6 cells, charging now. It says max. 1C on mine. Also fits perfect in the DesertboyXL Savage chassis.

Muggydude 05.18.2010 06:00 PM

That pack looks almost identeical to my turnigy 4s 40c 5000 mah pack. Some type of wire, shirnk wrap, balnced wires, and dimensions.
