another ridiculous project!

haha you guys remember the mamba monster and 5s LiPo i droped into a couple radioshack boats last year? if not, here you go:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BQqFZkEhCg

well i've got a new project. dropping a traxxas vxl-3m system into an el cheapo nikko car. should be fun, safer, and cost less too! i've got the perfict place to test it out and everything! every saturday, my local hobbytown sets up a little on road track out in their parking lot for people to just have fun on. nothing that sirious were someone would get mad. should be fun!

What's_nitro? 05.24.2010 07:16 PM

Bye-bye gearbox! :mdr: Should be fun for a few minutes though...

A RC Dude 05.24.2010 10:08 PM

haha yea. i think i've found a way to get rid of the current gearbox and sorta make my own that will hold up. it will be geared to the moon though. really going to have to watch my temps

JERRY2KONE 05.25.2010 12:19 AM

Where is it???

So where is the updated video with a real video camera so we can actually see the boat? It looks like it was a fun project but it would be nice if we could actually see the results.

Anyway this new project sounds like fun as well. I hope you can use a better camera to video tape the testing. Good luck with that.

the better video never happed since the stock driveshaft in the boat broke (even with a direct drive system). thanks for saying something though. i need to edit that part out.

and yes, i will have better videos this time no matter what! my old phone was a 2.0 megapixle camera but the video was actually worse. my new phone is a 3.2 megapixle with a camcorder the seems about as good. so if anything, i can always do that. but i've had a friend or two since then who have said i could use their camera witch would be much better.

space to mount everything will be a little tricky for this build

blueb8llz 05.25.2010 06:49 PM

im curi0us to know which niko vehicle you will be using....

A RC Dude 05.25.2010 09:17 PM

a yellow lamborghini gallardo with slick tires. i had a 2 tyco cars i could have used but i tested their tires and their was no grip at all.

Nard Cox 05.26.2010 05:32 AM

Man, soon you will be able to say:

''Nikko is awesome quality, I have one myself and it goes atleast 50mph / 80 kmph'' :D

Will keep track of your project, sounds like fun.

what scale is that? looks small. What motor/esc you planning on running? You still have the emaxx running?

blueb8llz 05.27.2010 01:56 AM

this is gonna be cool. looks like one crash and the lambo is gonna turn into smitherines. parts look pretty weak heheh

Not sure about the scale. i'd have to guess about 1:16. going to run the mini e-revo's system in it :) and yup, e-maxx is doing great! it's very dependable and durable now (about time!)

yea, deffinatly only getting it up to speed on a newly paved, smooth road!

you can tell, room for everything to fit and grip is going to be hard to find:intello:

rawfuls 05.27.2010 08:57 PM

That's one smalllll motor.
I had a Hummer H1 Nikko that I LOVED.
Hell, I even had that cool little switch that went from High to Low speed that did absolutely nothing.

Then I had to get the RC bug, and start jumping it.
Cracked a wheel arm, no way in hell it's coming back.
It's in pieces in my "Memory" box..

What's_nitro? 05.27.2010 09:04 PM

I had a Nikko Night Rage 1:10 MT probably, oh, about 15 years ago. This was before I knew that NiCd batteries could wear out... LSS, I threw it out 'cause I thought the circuitry went bad inside. Stupid mistake... I loved that truck and I've been trying to find another ever since.

Fast5sRevo88 05.28.2010 02:25 PM

My favorite was the Tyco Rebound.

phildogg 05.28.2010 05:38 PM

I'm trying to get this guy to come out and run with us. can't wait till you finish this project.

A RC Dude 05.29.2010 12:07 AM

haha wow guys. but then again, i loved my little nikko cars at the time. my very first rc car was i think a tyco or nikko revenge or something. at the time i wasn't old enough to read the name right. it was black with yellow suspinsion arms and bumper, little knoby tires, front (maybe rear too) shocks, and it transformed from a monster truck to a stadium truck. that thing was my favorite toy by far at the time. and it ran for a year or 2 before the motor had enough and finnally burned out (that shows you how much i played with that thing).

phil: i'll gladly join you when it's done! but i'm pretty sure we would have to go to that newly paved road close to ray childers elementary to get a long, smooth enough strait for it. after all, this thing had very hard tires, no shocks or anything to absorb a bump, and it's geared to go 90mph

A RC Dude 06.02.2010 06:29 PM

steering linkage is in place:

servo, linkage, front wheels, and reciever in place with the stock cover:

rawfuls 06.13.2010 08:25 PM

A RC Dude 06.14.2010 05:48 PM

simplechamp 06.16.2010 05:19 PM

RC Dude, do you know you can click "export" on the speed calculator, and a little window pops up that allows you to copy and paste the text into your reply here?

It's a little quicker/easier than taking a picture of your screen with a digital cam and posting that.
