Yokomo 4wd buggy
2 Attachment(s)
Finally, the all new, all woven carbon fiber Yokomo MR-4BX 4WD buggy. The spur gear and slipper system are the same as the Assciated B4 and T4 vehicles as well as the shocks and probably few other things. It will be available anytime now. 532 dollars is quite pricy. Like the price of a good 1/8 scale buggy. Too bad you cant use more than 6 cells without mods. There isn't even enough space for a E.S.C such as the MGMs or BKs.
Here are the pics: |
I would say $532 is an outrageously price for that buggy, considering it has no electronics in it and some parts are taken from a T4 (which is half the price). Gonna be very expensive to get one of those set up with brushless.
why are some buggies soooo expensive? lol i dont see much taht is so REVOLUTIONARY!
I have a rising storm that I'm sticking with.
Hey, dont say that its very pricy just because it has some EA parts. This buggy is made in Japan and Japanese machines are VERY pricy. You have not seen anything, yet. Tamiya is- as have been said- working on their own top of the line 4WD buggy which is going to be a double deck CF machine with shaft driven system. I expect it to be nothing less than vigorously expensive. Also, when it comes to electric buggies, I think tamiya is the best. I'm still missing the Top Force Evolution and the Avante.

Well that's about everything.......Hey, Kyubi, what are you doing here?!!
Do you mean the dark impact? I Love tamiya buggies, but I don't know, the dark impact looks a little sloppy with the sloping driveshaft, hidden motor, servo position and I heard it could only use stick packs.
Dark Impact doesn't have any CF though, so I think Tamiya might still have something up their sleeve.
As for the price listed for this buggy, could it just be that: the list price? Very often when a new vehicle comes out, they only list the MSRP of it, not what hobby shops will be able to sell it at. |
Why do you need more than 6 cells? You aren't wanting to go 70 on dirt, are you?
Believe it or not, the list price is over 750 dollars.
wow! thats pritty nice.
with all that carbon fiber how mutch does that weigh? |
RTR= somewhere near 1700+G
wow! thats crazy cool , insted of cells use lipo and make it even lighter!
can you install a brushless set-up on it? |
The controller might be quite big for the chassis, but there will always be a way.
man if i had that truck i would be pritty darn scared to take that of jumps it just looks soo "MINT" that it's better to sit down and stare at it than drive it.:005:
It's a buggy, BTW.
Thats one darn nice buggy, but for the price, imo is a bit too high!
I dont think so, Sylvester. I would say its just as good as a 1/8 buggy with a top notch quality, but the bad thing is that it uses belt driven system and the chassis would not accept more than 6 cells or big controllers for brushless applications. Otherwise, its one nice machine. I cant wait for the Tamiya buggy. By the time the whole japanese manufacturers get back to the 4WD buggy arena, I'm sure that team Associated will start to work on their own 4WD buggy. History is repeating itself, if you ask me.
captn', why do you say that?
What do you mean by' why do you say that'?!! I hope I did not commit another mistake.
I think he ment when you said this " History is reapeating itself" .
yea...sorry for being so vague.
Oh, dont worry. Well, if you were there in the late 70s and early 80s, you'll know that electric 1/10th scale 4wd buggies were the most popular category in the r/c world. AE were the leaders in the field. KYOSHO, YOKOMO and many other manufacturers were fierce rivals, too. However, though Tamiya were not competitive at all, even when they brought out the Avante and the Avante2001( the most advanced buggies at that time and the most expensive) to go against its rivals, their buggies were the most beloved and the most desired to date. From the Frog to the HotShot to the Top Force Evolution to the Avante2001, they're like rare stones today and if you were able to find any of it, it wont be sold for less than 400-500 dollars ( some of it were sold for more than 1700 dollars in auctions, if you can believe it). Those days were the days that r/c electric 4wd buggies were at its peak. Recently, AE are not interested in releasing a 4wd buggy simply because it has no place in the market or so they said. But, with the Japanese companies- after more than 10 years with no 1/10 elec. buggies- are returning back to the stage, I feel that the excitement of the past will return again.
However, 1/10th 4wd buggies wont be as popular because of all the new categories available today from 1/8 buggies to truggies to racing monster trucks. That's what I was trying to keep behind the sentence " history is repeating itself". |
I hope history does repeat itself,i'd love an egress but it'd probably end up sitting on a shelf considering what they're worth.A new Egress or TRF version of the DF-03 would be soooo sweet.I'm thinking of getting a Dark impact and making some CVDs or some stub axles and diff outdrives to use sliders.
The dark impact platform looks like it chould be mega fast, ignorant folks may scoff at the shiny plastic but all i see is a great layout. The only company that i think could make a better buggy than if tamiya really tried is Losi, they already have the platform to do it in the JRXS,someone at Losi is obsessed with getting weight close to the centre line.(LST,8ight,JRXS) |
Its really getting exciting. I'm sure tamiya will bring out a TRF buggy sooner or later. Just wait and see.
Another interestng looking buggy:http://atomic-carbon.gforceimages.net/slim4.htm
Looks kinda like a durango that you may actually be able to buy, except without the dual adj. slipper.Looks like alot of BJ4 bits but with more of a Durango layout. Edit;the thing like about this layout is it has cut outs for 8 cells, reckon i could fit 4s lipo in that thing,a pair of 2s transverse next to each other, scary. |
Thats a nice buggy, on 4s lipo that thing would certainly drop some jaws at the track!
Yummy. Well, lets hope things will get to where it were.
Here's a nice vid of the Yokomo running with a Japanese BMX local champion:

If it did not work, go to: http://www.yokomousa.com/JA_site/new...oducts2006.htm
Scroll down until you see a link to the vid. |
it looks to be very agile and able to do a lot of stuff. pretty tough to
I wonder if it will handle a 1920/8 with 4s lipos!!! The problem is that the chassis is small and narrow which would make the whole process of using lipos and brushless very difficult.
