Cleanest E-Muggy On RCM!!!

Just wanted to post a few pics of my E-MUGGY with out the lid, i finished her up this weekend and tested her out and all i can say is she is quick, im running 2200KV on 6S i was gear much much lower to work with the HPI phatlines but those phatlines just can't handle the speed they blew off very easily which kinda sucks. So i could test it out further i slapped on some GRP 8th scale buggy wheels and geared up.... no one was around with the radar gun but i know this thing was pushing into the 70's with the smaller wheels on it.

Anyways enjoy the pics!!

Anyone one know some truck size tires that don't balloon to hell and rip apart?!?!

nuz69 06.15.2010 04:28 PM

What the hell is this pinion gear in this heavy truck ^^:lol::lol:
35T ? :D
Don't forget to check the temps :angel:

I started with a 16T pinion on with the phatlines but again the wheels sucked, SO i moved to 8th scale buggy wheels and put in a 25T pinion to break even. That heavy puppy was hauling ASS. I put the phatlines back on for the pics but i will not be using that jumbo gear with those big tires , BUT the gear is working well with the buggy wheels. For now anyways until i find a better wheel.

nuz69 06.15.2010 04:41 PM

You mean the wheels vibrated ? unbalanced ?

They physically didn't hold the speed i blew the wheels off the rims the CA glue just cant hold it. Once the wheels balloon the CA lets go!!

bryan 06.15.2010 04:51 PM

Looks great , im getting some things together to convert my sons. That looks like a losi 8ight tray your using? How much did you have to do to the chassis to make it work "extra holes" ?

nuz69 06.15.2010 04:51 PM

Maybe try some good truggy wheels, GRP grip for example if you want to run it off road. Did you let the glue a night at calm ?

Yes, I see your problem - what you need to do is get that thing out in the dirt!

:na: :na:

I have gorilla-taped badlands on my e-muggy and I'm able to get it very dirty.

for the battery tray nothing was drilled the rear holes lined up fine with the motor mount holes in the chassis. The front hole ALMOST lines up with a hole already in the chassis its about 2MM off but with a 4MM screw threw the hole not only does it clear the hole perfectly it threads itself into the tray on its way up. All in all i only added one hole to the chassis and that was for the radiobox. Pretty simple and clean. I used the ofna radio box for a factory look.

Oh NO NO NO, im not that that type of guy!!! im only using this thing for the street i have no plans on taking it offroad for bashing. I like parking lot bashers im not into the offroad thing unless its true offroad 8th scale racing. (which i have a E-808 for)

FYI center diff is locked.

putz......

Just Kidding...kinda.....nice ride. Hardened Chassis?

Definitley watch those temps. I've got mine geared 52/18 with a 1520 on 6S, and it ran right at 140 this last time out - too high for me, so I'm dropping gears.

You need to Duct tape the tires. That will keep them from ballooning and solve your problem

brian015 06.15.2010 06:55 PM

And btw - very nice-looking set-up.

I tryed that years ago with a 60+MPH nitro revo i had, the duct tape tape trick worked but it was a hit and miss, sometimes the duct tape would snap and pretty much make that one wheel worthless and balloon while the others wouldn't. If thats was a problem at 60+ MPH with a nitro truck............i doubt they'll last more than one pass on a brushless set up.

My plan for now is just to stick with the buggy wheels, sure it looks a little weird but this way i can drive the car since most of my other cars are pretty much useless to me since the park me and my friends are currently going to has a pretty horrible potholes all over the place. The muggy really does soak up everything the street can dish out while my 8th scale buggies are unpredictable and with the speeds they are pulling any small crash is going to be pretty devastating . Until me and my friends find a better street MUGGY is my carro numero uno!

Jahay 06.21.2010 05:25 AM

i know what you mean... I taped my badlands and it worked great till one let go... Now two have let go and my truck is all over the place.

I will not tape again, but i will need to find some wheels that do not balloon which i think is impossible for 1/8 scale truck wheels.

Anyone know anything that doesnt balloon? baja tyres? decent truggy tyres?

nuz69 06.21.2010 05:32 AM

Maybe the truggy GRP grip can do the job. They are perfect balanced stock and balloon not much, but I doubt it will be OK with your 9S 1600 Kv setup :lol::lol:

You need to try the Gorrilla Duct tape. I had a similar issue using 3m duct tape but with the Gorilla tape No problems at all. Its thicker and stickier

nitrostarter 06.21.2010 03:52 PM

GRP needs to make a truggy tire just like the Rally combo for buggies, then its over and done with on tire issues.

DCastaneda 06.21.2010 04:03 PM

Nitrostarter. Think outside the box. There are proper size tires on the market, Just need a little modifying to make them fit. Miamiz knows what I'm talking about. :na:

Enlighten my mind please sir...

Jahay 06.21.2010 04:13 PM

please enlighten me too :) i need this asap

DCastaneda 06.21.2010 04:16 PM

In due time, gentlemen. I'm sure Miamiz will post up an update when he gets off his arse and mounts them up. In the meantime, Here's my almost done muggy conversion:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...2/IMG_2198.jpg

Oh and i don't know what Miami'z was talking about with the losi tray almost lining up No way that was lining up for me without bending the crap out of the tray. I chose to mount it on the rear nitro holes (need to move the ESC inward a little bit from the pics) and simply drill/countersink a new hole up front. I also chose the Losi receiver/servo tray because i had it lying around (I stole it off one of my 8ights  )

DCastaneda 06.21.2010 05:21 PM

I know how you did it, Smartass. it was still too far off on mine. Maybe the hardened chassis you have has the pipe mount a little bit closer to lining up.

JThiessen 06.21.2010 06:10 PM

It lined up for mine also - but I used a V1 tray (didn't have that dog leg on it).

nuz69 06.21.2010 06:14 PM

Hello,
I like the heavy large tires ;) Are the diffs helical on the Losi muggy ?

DCastaneda 06.21.2010 06:25 PM

Idk, all i know is that it DID thread in but the tray was bent upwards in the middle which looked ghetto rigged. So I moved it back and drilled a new front hole.

@ Nuz, Don't think the muggy diffs are helical.

MiamizFinest 06.21.2010 06:35 PM

Got some spare used muggy diffs laying around, cracked them open to take a pic. There slightly helical.

Nice man, i see you used the hole already in the muggy chassis to secure the tray in place right??? very nice!

BTW who makes that motor mount??? looks like the RCM but its black??

DCastaneda 06.21.2010 10:26 PM

Mine is black too, Luke. All i need is the stupid 4mm endbell adapter.

bryan 06.21.2010 10:29 PM

Thats Mikes motor mount ,they come black now.I think it looks cool with the black CASTLE 2200 Emaxx motor. The losi tray wet in pretty smooth and i did drill one hole in the chassis for r/x box that i wasnt happy about.Other than that I'm very happy, and you should see my boys face.

DCastaneda 06.21.2010 10:35 PM

i guess I'm the only one whose tray didn't fit right. U gave me a bent chassis, Miamiz, LOL.

Dam it!!! i want a black motor mount now!, the bronze is nice but black is always better!!!

Yes danny you are correct i gave you a bent chassis on purpose, its all part of my master plan to sabotage you and your RC dreams, also on weekends i like shoot at puppies for fun........HAHAHAHA

Your chassis isn't bent smartass lord knows what your doing wrong!! Go back to the drawing board amateur!!!! LOLOL J/k :rofl::rofl::rofl:

Um.. Yeah..

DCastaneda 06.21.2010 11:06 PM

No homo.

I do need a better chassis though, in the meantime I'm trying to keep the stocker from bending. Think i have enough bracing?:

nuz69 06.22.2010 02:15 AM

Thx Miamiz, indeed they are a little helical.

MiamizFinest 06.22.2010 09:36 AM

Forgot i took this pic while at the park with the truck, the buggy wheels on such a big truck look a little funky but very practical.

DCastaneda.. que te pasa man? Un chiste es un chiste. Solamente con las palabras. No es personal.
