Looks like a TenT on a 8ight chassis with buggy wheels.

I like the price(419.99).I hope it has interchangeable parts with the 8ight buggys
|
I think one of these and the 4x4 SC that they are prototyping are going to be my arsenl for next summer

there was talk of releaseing a lighter weight small block powered 8th scale buggy to race with and win the fuel mileage game by a huge margin without being terribly down on power due, i believe it was drake talking about this a couple years ago in some interview saying they were thinking of running small blocks to get nearly a %50 increase in fuel mileage which is a big deal at the pro level.
so i wander if we'll see a pro version raced by some of the team drivers just to see if its possible to not be at a disadvantage with a smallblock powered 8th scale. |
and this is for sure the base of their knew sc truck, which i dont think is very fair because then it will open up the whole can of worms about not allowing 8th scale based trucks race with the slash, jammin, and hyper. Case in point an sc8 with an rc8 chassis is not legal but losi's new 810 with bumpers and sc body will be???? ......
|
wheelbase is almost 3/4" shorter than the 2.0 and overall length is about 2" shorter than the 2.0 according to losi website. like the sub 6 pound wieght, but smacks of losi's long habbit of frankenstien cars made up of older models and radom leftover parts. good entry level gasser but dont call it an 1/8 scale if its obviously smaller. i agree with the sc comment above, make your own "origional" sc that follows the same rules everyone else abides by. close freind has an sc8 w/buggy chassis and club races it. complete advantage over any sc on the track.

This buggy would be awesome on short tight tracks because it's a little bit shorter |
pretty much a ten-10 version of a 1/8 buggy

easy killers, i think they just shouldnt call it an 8th scale..... call it a 9th scale or somthing if its not the same size as the eight i thought it was the same size i didnt bother reading much on it.
im also taking 1000mg of vicodin and 100mg of tramadol every 6 hours so ive been kinda out of my head since surgery tuesday. they should call it the Nine-B. |

And the rc8 in the SC class has the issue of being to BIG...not to small....nowhere in the rules is there a MINIMUM size....there is only a MAXIMUM size And last time i checked lighter buggies would be at a disadvantage because they will be harder to keep the power down and will slide alot..... If you read some info from losi or watch horizons video's this was NOT meant to be a race vehicle, it was meant to be a budget friendly 1/8 rtr buggy. so why are you complaining about it being to "small"(hard to be too small when there is no minimum size requirements) for?....i HIGHLY doubt that you are going to see people going out and buying these to compete in racing events |
if they named it the nine b they can take the thing and make it into whatever the heck they want to next.... but i was saying others will raise hell because its labeled as a 8th scale .... i honestly dont care
id rather the sc class be some what different than racing my 8th buggy, maybe they should outlaw center diffs, thatd make it a little more interesting. |
all im sayin is its rediculous to say no to one class cause a car is bigger(mostly weight wise) and yes to another where the car is smaller and waaaaaaay lighter. pretty blatent double standard if you ask me.
rootar: relax and get well dude, in the meantime enjoy being comfortably numb! |

Where as a smaller car will not be able to fit the same amount of power in it....the 3.4 will not make half of the power that a good modded .21 or .28 will make. and if you try to stuff a big motor in this car it will just slid all over the place and be at more of a disadvantage |
and btw there might not be a minimum size but there is a minimum wieght, 3200 grams so its about 1000g shy. not complainin, i could care less honestly, its a matter of principal. and what exactly does larger mean? bigger componets? a sc body fits perfectly on an 1/8 scale buggy based sc.
|
losi: what are you still harping on? im lost
|
dont know about more power, in mod sc any mod motor is allowed. for example jeremy kortz runs an exceleron 1/8 scale system in his 4x4 sc truck. by that logic it should have more power to weight than a similar 1/8 setup
|
guys we are sooo far off topic, i guess im too blame, all i meant was that they messed up marketing it as an 8th scale, thats all. there is plenty of guys to argue with over on rc-tech about 4x4 sc trucks. no since in doing it here.
altough i do think........ lol |
Whatever guys i'm done in here.....
I'm still going to probably buy one of these, still probably going to run it in 1/8 scale buggy, at a local club track where people don't seem to be as picky as they are on here then when losi releases there 4x4 SC based on the 10t....i'll buy one of those and race it aswell.. |
I do hope the sc version of this truck is the best thing since sliced bread because all the jammin and hyper sc pilots around here need every new advantage they can get to get on pace with me and my good ole pos traxxas! it is funny but also serious.
|
thats great dude have fun with it, thats was racing is about. not being picky, section 5 of the rules state classes are difined by scale, that is why i see a conflict where a car can be legal in 1/8 and 1/10. which one is it? sorry if i came on strong but i race alot and people are that picky here in so-cal, even at the club level. personally i think its cool to see an affordable 1/8 scale rtr. will bring more people to the hobby, but like i said with as strict as the rules are seems like they are bending the rules to favor losi if it will be legal to race a 1/10 sc based on a 1/8 buggy, based on a 1/10 truck. no?
|
all fun aside, it really doesnt follow the rules. minimum weight is 3200g nevermind all the other B.S., its not a race vehicle, it is a race vehicle.... whatever just make sure you actually read the rules before you quote them guys, hate to be the jerk, but sometimes its so easy.
P.S. if they do decide to base a 4x4sc on the ten-t 810 whatever the heck you want to call it, its waaay out of spec as defined in open 4wsc IN THE RULES... quote the raven "and never more" |
Wonder if the longer chassis will solve all those woes with everyone making the Ten T into a SCT.
|
according to the dimension limits it will need a longer chassis and narrower suspension arms to get closer to being legal according to the goobers at roar. keep a copy of the rulebook on my laptop so i have it while at the track and people start to tell you whats what. as long as they play by the rules i think it would be a great sc truck. but at the same time how can a 1/10 platform be a legal 1/8 car but a 1/8 cant be a legal 1/10? also an rc8 based sc would be legal as long as it ran a 05 size motor and 2s lipo if anyone cares. seems like roar need to actually have rules that prevent jerks like me finding loopholes and flaws.
|
To be legal in 1/8 buggy class all it would need is a little weight added t it. Nice part about that is you can add it where you want it to help with handling.
I personally have no love for Losi, but this looks like a great entry level decent quality kit. I seriously doubt that any club races would have an issue with running it. Most of the sportsman classes around here let you run any 1/8 RTR buggy if you are running it stock as purchased. I doubt anyone racing in a expert or pro class would be running this kit. The part that makes me smile is the RCM Ten-T conversion kit should be a bolt on conversion for this buggy as well. I'll probably pick one up and convert it with the Ten-T kit and race it this winter indoors with a 2 or 3s setup. Probably will be a fun lightweight low cost buggy. I always wanted to get a Ten-T but never really thought i would use it enough to justify it. This I would use. |
Jhautz, I have been thinking that same thing, that the RCM conversion would work. If and when you get it done could you post some pictures and let us know your experience. I would be very appreciative.
|
well to me it looks fun, stock it weighs about as much as my carbon 8ight im sure i will pick up the frist cheep roller i find
