Xray XT8-E '09

Picked up this '09 XT8 a couple of months ago knowing I wanted to run a electric truggy for next year and since my Xray T3 works so well on the carpet I knew xray was the way to go for the dirt as well. Just got the conversion a couple of days ago, so it was time to convert her over. The conversion is really well built, everything went together smoothly, awesome job Mike:yipi: I also went for the optional receiver box which cleans all the electronics up nicely. Im going to run a Tekin RX8 with the 2250 truggy motor on 4s. I picked up a 16t pinion but I have no clue of thats going to work well or not, any suggestions? The body is the Bulldog for the MBX6T. Anyways here are some pics, and yes I know I need to lower the rear body mounts:na:

I love that Bulldog body!!

The car looks clean, you'll enjoy running it ;)

76Bentley 09.29.2010 03:24 PM

Man that thing looks awesome, I think the body looks fine as it. Great Job!

SavageCanadian 09.30.2010 10:23 PM

Thanks guys, the motor system should be here early next week so I can get it dialed in before the season comes to a close.

magman 10.01.2010 06:56 PM

very nice indeed. Mike does make THE best conversion kits around...often duplicated but never replicated.

SavageCanadian 10.05.2010 05:41 PM

Well I got the motor system mounted up and programmed. Hopefully the 16T pinion is ok for the first test. I also lowered the rear of the body and it looks even better now:yipi: Just need to put it on the setup station and then get it on the track:great:

Nice Looking truck! Gotta love XRAY! I am running 5s with a 1550kv motor, I am geared 14/46 and am still messing around with that new timing feature in the software. I dont really think there is an exact setup for everyone, but you might want to give the speed calc a try. http://scriptasylum.com/rc_speed/

SavageCanadian 10.06.2010 06:29 PM

Thanks guys, do you know any plastic mod1 spurs that fit the xray center diff?

feistyacorn 10.07.2010 11:54 AM

Do yourself a favor and pickup a Slipperential. Mike offers delrin gears and it will save your entire drive system. A friend’s Losi without Slipperential is looking at new drive pins after one season of racing.

SavageCanadian 10.08.2010 06:50 PM

Does the Slipperential really make that much of a difference?

yes it does, it takes the shock out of the drive train when landing junps while still on the throtle.

if mike made one that i could keep my torsion diff i would run one for sure

It's really a nice tuning option and it helps save the entire drive system. I run one in my XT8 and Gorillamaxx. Just make sure you get the real deal from RC-Monster and not the cheap fake one. :intello:

SavageCanadian 10.16.2010 06:55 PM

Well I took it out for its first test run today and it did really well. The chassis flies nice and neutral. Im defiantly impressed and I have yet to put it on the setup station. I can defiantly see were the slipperental would be nice to help smooth out the power. I will have to pick on up over the winter for next year.

SavageCanadian 03.05.2011 03:56 PM

Just ordered the slipperential finally, anything setup wise with it I should know?

 I guess it probably depends on what the track condition is like. I am running 5k-7k-3k for diff oil in my setup (similar to yours). Did you get the steel gear or the delrin gear?

SavageCanadian 03.07.2011 05:23 PM

I got a 50t delrin one, the steel is so noisy that I thought it might help, and I have had good luck with plastic spurs when I had my 4x4 SC. I think I will probably put either 7 or 10k in it and go from there,

feistyacorn 03.07.2011 05:32 PM

Cool! It will be interesting to hear your results. I was thinking that I would give the delrin a try sometime. What is loud for brushless doesn’t compare to nitro.

True but the sound of a nitro engine sounds way better then 2 noisy gears going by on the straight.:mdr:

Hi, the delrin one you picked is for the slipperential or for the stoch differential? because I'm sarching for a compatible Spur for stock differential. Kyosho ones do not exactly direct fit, and I don't want to have silicone leakage.
Have heard about AE ones
Anyone knows?

Thanks

SavageCanadian 03.11.2011 08:13 PM

I am replacing the center diff with a slipperential, as far as I know AE plastic spurs will fit the xray diffs, you just need the ae orings for the spur as well.

el tomaso 03.17.2011 01:16 AM

The truggy is just beautifull, and with the slipperential it will be perfect in every way!

SavageCanadian 03.28.2011 02:19 PM

Thanks, will have a couple of pics of the truck with the slipperential installed soon. Gearing is 14/50, which I think should be good for around here, 16/48 was to tall.

Looks great! Hows that delrin gear working? Silent?

Chadworkz 03.29.2011 06:55 PM

Awesome truck! I have an XRAY XB808 2010 Spec Buggy and a 2009 Spec Buggy, both with Mike's BL Conversion kits on them, and it just doesn't get any better! A soon as the new XRAY Truggy comes out, I am going to buy it, then wait on Mike to make a conversion for it!!!

XRAY really is the finest in radio control, they make the absolute best parts & vehicles...IMO!

gtxracer 04.09.2011 11:50 AM

Any updates on this truck? The layout is so clean, so simple.

SavageCanadian 04.30.2011 03:19 PM

Well im taking it out to its first race tomorrow and I cant wait, picked up a hudy 1/8 setup station so once i dial it in it should be a bullet.

SavageCanadian 05.02.2011 01:20 PM

Well ran it yestorday, its definatly a lot quieter with the delrin spur. The truggy is crazy fast, I was .4 of a second off beating the track record on a dirt track and half worn out tires. Love this truck:yipi:

SavageCanadian 02.01.2012 08:34 PM

This truck is up for sale, anyone interested email me at savage25canadian@hotmail.com

Chadworkz 02.17.2012 06:36 PM

Sorry you have to get rid of such an awesome truck...maybe you can build a new one sometime in the near future!
