My Brushless Racer Emaxx Light Weight

3 Attachment(s)
weighs about 9.5 lbs with body on, has very good handling, awsome racing machine

MetalMan 04.12.2006 09:55 PM

That's pretty good, especially considering that you could remove even more weight!

squeeforever 04.12.2006 10:09 PM

really nice truck! yes, metalman is correct. removing 4 shocks, different rims and tires, shifting servo and or single speed conv. could make this truck really light.

luvsrc 04.12.2006 10:09 PM

thanks squee and metal !!!!

luvsrc 04.12.2006 10:13 PM

i do really agree ,what kind of wheels and tires do you guys suggest and will the single speed from gorilla maxx fit into this? the chassis is from extreme racing company any suggestions are welcome and thanks!! can four shocks handle it? what kind of spring ? can i just remove the other four shocks ( i'm currently using big bore shocks) and get a different spring if so where? ( any link?) and links for the tires and wheels as well by the way with the chassis it is 1 inch longer than the stock

squeeforever 04.12.2006 10:18 PM

yes, the single speed will work. i would go for the proline velocity 40s, dace 23mm hubs, and crime fighter tires. also, 4 shocks can handle it. it just takes heavy duty springs. i used trinitys.

i would try these springs: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHWJ7&P=7

run these tires: http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...PRO1122&cat=42

these rims: http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...2678-02&cat=42

and these hubs: http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...03223BK&cat=42

maxxdude1234 04.13.2006 03:55 AM

I've got that chassis too luvsrc, it really does handle very well. Definately loose 4 shocks, and get the single speed conversion. It'll make it handle even better.

How do you like the team orion platinums?

captain harlock 04.13.2006 05:48 AM

Impressive! you're still using the Hacker car controller?! Can I find one like it in e-bay?

boss 302 04.13.2006 06:09 AM

looks good how do you like the orion lipos

luvsrc 04.13.2006 05:28 PM

the team orion lipos are everyworth of money, the punch is amazing and the power delivery is a lot smoother than any sub c cells i've used, temps on the whole system motor 108F, controller 104 F, lipos are only 88F , i did run it for about 8 minutes and i know that i can get more run time but the hacker speed controller has no built in cut off voltage can anyone give me a link and info on how to set up a cut off device? it has an actual voltage of 8.26 volts per pack before i started running it. for a total of 16.52 volts, after running it for 8 minutes it still has a total voltage of 15.44 volts amazing!!! can't wait to kick off and eat any nitro on the race track!!!

MetalMan 04.13.2006 06:59 PM

You can use this device as a cutoff:
http://66.241.195.91/lithium/lithium.asp?path1=lithium
It connects to the full voltage of both batteries, and goes inbetween the receiver and the controller's receiver wire.

squeeforever 04.13.2006 07:14 PM

metalman, what kind of pulse does it give off? a weak or strong motor pulse? if its a weak pulse i would be concerned about not noticing. should this really be a concern?

coolhandcountry 04.13.2006 07:21 PM

I think dafni is running this cut off squee.

luvsrc 04.13.2006 09:41 PM

thanks for the link, how to connect the wires to the two packs? any diagram or help is very much appreciated, so it slows down the truck whan the device starts to kick in?

I don't know. I would imagine that if it would be noticable to a guy flying an airplane, then it should be noticable on a car. But, let's do wait to hear what Dafni says about it.

Serum 04.14.2006 01:33 AM

I thought it halves the power.

it that is the best way to get the voltage above the 3.0 V again..

JOHNNYMAXXIMA 04.14.2006 02:22 AM

That is the same LVC that Mike recomended to me. He said that he was going to start to cary them but the company hasn't got back to him yet. I think I will end up getting me a couple of these as well.

nl12 04.14.2006 06:17 AM

Do i need a lvc for my lipos or can I use the MGM's lipo settings and run without one?

MetalMan 04.14.2006 07:54 AM

You can use MGM's Lipo cutoff. IMO, the best part of the MGM controller besides the smooth acceleration is the Lipo cutoff, since it cuts at 3.1v/cell, and can be a hard or soft cutoff.

Dafni 04.14.2006 09:02 AM

The cutoff signal from the LiSafer is impossible to oversee! When the voltage drops below 3V per cell, under hard acceleration, it makes the truck stutter.
It's a rather harsh signal, if you ask me.

coolhandcountry 04.14.2006 03:34 PM

Well I guess if it do all that it is hard to not notice. Thanks daf.

Dafni 04.14.2006 03:49 PM

I think because it kicks in first under hard acceleration when the pack is near empty, it's pretty save to finish the lap going easy. After all, it measures the voltage under the most drop. So I hope it's fine to drive a few more yards slowly.

Yes, hard to not notice indeed, Leroy. Almost too harsh a stutter, I must admitt. I't doesent brake, but it goes to zero throttle for some pulses. Stutter might be a good word. I would guess 0.5sec pulses. And when you release the throttle, you can accelerate smooth again without it kicking in.

I hope anybody elses LiSafer does the same. I fear I use it on a pretty amp hungry setup. The voltage drop still seems to be pretty noticeable. Would love to use an Eagletree or something on this truck once.

DAF

MetalMan 04.14.2006 03:58 PM

Some time I should buy the LiSaver and hook it up to one of my cars with the Eagle Tree MicroPower set up with the RPM sensor to give a graphical view of how the device operates and to show how well the cutoff actually works (in terms of voltage).

Dafni 04.14.2006 04:04 PM

Yeah, do this Metalman. Would be cool to know.
I wish I had a small Eagletree...

MetalMan 04.14.2006 04:06 PM

They're only $70 USD!

Serum 04.14.2006 04:06 PM

I will bring mine Daniel..

no worries..

It won't take that long.. :p

stampy 04.14.2006 04:17 PM

hey luvsrc have you made a decision on wheels and tires yet if not i wanna throw my opinion in there i think a 40 series wheel and tire is just to big for a standard wheel base truck if i were you id go with a velocity standard wheel and ether crimefighter mts,boe-tie mts, or from panther the komodo dragon tires, thats my thought any way

His is about an inch longer than stock if its the Extreme bl chassis, but i like the smaller tires for racing as well, it takes some of the stress off the drive train

stampy 04.14.2006 08:07 PM

i just think it looks way better ;)

luvsrc 04.15.2006 04:02 AM

i think i willl go for a smaller tire, it eases out the stress for the drivetrain, the single speed tranny is out of stock at this time, can some one tell me any experience for the single speed tranny? yes mine is the extreme bl chassis, i'm gonna order a stiffer spring to take 4 shocks off, i already order the lvc that 's being recommended here, thanks for all the input guys:027:

coolhandcountry 04.15.2006 03:31 PM

The single speed is tough. I had a 2250 lehner on it with 26 cells. It would shear the pegs off on the slipper and not break.

luvsrc 04.16.2006 04:12 AM

great i will have that single speed for sure by the way here's some pics with a body on it:

Mike.L 04.16.2006 05:43 AM

nice truck luvsrc,
where did you get those rims can you post up the site from where you got them?

or just tell me the kind/name it is

THANKS!;p

Sylvester 04.16.2006 05:48 AM

I was gonna get that body, too! It looks really nice, are those aluminum rims?

squeeforever 04.16.2006 10:30 AM

im pretty sure those are plastic, sylvester.

why not lower the body? it looks like you can lower it an inch or more.

There are probably clearance issues with the rear arms and the body. That chassis really needs an extended wheelbase body.

squeeforever 04.16.2006 02:57 PM

oh, i see what your saying now. yea, that kinda sucks. i found that a mgt body fit my jt havoc nicely of course it was a tad wide but it covered the exhaust.

maxxdude1234 04.16.2006 03:03 PM

I've got the same chassis as luvsrc, and I've currently got a LST crowd pleazer body on it. The wheelbase is fine, but the body is very long, high and wide (covers the chassis nicely though). I quite like the look of the new pleazer for the X1 CRT - on paper the specs look good; the wheelbase and width are the same as the LST pleazer, but its much less high and a good deal shorter. Probably gonna look at the CRT pleazer for my next body.

luvsrc 04.16.2006 03:05 PM

the wheels are plastic TRC made it i got it from my lhs, it's a pre painted body from traxxas i think it's called detonator?, i can lower the body some more, may try that next time
