New Traxxas Products

So most of you have probably seen the new Traxxas Rally VXL. While checking out the rally forum on the traxxas board, I ended up running across some interesting things from Traxxas that were in photos by XRC mag.

Very interesting and surprising to say the least. Finally Traxxas releases something worth a damn. I aint parting with my Flux though unless i'm REALLY impressed but even then, my Revo experience has left a bad taste in my mouth for all things Traxxas

josh9mille 10.21.2010 12:24 AM

ugh......im soo tired of "tiny rc vehicles". I never thought anything smaller than 12th scale was cool. I went bashing with a guy who had a mini erevo. that thing was completely stupid, would get stuck on uneven powdery dirt. Lame

Freezebyte 10.21.2010 12:55 AM

Dude Traxxas is the Wal-Mart of the RC community. Crap loads of cheap of american designed, chinese made RC products sold for a low price point with tons of marketing that excites and convinces everyone to buy their products that are at best, decent as a jack of all trades and good at none of them with substandard service to back back them up.

ZippyBasher 10.21.2010 01:32 AM

Freeze half right. Some good some bad... Rustler/Slash good <Maxx Stampede Bad LOL

But why!?!? Mustang body in 1/16?? DAMNIT!! We want slayer sized 'Stang bodies. I would trade the WRX anyday 22x12"

reno911 10.21.2010 01:42 AM

The Rustler is most likely a design based on the Slash 4x4...

I think the Mini Revo/Slash Platform is officially over abused now...

I want new not redone.

One 1/10 onroad please.

Oh and when the hell will Traxxas do a 1/8th scale?

whitrzac 10.21.2010 01:53 AM

never...

I do like that mini summit though:neutral: for a elcheapo like me it might be affordable:angel:

nitrostarter 10.21.2010 07:50 AM

I'm over the mini craze as well. Had a mini revo and had fun with it in parking lots only, which got old!!

When the rally car was released, I called it. "Watch the release a Monster Energy/Ken Block edition."

I do like the look of the Summit, makes me wonder if the diffs will be lockable and what overall gear ratio they ended up with.

reno911 10.21.2010 09:25 AM

Ehh, crawling is long and gone in my area. I have a bunch of designated bashers. I have a drifter. All has been seen and done.

Now the WOW that the 4x4 Slash and the Original Slash brought to the table. Sign me up for more of that.

So its just a 4x4 Slash with Stampede tires on it.....another "big" Traxxas release......wooohooo......:whip:

josh9mille 10.21.2010 10:37 AM

so all the cool things that make a summit a summit (2 speed trans, locking diffs) are not on the mini summit. Its just a mini erevo with a summit body and wheels/tires. SWEET!

:grrrrrr:

nitrostarter 10.21.2010 10:51 AM

I really need to get a job in Traxxas's engineering department...

josh9mille 10.21.2010 11:12 AM

makes me wonder just how long traxxas is going to ride the coattails of the revo platform. They havent had anything really exciting since the revo came out in 04. The summit was kinda exciting, but only because of the remote locking diffs.....its still basically a revo. Traxxas needs a new sales gimmick. Something that makes the revo platform seem like the maxx platform. Not that i would ever buy it if they did, but at least something worthy of reading about while im on the john.

Well sort of, the chassis is shorter and narrower, with the slash drivetrain and steering. I was planning to get a 4x4 and convert it to a truggy/MT of sorts, now i don't have to, wonder if the center diff will fit? Now we need an E-jato to complete traxxas's domniation of the rc world, i love the mustang

Did you find spec sheets somewhere? I didn't hear him say that.....

reno911 10.21.2010 01:16 PM

Well that Stampede is pretty nice but still not completely new. I may have to get the parts to convert my wifes slash to that thing. She would like the more off road type of truck with her driving style.

skellyo 10.21.2010 02:48 PM

You guys can bash the new Traxxas stuff all you want, but they sell the heck out of it. Ever check out the Top 25 products sold on Tower? At least half of them are Traxxas. Traxxas would quit selling products based on older platforms if they weren't making money on them.

BrianG 10.21.2010 02:52 PM

I don't understand the hate for the Revo platform. After all, aren't just about all b/truggies based on the same platform as well? Not that I have a special amount of love for the Revo platform, just curious about the bias against it.

reno911 10.21.2010 02:53 PM

I am not bashing. I love Traxxas, half of my RC's are Traxxas. I just wish they would keep doing what they do best, remake Radio Control.

I.E. 1/8th Traxxas Buggy, imagine that. It would probably change things again. Oh and trust me I would buy one.

Edit: Revo Platform - I loved my E-Revo, I just got tired of the two battery set ups, single pack set ups are simple in my eyes.

If they came out with a single battery revo I would get another one.

IMHO Traxxas sells lots of stuff because they have a good marketing department. I mean look at all the crap they sponsor: monster trucks, motocross, Kawasaki team green, fullsize short course, etc. Magazines are full of thier ads, those magazines give them awards because they pay for lots of advertising, and now i hear you can buy Traxxas stuff at Pep Boys. Their marketing guy is truly a genius, but that does not mean they make a superior product. They make products that are flashy, traxxas name on motorsports vehicles, bikes etc so they appeal to kids. they are just like that other company we all know of that has marketing/ads out the wazoo, but how is that product?

Why do you have such a bad taste in your mouth from Traxxas? It's pretty cut and dry, if you don't like the company, don't buy their products. But really, there's no need to complain about them on the forum here just for the sake of airing your personal opinions.

reno911 10.21.2010 03:59 PM

I believe that they make a good product and sell the hell out of it. Nothing wrong with that. Same can be said for lots of things.

That avatar is too distracting...

I have had 3 traxxas trucks, 2 tmaxx's and 1 erbe. All 3 were complete piles of garbage. I thought maybe the 3rd time would be a charm so i bought the erbe. I couldnt drive that thing withought something breaking. Some people do have good luck with thier stuff but it sure wasnt me. Im just too hard on stuff, I like to have fun and see how high i can jump and how hard i can land. Traxxas stuff just isnt made for that IMO.

And i was only explaining how they sell soo much stuff. Its marketing.

Same reason that Wal-Mart sells more shit, its cheaper for lower income/welfare americans. Not that theres anything wrong with it, its just simpley a larger market, no different why there are LOADS of Ford Escorts and Honda Civics on the streets vs Lexus and Infinity luxury vehicles.

Last I looked, voicing ones opinion wether it be negative, postive or neutral wasn't against the US law. But hell, in Florida, who knows.

nitrostarter 10.21.2010 08:11 PM

I just played with the Rally car at the LHS. Its definitely a drift car on carpet!! He fit it with a 1/12th scale wedge body on it. Should be a killer high speed car...

Mostly cause my experience with my Revo 3.3 equaled it to being a royal POS in my case. Plastic parts broke all the time, design layout was crap, diffs kept leaking and ripping seals, 3.3 engine couldn't hold a tune worth a crap.

And iv'e seen my friends little stock Stampede XL-5 break more then my two Fluxs combined! So don't say to me that I don't have experience with Traxxass's products.

Blanket statements about their products being garbage are useless when you've only owned 2 different trucks from their lineup. I think you'll find that most people that have owned a Rustler, Stamped or Slash think they're tough as nails and probably the most durable trucks on the market for their style (stadium, 2wd monster and 2wd SCT). I know if I were going to buy a RTR truck to really beat on, it would be a Traxxas. I'm not saying the trucks you owned weren't bad trucks, but basing your opinion of all their vehicles on 2 of the multitudes of vehicles they make isn't nearly enough of a sample to justify a blanket statement like you've made.

I agree, but when the 2 trucks i owned are the 2 most popular r/c vehicles in the history of r/c, it is actually saying quite a lot. But yes it is just my opinion. I will say this much.....traxxas is an innovative company. They did revolutionize the MT market. But it still does not mean they make high quality stuff. Sorry if i hit a nerve.

No, not a nerve at all. I'd just like to see folks on the forum a little less demeaning towards products they've never actually experienced/owned. For instance, if you bought a Ford Focus and it was a lemon, does that mean every Ford product is a lemon and they make nothing of quality? Absolutely not. While I understand it's an opinion, if you influence someone to stay away from that brand because of your experience with a different model of their products, you could be leading someone away from a product that would suit them perfectly fine for their needs.

Freezebyte 10.21.2010 08:50 PM

I've owned their products and wasnt' impressed and nor is my friend with his Stampede. Thats enough to dislike/bash a company in my book. Could care less if you agree with that or not

Tamiya beat them by ten plus years. It could be said that Traxxas rebooted or a re-revolutionized the monster truck, but not solely revolutionized it.
