2009 RC-Monster Bash!

The provisional date has been set for the Annual RC-Monster Bash.

This year promises to be the best yet! It will be on Sunday July 26th at Barnstormers RC Raceways in Chester NY. Link -> http://www.barnstormersrc.com/

Address for directions:
205 Greycourt Road
Chester, NY 10918

Doors open at 8am, track opens at 9am, and the qualifiers start at 11am. Anyone who can, should do their best to make it.

It was really great to meet allot of the guys face to face and see everyones rides in real life. There were some absolutely fantastic machines there. Even if you don't think of yourself as a racer you should come out and have some fun on the track, there will be all skill levels and a class that just about any brushless off-road vehicle can race in. So bring whatever ya got and come out, race, bash and have a great time with your RC-Monster friends. Spread the word and lets see how big of an event we can make this.

Aiming again for some RC magazine coverage as well, so it should be some great exposure for this segment of the RC world.

See you there!

Bump it up...

E-Revonut 05.13.2009 02:51 PM

I'm putting in for the day off from work today! Planning on being there. Hopefully i'll have enough track time by then to be in the hunt for at least a top 5 finish

Oday9513 05.13.2009 06:03 PM

I cant wait! I am in the process of converting my truggy and i converted my revo so I will be there! I may only be 14 but my mom said if i payed for the gas i could go! I live on long island so its gonna be alot of gas money...but im sure it will be worth it.

magman 05.13.2009 09:39 PM

I wish I could come ,but, that weekend is already taken up:whip:

Finnster 05.13.2009 11:55 PM

Nice job moving it up this year. Will do my best to make it.

Pic of the current track at Barnstomers. Its huge and awesome looking.

Now if we can just get enough turn marshals to fill it out.

Oday9513 05.14.2009 05:42 PM

The track looks sick! I cant wait till July:lol::yipi:

jhautz 05.14.2009 06:12 PM

Gonna try and make it this year. Hopefully there will be no threat of rain which is why I cancelled the trip last year. Not worth the drive for a rain out.

July should make for less chance of rain for sure.

Yeah, Barnstormers always has awesome tracks. They do tend to like to go for big air tho, so bring lots of spare parts lol. In 2006, only like 3 cars out of 10 even made it to or finished the main due to bustification.

On the upside, they seem to have the wildest tracks at the end of the year.

July tends to be pretty hot and dry, so should be fine most likely.

Edumakated 05.16.2009 10:20 PM

I should be able to make it... JHautz, you driving?

nitrostarter 05.22.2009 12:56 AM

Hmmm, I'm thinking hard about this road trip now. I'll have to take Monday off thats for sure.

22hr drive, 1400 miles. 25mpg's, man thats $300 in just gas... Anyone want to take me in?

E-Revonut 05.22.2009 12:58 AM

Get Linc to come along! Split the gas

I'm down for going. Wonder if I can scare up some other riders to chip in and provide relief driving.

At 2 bucks a gallon it is about $230 in gas... Still cheaper than a plane ticket, and I can load the car with all kinds of stuff!

brushlessboy16 05.22.2009 08:03 AM

128 Miles for me. dont knwo how much MPG my car gets but its a decent amount of gas money.

shitty 20mph highway... probably down to 17 with all the Rc gear and people.

7.1gal of gas each way. 15 gallons total 14 gallon tank.

2.30 a gallon= 35 bux in gas :)

nitrostarter 05.22.2009 10:41 AM

Linc, we going to pick some people up along the way or what?

I'm definitely going to see about making this happen!

I just picked up 4 sets of buggy racing tires for $50 shipped, The truggy is almost ready as well. My basket of parts, chargers, and lipos, I'm ready!

Do we get an award for driving the furthest???

nitrostarter 05.22.2009 12:51 PM

Any special group rates at any specific hotels are setup? Just checking before I start looking and booking.

Overdriven 05.26.2009 08:30 PM

I'm definitely down, I can't own an RC8 and not go to the track at least once. Should be interesting as it has been years since being on a track. Almost as interesting as meeting you guys and seeing your machines.

Any advice on tires for this track? I have a set of wheels that need tires, and I'd imagine my badlands wouldn't be the best choice for racing.

Finnster 05.26.2009 08:37 PM

Crimefighters and bowties are the std. on the track

brushlessboy16 05.27.2009 09:19 PM

we should have a big air contest or something as a finale

Arct1k 05.27.2009 10:09 PM

always do - i won last year ;)

I wouldn't leave the badlands home! I raced with them at the bash last year. It was a rainy, muddy mess and the badlands actually hooked up well.

Overdriven 05.28.2009 09:36 AM

Good point. I was going to bring just about everything I have anyway, I hate those "oh I should've/forgot to bring the..." moments.

brushlessboy16 05.28.2009 10:07 AM

badlands actually have more traction on hard packed dirt then i would have thought.

Finnster 05.28.2009 12:13 PM

I had badlands on that track last wkend doing some practice laps. It was hot and dry, and they did slide around alot. You could get away w/ it, but some lpr bowties or crimes would do you far better. Bring them, but don't make a special effort to get badlands for the track or anything.

I would expect the weather to be hot and dry during that time of year, not the rainy muddy mess it was last oct.

Overdriven 05.28.2009 12:53 PM

Well I already have the badlands and planned to bring them, but wanted some better racing treads. I already know I'm not a worthy driver for my RC8 FT, but it'll be more fun if I'm not struggling due to tires.

One more question: do 1/10 4wd usually get some track time? My brotherlaw plans to come either way with his dark impact, but being able to get out there would be cool. I figured he'd probably get lumped with crt.5's, which is fine cause he'll be outclassed driving wise anyway.

Arct1k 05.28.2009 01:58 PM

Likely in with crt.5

Finnster 05.28.2009 02:32 PM

I wouldn't worry too much about other drivers. Some may be really good drivers that race a lot, but typically, the majority of people there for the RCM bash are new or infrequent racers that are making it for the special event. It is called a Bash for good reason. :)

brushlessboy16 05.28.2009 03:00 PM

I have raced about 4 times, this is my first year racing.. there should be a beginner and expert class.

Arct1k 05.28.2009 03:50 PM

lol already raced as much as me - just kock the fast guys off the track...

brushlessboy16 05.28.2009 05:03 PM

that works for me, we'll just get mike to marshal the entire day

lincpimp 05.28.2009 05:07 PM

I have never raced on a track... So it should be interesting to see if my hours of bashing have made me any good at all. Most likely not!

The only prob. about racing on a track for the first time is leaving the track! It is hard to walk away from a groomed track especially if you only bash. Having the track nice and smooth, groomed...heaven!

If I had a track w/in 1 hr. of my house, I'd never be home!

I wish we had that here on Long Island, in 1/8-MT size, not the small indoor 1/10 we have now. Then I'd never go home either.

First or last, as long as I'm out there and finish I'll be having fun. Being more of a "bash" makes it a more comfortable setting though. Getting to see some cool rides, people and setups makes it worth the drive.

Thats why I will be there, even though the drive is 22+ hours for me...

Your just nuts Linc, and not just for driving that far. Can't wait to meet ya though. :mdr:

nitrostarter 05.29.2009 01:29 AM

Arct1k- I may be in the running for the long jump competition, I had some fun with a couple hard cardboard boxes and was getting some sick air and distance with my Jammin buggy at linc's today, until I ripped the front shock tower out and sheared the shock tower mounts off the diff cases...

Sure wish Linc had a darn video camera....
