On the right track?

Hello everyone this is my first post although I've been enjoying this forum
for sometime. I just wanted to see if I was on the right track with my e-maxx
mods?:032: Here is my list,

FLM Ext Chassis
FLM combo bulks
FLM Shock Towers
Tsais Tbones CVDs
Thanks Mike for the above items, great service.
Novack HV-Maxx
G-Maxx Single Speed Conversion
Robinson Slipper
Traxxas Spool (for the rear)
Pro-line Steering Kit
Traxxas Big Bores
Proline Crimefighter 40 series Tires
Proline Wabasha wheels
Proline 23mm Hex Adapters
And Assorted Transmission parts

I'm going to stay with the factory arms and steering blocks for the time
being. If you'll have any suggestions on other things I might need I'm
open.

Thank you all

First off welcome to the forums! Thats an O.K list, first off, id take out the spool, id change those cvds to maybe UE or MIP. Those pro-line 23mm adaptors arent the best, i heard they break stub axles alot, id sell those on ebay and get DACE adaptors. Also, if the robinson slipper melts on you, id try a strobe slipper with a ofna 51 Tooth Mod 1 spur gear and pinion. But for what you have it sounds ok!

J Cates 04.19.2006 03:05 PM

If any of those assorted Tranny parts happend to be aluminum, do your self a favor and dont use them, unless they are Ultramaxxed Gears, dont use Traxxas output shaft, input shaft

civicwil 04.19.2006 03:17 PM

Thanks Sylvester and J Cates, I started collecting these parts before I found this forum. Since I haven't assembled it all yet I can make changes.

Sylvester 04.19.2006 04:34 PM

civicwil, like J Cates asked, are those aluminum peices in there? The absolute MOST abuse those can take is from a HV-Maxx, but anything over will bend those in no time!

Mike.L 04.19.2006 05:08 PM

yes your going good but a couple changes you could have done
here they are:
with all the money you've spent you could have probably got a professional bl setup like using a lehner (example). and a good bl controller.
another is, instead of the tsais dog bones you could have gotten the suppermaxx ext. dogs.
the flm parts are perfect but a nice gorilla-maxx chassis would be a bit better. But either way there good chassis.
yes like sylvester said the proline 23mm hexes arrent the best. "dace" has very nice good quality ones.
evereything else is pritty sweet and your on the right track!:0

Sylvester 04.19.2006 05:10 PM

Like he said, he didnt find this site before he got all that stuff so its ok.

civicwil 04.19.2006 08:13 PM

I've only just started taking it apart and I'm waiting for
the single speed conversion from G-Maxx, so no aluminum
is in the trans. and know it won't get any at all. Luckily
I may have some one to buy some of the stuff I have now.
time to spend more money with Mike.

I can't thank you guys enough. As I get closer to being done I'll post some pictures.

P.S. Mike L. I've been sucked into the brushless 1/8 buggy craze so I'll be sure to get a better grade of brushless for it. Although if the HV-Maxx goes up in smoke who knows:027:

Sylvester 04.19.2006 08:21 PM

Good. Cant wait to see pics! :)

civicwil 04.21.2006 02:55 PM

After looking around for some of the parts that were recommended and coming up short, (so many things out of stock):035:I think I'll put it together with what I have and then start planning for a 1/8 brushless buggy project.:004:
I'm sure as things break I'll make the upgrades.

coolhandcountry 04.21.2006 03:17 PM

I think you will like the truck when put together. It sounds like it will be nice.

Mike.L 04.21.2006 10:24 PM

np problem civicwil ;) i wanna see some pic man. thats gonna be sooooo sweet. man the hv-maxx is allright but when i saw sylvesters feiego in action on only 14 cells it was friggin crazy and now that hes upgrading to 16 its gonna be even betta! so i shure do wanna see some new upgraded pics civicwil!

even if you don't get the bl setup anytime soon.

Sylvester 04.21.2006 10:31 PM

coolhandcountry 04.22.2006 08:21 AM

Attachment 1100

Attachment 1101I'll start with these, I was up this morning at 4:00am and got started. So far I have the single speed conversion done and the front diff assembled.

coolhandcountry 04.22.2006 07:49 PM

oh yeah. shiney new parts. I like it so far.

mmdooley 04.22.2006 08:52 PM

: Stay with the FLM parts they are great. I just got finished with my all flm e-maxx and it hauls! I have an 8xl and a 9920. If you want a list let me know. The truck will look awesome.:dft012:

Sylvester 04.22.2006 09:53 PM

Yeah flm is great! Really nice so far!

Mike.L 04.22.2006 10:52 PM

ya its nice looking. it looks very long. i don't know if that me or not!;) anyways how mutch does that weigh so far. aproximate guess.???

Sylvester 04.23.2006 09:50 AM

It is an extended flm chassis, but it may just be you;) It shouldnt weight much, mike.

Mike.L 04.23.2006 02:32 PM

im sure it weighs less then a stock e-maxx thats for sure.:P

Sylvester 04.23.2006 02:49 PM

Butofcourse!

mmdooley 04.23.2006 09:01 PM

Mine is about 12lbs with 14 cells on it. Just a guess:032:

Sylvester 04.23.2006 09:03 PM

mmdooley, your looks more like a 11 or a 11.5lb truck, thats just a guess though!

Mike.L 04.23.2006 09:03 PM

i.c thats not bad, but theres lighter your truck looks like a steet maxx. for street. so there shouldn't be mutch broken parts

civicwil 04.24.2006 08:56 AM

I have to say I'm surprised how light it is so far. I'm going with a single shock on each corner also. We ran into a snag when assembling the rear diff. it seems to have a high spot on the pinion, so when I put the halves together it makes it hard to turn.

Mike.L 04.24.2006 10:57 AM

maby you tightened the the sterring thing in to hard.

civicwil 04.27.2006 11:09 AM

I found my problem with the rear diff. to be a loose nut behind the wheel.
I installed the differential assembly on the wrong side of the case. Fixed it
last night now it's like butta'.:027:

Here are some new photos, I still need to clean up the wiring and take it out. This is my old body, guess it's time to paint up a new one.

squeeforever 05.02.2006 09:24 PM

Uh oh....you do know the walbash' make your truck 1 inch narrower? Right? So basically, your truck, (if its a widemaxx version) is like a standard original maxx. I.E., VERY NARROW. There specific to the Revo but fit the maxx'. I would recommend going with some Velocities if you havent glued them yet.

Sylvester 05.02.2006 09:53 PM

Thats a beuatiful machine you have there! Yea, id switch those rims around with some velos. But you can leave them if you want, but you will have noticable amount of rolls during running.

civicwil 05.03.2006 12:35 PM

Thanks guys, I did notice that it seemed narrower. I have a set of Commandos with Moabs, they look awsome but are heavy.

stampy 05.05.2006 12:09 AM

ya i had the same setup weighted more that my truck did lol. need to get my tires so i can change my sig pic lol

I guess sometimes you learn by doing. A couple of great people on this forum warned me about the axle choice I made and now I know why.

Sylvester 05.22.2006 10:34 AM

Nice man! What cvds are you now gonna get? UE 6mm drive shafts would be neccesary. The ones mike has would be perfect for you.

coolhandcountry 05.22.2006 12:38 PM

Well I did the same thing. I went the cheaper route and it cost me more in the long run. Nice truck by the way. What did you break?

civicwil 05.22.2006 02:19 PM

The axles on just one side and 1 battery popped out and split the case.
This happened after only 3 jumps. Before this it was running great as I was adjusting everything.
I was just looking at the UE 6mm cvds. I'll have to do a some side work to get them.
