E-slayer build...

So I was digging around in my rc room and came across (then wiped off) a bunch of stuff (woo hoo, tiny cars, yeah baby!!!)

Sorry, back to the lecture at hand. Basically I found a complete buggy power system and a bunch (alot) of revo parts.

I only have one spare esc laying around, and it is a quark 80airmaster. Works fine with a car radio but lacks proportional brakes. So it would have to be used with a mech brakes setup.

So I think I will build a slayer again, as I really liked the one I had. Noticed the "pro" version traxxas sells now is longer and wider (wider being good as I always thought it was a bit narrow).

So what do you guys think? I basically have a complete revo, all I should need are the arms, and pushrods/toelinks, right?

lincpimp 01.16.2011 11:35 PM

Also need a body and bumpers...

Will likely use buggy wheels and tires, as I have alot of those.

And I have a complete set of hybrid diffs, with buggy ratio internals.

trev3813 01.16.2011 11:41 PM

DO IT! haha, i don't see why not :)

What's_nitro? 01.17.2011 12:00 AM

Yeah at the very least the parts will be easier to keep track of now that they're assembled...

rawfuls 01.17.2011 12:26 AM

How about you just give it all to me for compensation for.... rawbuns?

Arct1k 01.17.2011 09:45 AM

Linc's back 5 builds in progress - any guess on which one might get completed? LOL

Yeah yeah, real funny Chris...

Not sure I am into 5 right now, maybe 4...

Not even sure this will end up as a slayer, might be a revo with buggy wheels. Depends on how much I want to spend, being such a cheap ass.

Its good to see again though, this time last year the forum was dead, with no builds happening...

Glad to see linc back to his old compulsive build building, rawbuns insulting, british speaking wise cracker with a wheelchair bound guy in his basement.

Glad to have you back

You may want to check with JPOPCOCK, he built one recently with a EREVO chassis and it came out very nice.

Thanks for the link honey. I like what he did, but I plan to stick with the forward only setup with mech brakes. I could wire up reverse with the 3rd channel... Mech reverse, how lame is that on an e build!!!

I may just build this with revo arms and see how it does. Hate to spend a bunch of money on slayer parts and no like it. Still need to scare up a chassis.

lincpimp 01.20.2011 12:14 AM

Well I scored a chassis for 12 bucks on ebay... Shipped. So when that comes in I will be ready. Need to get the hybrid diffs built and get the bulks assembled. When the chassis comes in I can get a motor mount built and I think I have a nitro conversion battery tray somewhere. Time to explode the revo parts on the bench!!!

Never did post pics of this build. Since everyone loves pics, here ya go:

And some stripped chassis pics as I received it. About as close as build pics go for this one.

I have a set of front and rear HCR aluminum bumper mounts for the Revo.
If you're interested send me a pm.
Never used them on my Gorillamaxx G3R Erevo build.

lincpimp 08.19.2014 09:09 AM

Power system for this one was a Hacker C50 13L with a Quark 80a on 5s. Getting the spring setup right was slightly challenging, this truck seemed to be sensitive to spring weights. Pretty sure I sold this truck as a roller, I might have made it into a revo though. Memory is murky on what happened to this truck.

lincpimp 08.26.2014 09:53 AM

So Having found the pics brought back fond memories of bashing this truck, so I decided to make another.

Dug thru the spares and found a 3.3 revo chassis and a decent selection of small parts. Ordered the needed parts off ebay, when they show up I will take a group photo!

Thinking I will run a sidewinder 8th system (for 150 bucks it seems like a no brainer...) on 4 or 5s. I do have a few oddball motors that I may try...

Going to lock a nitro revo trans in 2nd gear, and make my own motor mount. I need to make one for the other revo based project anyway.

rawfuls 08.26.2014 12:49 PM

Necroing AND double posting?
Tsk tsk linc.

Man, I miss RC.
I wish I had the cash flow OR time here in college.

Better make this build more kick ass!

lincpimp 08.27.2014 12:59 AM

Not to worry scholarbuns, I shall make this a build to remember. Or at least a build to forget.

Might even go outrunner.... who knows!

That would be the one for you than.

Took you almost 4 days to come up with that one, huh?

One day we shall meet, an epic battle of will and wit shall ensue. Insults will fly and tears will flow. When the dust settles there will but one victor, who shall evermore bask in the glory of RCM member's deep gratification, while the other shall be doomed to the pit of desolation in which he shall have to laugh at Jerry's jokes and translate jayhay's posts into discernible conversation. My heart longs for this day, yet I feel some trepidation as my victory is not a guarantee. I must bring my A game and only through diligent preparation and careful application may I triumph over you Harold, my arch nemesis.

_paralyzed_ 08.30.2014 07:46 PM

It shall be a bittersweet day, oh Pimp of the Lincolns. While I have the utmost respect for your intellect and ability (and girth) I shall bar no holds when I maniacally and systematically break down every iota of inner strength you possess until you lie quivering naked in the middle of the floor in a puddle of your own filth and tears. (just like we did to Bondo in that Super 8 in Bakersfield! )

In the end, there can be only one...

The R/C-lander!!!

jayjay283 09.01.2014 01:44 PM

Thats my boys going at it as always.. I'll try to make a decipherable post as im mostly sober.

Bought the hydraulic brakes and x2 and some other stuff for the 1/5, still havent built it
http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/j...901_123233.jpg

got a polishing machine and took the emaxx all apart and polished most of it. wish I had left it alone im to lazy to put it back together
http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/j...901_123322.jpg

bought a 4x4 because in my advancing age I can see the bolts better to wrench on
http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/j...828_144906.jpg

miss you all keep up the good stuff

lincpimp 09.01.2014 09:53 PM

A sober post from jayjay!!! Truck looks good dude, I like the stance.

I feel your pain on the emaxx reassembly. I am rebuilding my workshop and had to move all of my half finished rc projects. The 6x6 Maxx is one of them, and only really lacks a modded set of bulks to tie it together. Also found the 6x6 lst, that needs electronics which I need to figure out. Lots of fun to be had and even more money to be spent!!!
