my FLM/GPM progress so far.......

seems to me that there's something missing..... :002:

can't quite figure out what it is though :032:

still no front arms (obviously), blue titanium turnbuckles w/ yellow rod ends are in the mail now, gonna have to stick with stock :mad:1 stinger motor till i can afford a BL set-up.....

Looks good!

Mike.L 04.21.2006 10:28 PM

what pinion and spure are you gonna run?

Serum 04.22.2006 03:40 AM

Nice furry, I think i can take back my words on the other post about buying a BL setup..

yes, obviously you can tell what is FLM, all the blue is GPM (rear arms, front arms "back order", ft/rr hubs and front C hubs), the GPM quality seems really flimsy (and thats without being able to drive it) i think the steering/caster hubs will be ok, but not sure about the arms, i actually started with a GPM front bulkhead and scratched that idea right away....... yeah, and the way the shocks are screwed together really sucks, only 3-4 threads on top holding it ??? WTF!?

unfortunately, GPM is the ONLY thing i could find anodized blue and i REALLY wanted to add color to this......

i have already email MIKE (rc-monster) if he could get the FLM parts anodized for me, so when he gets back to me, i might be re-buying the arms from him instead..... and if he can, i will eventually be doing a Rusty in all anodized FLM, but i can't give away my color ideas just yet.....:010: :005:

right now the pinion and spur are stock (18/84), but i did buy a spare spur (87)..... i can't afford the Brushless and ESC set-up yet, so i will probly just keep running the stock brushed 20-turn until i can.....

all that seen in the picture, + some not pictured (rims, tires, body, etc.... + roll cage for my t-maxx and other parts) have all been ordered in the last like 2-1/2 weeks, so im really broke right now....

ill be posting more are it progresses ofcourse.

Serum 04.22.2006 04:07 AM

I think the yellow pages will find you a shop that can anodise for you?

thanks Serum, i come up with some interesting color ideas sometimes.... just wait till i get more knowledged in this hobby and can find a local anodizer..... :018:

the ninja in my screen name is from my old race bikes, Kawasaki Ninjas ZX-6R (green and purple) and ZX-7R (green and white), the 600 had green cow print on the seats and purple leopard fur on the wind screen, hence forth FURRYNINJAS......

my girl friend (at the time) loved the furry seats, because she said it tickled her ????? when she didn't wear undies.... ;)

Mike.L 04.22.2006 08:32 AM

lol, funny....:)

i think im coming on to your color themes:p

coolhandcountry 04.22.2006 08:42 AM

Hmm make me want to get a furry seat on my motor cycle.
That is a nice looking pede. I am doing a pede to at this time. It is going together slowly.

Mike.L 04.22.2006 08:50 AM

18/84 isin't that a little high? wouldn't it be a little better if you ran 18/72? or lower on the pinion and spure.

i am so new to this hobby that i dont know anything, like i said, all i have is the stock TRAXXAS motor, and this is the gearing that is had on it....

once i get brushless, im sure i will have to change it, and i know i will be asking all my questins from this site....

COOLHAND, yeah, mine is going together pretty slowly also, the waiting game for paydays and parts delivery sucks really bad....

coolhandcountry 04.22.2006 01:39 PM

I think the payday part takes longer to get around so can order the stuff. :D I got others to keep me busy. I running a 21 84 gearing but have a bigger motor than you have.

Mike L
the gearing on a pede or rusty is different than a emaxx.

good guess MILE L. - what appears black on the kawasaki is actually purple, bad angle with the sun....

coolhand - hears some pics, this was before the furry seats though, but im sure you could get the visualization idea.....

sorry this one is blurry, it was a rollin' endo from arount 100 mph !!! i was the ONLY person in town to do that much less a 180 endo, and i was working on a 360 endo when i sold the bikes after my son was born...... when i get a bike again in a year or so, i am done with the stunts, getting too old for that crap, just knee draggin' in the corners from now on....

any ideas of what section i would look under for anodising? unfortunately, access is somewhat limited in a military town, but there are PLENTY of chopper shops around, so maybe one of them can.....

coolhandcountry 04.22.2006 02:53 PM

I had the idea before. I used to ride at one time to. I started riding at the ripe age of 4years old.

Mike.L 04.22.2006 03:49 PM

if i were you i would anodize the rear differential gear box thingy:p lol sorry for the miss pronunciation. and arms. depends if you want the chassis done to.
nice bike moves furry!

4, wow thats awsome....... my parents were too sheltering to let me do something like that, plus growing up on the farm, there was always work to do..... i guess thats why im going crazy with my "toys" now, since i've been out on my own for the past 10 yrs.... its MY time.

Mike.L 04.22.2006 03:51 PM

a nother part could be the shocktowers. and the best and would make a big impression woulld be the hex screws. can you even anodize the hex screws??
but that would bring out alot in the truck no dought about it;)

i have been thinking about that too, i have found blue anodized screw sets for the T/E Maxx's that i might get, im sure those screws would work for this application......

but i just wanna get this thing running first, then i will worry about the smaller details like that, gotta get the important things first

Mike.L 04.22.2006 10:50 PM

ya there small details but just get the truck done first then trick it out with nice anodized parts.

furryninjas 04.22.2006 11:29 PM

since the stampede is going to be mostly for bashing, its going to stay simple,

but when i build the rusty for racing, then i will do all that other stuff...

Mike.L 04.23.2006 02:30 PM

i cant wait get pics a.s.a.p!!:D

furryninjas 04.23.2006 05:24 PM

it'll be a while before i build the anodized Rusty.....

gotta finish the stampede basher and fix my t-maxx, that i just busted again today, jumping too big....

can't wait till my roll cage gets here

Sylvester 04.23.2006 06:01 PM

What'cha break on the maxx?

furryninjas 04.23.2006 06:32 PM

rear bulkhead...... pics in "general nitro" under "over heat"

found a nice jump at a park since i got my engine running again....

but, i found out that 60wt. shock oil + 7lb. springs + 1hole piston + plastic bulkheads = bad idea LOL

but thats why we RC right......?

Sylvester 04.23.2006 06:38 PM

Like i always say, if you arent breaking any parts, your not having enough fun! :)

coolhandcountry 04.23.2006 06:58 PM

I would say the 60wt oil and one hole piston may have been harder on it than any.

furryninjas 04.23.2006 09:09 PM

well i had another thread asking about shock set-up and that what i got responces to try...... gues ill go back to the 2 hole piston, or maybe try 1 hole with 45wt.

coolhandcountry 04.23.2006 09:11 PM

The stock bulkheads are not the strongest either. So you may have a good setup but the bulks are weaker than the other stuff.

Mike.L 04.23.2006 09:14 PM

ya i would recomend flm or u/e blks they pritty nice!

Sylvester 04.23.2006 09:14 PM

Yea, i had a similar problem, i was using gmaxx suspension, 4 integy shocks, 1 hole piston, 80wt oil, i broke bulkheads all the time, but once i went flm my problems were gone, until i bent a shocktower:p

squeeforever 04.23.2006 09:41 PM

mike l, ue doesnt make bulks i dont believe. most people associate ga with them though.

furryninjas 04.23.2006 09:46 PM

i like the Great assembly's cause their stronger alloy, but the FLM got the hybrids.......... think im going FLM,

anyone know what gears i would have to run for the 1/18 scale hybrid bulks?

and will all these parts convert over to electric, cause im really getting tired of this nitro engine giving me troubles.....LOL

80wt. !!!!! are you talking 4 shocks all the way around, or just rear.....

i thought my 60wt. was pretty stiff

squeeforever 04.23.2006 10:34 PM

yea, the 1/8th hybrids are the BEST and will work if you ever deside to convert your t to a e. the hot bodies lightning stadium pro diffs mike sells are VERY good diffs.

squee im sure i saw that they had some kind of bulkless stuff.

i use 80w shock oil on my mt . its actually prity goober. soft:P it uses soft springs thats why.

Serum 04.24.2006 11:04 AM

Mike, would you please use the edit button?

UE doesn't make bulks, they make bulkless, in two types. With and without integrated shocktowers.
