American patriots
A friend of mine sent this to me and I found it most interesting. What are your thoughts on the matter?
If you want to have a very clear understanding of the position of the leadership of our government is taking on illegal immigration, I urge you to watch and listen carefully to this video all the way to the end. Best I have heard or read on this subject. The person in this video is a professor (Ph.D.) at Yavapai College in Prescott, Arizona. He puts a different spin on what Obama is doing to help Arizona and he repeats the important parts and speaks slowly enough to allow you to follow what he's saying; Must be why he's rated highly by his students. This may be the best video produced on the illegal alien problems that are being experienced. http://www.youtube.com/embed/tsH8xvjTAlo |
Oh believe me, I've known about this for a long time now and do whatever I can to tell and educate everyone I know. For this alone, the so-called president should be impeached immediately. To put citizens from another country over citizens of the country of which you are the supreme leader is ludicrous.
Here's a thread I started about this topic a while back: http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26984 I truly believe that deportation is not needed at all. Just remove all incentives for them to be here; housing, school, medical, jobs, etc and they will have no choice to go elsewhere. You want into this country, do it the right way and you will be welcomed. And for those people who think they should be here to have a chance at a better life, even illegally, how about YOU provide a job, housing, medical, schooling, etc out of your own pocket and leave my tax money alone. |
Yes, remove the incentives. Do the same for welfare, and the other parasitic programs we have. It will make the country better. Make people accountable for what they do. Seems so simple, but the socialists want sheep they can manipulate, and nothing does that better than handouts.
|
Me too
I have to agree with you guys about this one. We work for the Department of State and you can bet your bottom dollar that every country we are posted in has laws about having some form of ID on you at all times. We even have to acquire local ID's through their immigration services so that we have some kind of ID that their police and other support services can read, because it is in their native writing. In fact while in Korea we had to acquire a Korean drivers lisence, a Korean immigrant ID card, and a Korean foreign diplomatic ID to show what country we were from. We also had to have a US Embassy ID card, a US Military base ID card, and a US Embassy Support services ID card, and a US ration ID card for shopping in the military Exchange and Commissary stores. And here we are violating the rights of the immigrants just by requiring them to carry an immigrant ID card. I have to say that this administration has done a lot of things that I am not too proud of and if the people want them to be held accountable then the people have to stand up and be heard. Otherwise things will just keep going south literally. I also have to say that this professors video is dammed hard to argue with. I for one would like to hear Obama's arguement against this stand.

"Ummm, uhhhhh, mmmmm, huhuh, urrrr, mmmum, etc" Pretty much what he sounds like anytime he makes any sort of speech. I have to turn them off, all of that stammering just ticks me off. This guy is supposed to represent our country and he can barely get a sentence out right. I often wonder where they find the presidential candidates? Do they hold trials to find the worst public speaker with the most irregular fetiches and strange behaviours? Seems like it. They either have one foot in the grave or are just plain weird. i guess the pay is not that good, and it only attacks a certain type of person. |
I'll put my 2 cents in about carrying the greencard on you along with your other id cards. The greencard is not even remotely close of getting easily replaced. If it was, then nearly nobody would have a problem carrying it with them at all times. Blame the slow goverment for this. In my younger years I use to be asked for my alien card during traffic stops in Florida. I always said that I don't carry it with me, as I had to use it to get my driver license. It took my parents more then 7 years to get the card for me, and do you really think I will walk around with the card and get it lost for whatever reason. NO. Current cost of a replacement green card is around 370 dollars when you apply for it by yourself. The other immigrants that don't really understand the english legal terms, hire a immigration laywer to help them fill in the paper work. That my friends is time and more money just for one card. You can end up with a 500 dollar bill just to replace a green card.

Whats next can't carry my license because I might loose it. WTF is wrong with people and not having any GD common sense anymore. ID cards are made for what reason. TO ID YOURSELF TO OFFICIALS WHO REQUEST IT. This is why the ID card was invented and put into use in the first place. We all have to show some kind of proof of who we are to verify anything in regards to a legal status, period. ID cards like this one have to be all of the same type and hard to copy in order to make them legitimate. Otherwise everyone would have one made up at the local printing store and the program would be null & void. Any arguement against an ID card is a bunch of BS. Just like the rest of the immigration laws that are on the books in every other country around the world, if you do not want to abide by them then get the hell out, or go to jail. I might lose my ID card so I do not carry it. That is just plain rediculous. I am not trying to pick on any one person here, but this really torques my britches. These laws are set up in every country around the globe in order to protect its people and its citizen services that the citizens have paid for in one form or another through Taxes, or some other form of payment. If you go to visit another country you have to have the proper paperwork filled out in advance and you have to pay for any kind of Visa or Immigration ID out of pocket. The people of that country do not pay it for you. Keeping that ID secure and not losing it is your responsibility. If you lose it you pay for it again. If it takes two weeks or two years then you go home until it is processed and you receive it. There are no shortcuts or loopholes for getting around these proceedure. We have been doing this for every country we have been assigned to for years. Our kids carry whatever is required by that country and we stress over and over and over again how important it is to not lose these ID's. Now 12, 14, & 15 none of them have lost one yet. They do misplace them in their clothing sometimes, but we instructed them to always look at it as if they have a $500 bill in their posession, because yes it is an expensive and PITA loss if they do. Bottom line.... If you can not obey the laws of the coutnry you want to visit, then do not go there. |
Getting a replacement driver license is as easy as going online and apply for one for a few bucks and getting it in the mail within a week. If the greencard was as easy as going online and low cost, that yea no issue for me to carry my greencard. Hell getting a Surinamese passport is easier than a green card. Or how about going to the post office to apply for you American passport. Easy as pie. Greencards are more valuable to immigrants than Americans think. Why, because you can't get one with ease. Like I said before. It took my parents more then 7 years to get one. And they did it the legal way. 7 Years of waiting just so you can give your kids a better opportunity in life.
Make the replacement cost affordable and quick and I'll carry mine anytime, just like I carry all my other ID's. |
Hard life.

Jerry, I have had copies of my greencard before. And it was unacceptable by the local popo. I was threaten to be picked up by immigration, got slapped, abused with no excuse and whatnot by the good old american popo. Is it my fault I look like a Latino/Mexican and profiled. I'm half Chinese. Scare tactics don't work on a person that has grown up with fear on a daily basis. So what if immigration picks me up. Once they see my file, I will get released. Waste of time and tax money. At the same time I can sue if I really wanted too. But that would make me a typical American that likes to sue anybody for anything. Anyways, if the police have all your criminal record on file in their car, why can't the FBI/immigration have a link with the Popo to see even more info. In this day of age, you can't tell me that it's not possible. It's BS for an underlying issue.
370 bucks for an ID card. Give me a break. Construction guy or farm help can't cough up that kinda money on time. This country is build on immigrants, needs immigrants and at the same time don't want them. This is the point of view of most fellow immigrants. So there are two options in my eyes about the ID issue. 1. Reduce the fee and most won't care carrying the ID with them. 2. Have BrianG work out a program to link the Immigration/FBI files with the police. |
I have a green card and certainly do not carry it at all times and wouldnt want to - I've been stopped by the police in teh past and produced US driving licence and its never been an issue.
I see no reason to carry a card at all times - I do think it is reasonable to present proof of residency if you are expecting any service from the US gov or commit a crime. This would trap almost all. Couple of other thoughts - I was here on and I94 work visa which is just a stamp in my passport. Would that mean I should carry my passport at all times. Surely this would mean legal US citizens also have to carry id otherwise you are an illegal? Whats the % of americans with a PP or a driving licence? Does that mean every American will carry their birth certificate? PS My driving licence in NJ at least is only ever validated for as long as my work visa allowed. Hence if I had a driving licence there was a pretty good chance I was legit. However in either of my tickets or pleas at court this was never asked about |

I'm not a US citizen, but there has to be more this that what we hear or see possibly?...

I don't have a passport, but don't need one as I never leave my country :) I do carry my ID with me at all times, of course.

Surprized
Look I just want to say that I am very surprized how some people think that they are some sort of special case and should not have to follow the basic immigrant laws of the USA or any other country they may want to visit. If you visit America or most any other country for less than 30 days there is no Visa required, but if you plan to say any longer there is usually some hidden agenda like work, or family ties in which people want to stay once they are in that country, or even something more sinister. These rules are no different from most countries. Some vary in the length of time in which you must have a Visa, but all are pretty much the same. A lot of European countries have the same illegal immigration problems that the USA does, but not to the tune of 11 million illegals. If this were an arguement in most any other countries people would just be put into jail for violating their laws, but with 11 million there is little chance that the USA is going to place that number of people into jail or even spend the money to deport them because it would likely bankrupt the Gov. For those of you who are immigrants in the USA check the laws in your own country and you will likely see that they are very similar, and in a lot of cases even more strict. SO how in the world can you come to the US and demand special treatment and expect that you are going to recieve it? That is just ignorant. Meaning that you obviously did not review these laws before you came to the USA. Maybe you should read them, and follow them, or take your chances like so many others, but when you end up in jail or deported you will have no one to blame but yourself for ignoring them and not knowing what your rights are as a visitor or resident aliean to our country.

As I said before. If it's easy to get a replacement card, I have no problem carrying that sucker with me. My wallet is big enough for one more card. I don't care what is thought of me for not having a card. If you need my alien card, I'll produce it the following day which I've done a few days ago at work. Nobody is going to die if I don't have my card with me. In Suriname it is also easier to get a replacement ID and it's a third world country! What does that tell you?
I don't ask for special treatment. I pay my taxes like everyone else. I enjoy my little money I make in a country were opportunities are all over the place. This country is not perfect, but it's alot better than some and that is why I am here. I choose not to be an American citizen for personal reasons. My kids and wife are. Does that make me a bad person? Does it make me a horrible human being for having one less ID card, just because I use my free will not to carry it. As far as I know, it's my hard earned money that buys me RCM parts and not my Alien card. |
Sad
. This country is build on immigrants, needs immigrants and at the same time don't want them. This is the point of view of most fellow immigrants.
Thats sad Snell, because most of us could care less one way or the other. Yes this country was built on the backs of immigrants, and those were our families. So don't try to lay that guilty crap in here. No country NEEDS immigrants, but they do provide certain qualities to our country and are always welcome here as long as they follow the laws of our nation without question. The only problem the American people have is with the immigrants who have come here and stayed here without going through the system that was setup by our Governing powers to protect our borders and our rights for services that we paid for through taxes. The Immigration laws are fairly simple and must be followed or suffer the consiquences. There are penalties for violating those laws and our Gov should be following them to the letter and taking care of business because that is what they were elected to do. The immigration laws are very much the same in every country around the globe so you have no real stance that is going to give you a loophole around those laws. Carry your ID or don't. It will not be me putting you in jail, but I back the laws of this nation with pride and follow them to the "T" just I expect any visitor to do. |
i have 6 forms of ID and i carry atleast 4 on me at all times, but im a white boy from arkansas so its not like anyone gives crap about me but, when we had exchange student living with us he carried his PP around 24/7 and two other forms of ID.
|
I'm with you Jerry; I think anyone who legally immigrates here from a foreign land should have to provide verifiable proof of citizenship. Is it convenient? Not at all. Is it right? Maybe not. But something has to be done and the system has been broken for so long that fixing it is going to be painful for some. It's going to be a necessary evil until things calm down. Once that happens, then maybe the necessity of having to carry ID at all times will be relaxed. Blame the corrupt gov't, not what has to be done to fix the problem.
Like it or not, we have an illegal alien problem. If the feds had enforced the laws from day 1, we wouldn't be in the pickle we are in today. And I don't blame only this administration because immigration laws in one form or another have been in the books since forever, but this administration is the only one with the balls to actually sue a state for doing what they failed to do. Not only that, but doesn't the Constitution, which the president is sworn to uphold, say the president must protect against invasion and to see that laws are upheld? I'd say on those two points alone that he is a prime candidate for impeachment. Sure, many illegals are here and are legitimately trying to make a better life for themselves. But they need to do it legally just like every other immigrant who waited in line forever. It's a slap in a legal immigrant's face because they did it the right way yet the family of illegals down the street simply snuck across the border and gets the same benefits they do. I've spoken to several people of Hispanic descent about this topic and they feel similar as I do (to varying degrees - I am a bit more hard-line about it than most). You can see how we went from bad to worse as you go down the dates of immigration law history: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...migration_laws. And this, if correct (as of 2006), shows why California is in the trouble it is in today: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illegal..._United_States |
It's usually the immigrants that do the low paying jobs that others don't want to do. Or it can be the opposite and it's the immigrant that surpasses the native. You can replace an American engineer, with 3 foreign engineers for the same money. Like it or not current America can't do it without immigrants when it comes down to big money.
You can bully me all you want, I will not bend. That is my nature. Sure there are concequences for my type, but this is who I am. Rules are rules. Rules get broken, rules get inforced and rules can change. Change is what alot of people are afraid off. I am on your side when it comes to illegal immigrants and those that abuse the system to gain free services. Work for your earnings is my motto. America is just too big to deal with anything down to the "T". There is not enough money for all that to happen. And you can see that even more now in this recession. |
Yes you are.
I don't ask for special treatment.
Yes you are. By not carrying your required ID you are expecting special treatment for a law that requires you to have it on you at all times. There are no excpetions in that law. It does not say if you don't feel like it, then just leave it at home. No more than the local laws that require you to carry a drivers license to drive a car. If you get caught driving without it you get a ticket. Most judges will dismiss the penalty as long as you show proof in court that you do hold a VALID drivers license. But if you are a repeat offender you will get hammered and eventually lose your license. You go right ahead and be a rebel man. I am not here to trap anyone or cause trouble for people who fail to follwow the law. That is why we have Sheriff's, State Troopers, and border patrol. I am just here because I am an American and I believe in our country and its laws. If people don't know or understand I am willing to share my knowledge if asked, and I have little time for people who just don't care. Funny thing about people who think they are above the law. Sooner or later they will fall. Then they want to sceam prejudice or discrimination when it was them who violated the very laws that gave them the opportunity to live here in the first place to share in the freedoms that our country provides. I shared the info that I am aware of because I hope that it might help someone who did not know or understand who wants to check into the laws that affect them directly and maybe do the right thing. Good luck with your dare against a system that was setup to help you live here legally, and yet you mock that system and taunt your own fate. That is what makes American born people feel badly about the whole immigration situation. We follow the laws of our country and yes by God we expect you to do the same, or just we would you will suffer. And yet you still see this as an inconvenience. Man isn't that something. God bless man. |

What"""
What job you or I hold or how hard you or I work has nothing to do with anything we have been talking about. Who cares what you or an illegal or I do for a living when it comes to the Immigration laws? And whats this crap about us not going to bully you? All we have done is quote Federal laws for you that are written once again to help you and give you the opportunity that you have in the USA that require you to carry that alian ID card that was issued to you to protect you. So what part of that was bullying you? The jails are full of guys with the same attitude you have shared with us about the laws of our nation, and I bet they wish they could take back the rebelious refusal to follow those laws so they would not be in jail. If I were in your shoes and had a family who depended on me to survive I would do whatever it took to make sure that I was always there to support them by following every law to the letter, and staying out of trouble in any way possible so that I know there is no chance that I could lose what I have. Your playing russian rulet just by puffing out your chest and showing us how tough your are so that you only have to follow the laws of this nation which you think are important. Really?? This is your stance on the matter? We only want our friends here on RCM to do what is right, and we look out for those who are not by sharing our knowledge about these things in order to help them. So you just keep being tough and risking everything for your ego. Thats going to show us, right? I carry six ID's on me at all times so that I can avoid the hassles that come with living in a nation that is not my home. I carried my PP until they issued me an alian card that I will take with me everywhere I go no matter what. Because my family depends on me to be here and I love them enough to suffer having to carry that ID even if it might make my wallot too fat. If I lose it or it gets stolen, then I will have to get it replaced. Whatever it takes. What an arguement that is.

And before anyone says that Americans demand too much pay, I see it this way: If someone is unhappy with their pay, they can go elsewhere, but they should not expect the gov't to support their laziness. |
Man, you get pretty upset just because I show who I am. Sir, didn't I just tell you that there are consequences for my type? I think I did. Is it an ego? No, it's who I am, which I also told you about. Am I a rebel? No, not in my eyes. Do I care for my family? Ofcouse I do. Will a single ID take them away from me? Lol I don't think so.
Sir, I stood up and told you what I think and how my personality is. It's natural to expect a response like yours. It is what happens when one does not conform to ones ideals. But that is what makes us individuals. It's the internet Jerry. If it wasn't me ruffeling your feathers, it would of been somebody else. |

Jerry. I'm legal and am happy to prove it but the risk of someone stealing it is higher than me needing it.

Interesting discussion! I know emotions run high on the issue...Australia has similar ongoing concerns about illegal migration, I believe nearly every country or nation does...well except for Antarctica. Australia has chosen a slightly softer path in dealing with residents who are the equivalent to US green card holders. My wife is one & she doesn't need to carry any proof of visa status on her, the records are there if required - she pays taxes, doesn't commit crime - why should she need to prove that she is a resident...she is innocent until proven guilty
The French have a migrant policy similar to the US whereby non citizens must carry & produce their papers on demand. This has led the significant civil unrest, especially among the younger generations, many of whom were born in the country. You can't say to them "if you don't like it leave!", where would they go? what choices do they have? What do you do if the country they were born in, live & work in, pay taxes in won't make you are citizen. You are effectively a second class 'citizen'. Granted the US is different but there are many similarities between US & French residents. The US needs to make a choice one way or the other; move in the direction that's popular here & tighten up borders, restrict internal movement of residents, restrict Govt financial support etc OR better manage the human resource to effectively improve the country for all. If you look at the problem with a more rational perspective, it would probably be more efficient to manage the never ending stream of hopeful immigrants rather than attempt to turn the flow off. They will never stop trying after all & you can’t blame immigration laws for all the problems a country might have Jerry, not to nitpick but the US doesn’t allow 30 day access. US border control is tightly controlled with ESTA & only certain countries have an ESTA agreement that allows certain passport holders the right to different conditions. And point itself adds weight to the notion that you can only really stop the honest people, those who are determined will side step the rules & regulations. Look at the US prison system, how would a prisoner import drugs into those high security places??? I don’t have a clue but I’ll bet they do & often…very hard to stop a determined person. It’s a big, complex problem that won’t be solved with simple solutions |
