Removal of 2 pole rotor magnet?
Any ideas how to get a 2 pole magnet off the shaft? I am guessing it is glued on, try some heat? I know I do not want to get the magnet too hot, but...
I have a shop press, and not ing to loose, I guess I could press the magnet off... Might shatter though. Also, where can I get 5mm motor shafts cheap? I know outrunners use them, try ebay? FYI, the problem is my c50 maxx motor broke the 1/8 portion of the shaft off, and I figured I would remove the magnet and replace the shaft with a 5mm one. If anyone has a L can feiago or hacker motor or rotor they do not want, it would save me the hassle... |

if you have any success, LMK... |
The only ones I have delt with are ones that the shaft has come loose and had to put them back on, but I think you could probably get the shaft hot and see if you can press it off. If it were me I would use a torch on the end of the shaft. I am sure you would have to be careful not to get it so hot that the rotor expands and shatters the magnet.

Also, be careful how much heat you apply since excessive heat demagnetizes magnets...

Instead of destroying the rotor, can't you make it fit in a B50 Hacker motor or Feigao 540 s size motor?

Linc, as I understood the magnets were held on by epoxy. Heat weakens epoxy, as far as I know. |
It came out very easily. I used a 20ton press but you could have used a bench vise, the shaft was barely stuck in there.

Sounds easy...

1st gen tekin T8 motors used a 5mm shaft...
I can't be the only one with 3 broken/fixed rotors:whistle: EDIT: I just used a vise and the magnet off of said tekin motor to push the hacker one off.. any recommendations on getting it to attach to the tekin shaft? |
Jb weld is what I plan to use. It is high heat epoxy. Will have to set all night, but who cares. I would also sand the area of the shaft where the epoxy will go.

Can't you use some 5mm round bar stock for the rotor?
You could heat it up and quench in old motor oil to harden it. |
I was thinking a outrunner motor shaft as those are sold somewhere cheap...

I have an extra tekin rotor/shaft...
you might want to cut it down, but having a motor with a shaft coming out both ends might be usefull... |

This would work. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXLBL8&P=7 It's the same one I used in my MMGT conversion. Good hardened steel.

Mcmaster has material for making a shaft if you don't have any luck.
Use the 1055 steel. Stainless bends too easy in this application. pn 6112K37 You can also use Sleeve retaining compound to hold it on the shaft. You can find at the autoparts store in the section where the locktite is. Jeff |
well, mine is "fixed" with JB weld...
I have nothing to test it or use it in... AKA LMK if your interested... |
