My kind of driving!! Lol

gtxracer 04.17.2011 10:24 PM

Yeah I am addicted to the go fast stuff right now. Can you tell? I tried to hide it. :mdr:

mac3194 04.17.2011 10:44 PM

Haha that's how I was with my 8T insane speed on 6s with the MMM2200!!!

gtxracer 04.17.2011 10:52 PM

I can't imagine 6s....but I'm still gonna try it sometime.

mac3194 04.18.2011 07:29 AM

What do u run 4s or 5s??

nastety92 04.18.2011 08:09 AM

The D8T looks great, nice video's.

What is the setup in you D8T?

Thanks,
Nick

gtxracer 04.18.2011 08:29 AM

I run 5s. I use to run only 4s but wanted a little extra power and I really like it. Thanks nastety! Here's my setup:

Mike's conversion
44/15 gearing
Tekin RX8/T8 1700kv combo
Badlands on VTR 4.0 wheels
Neu SP 5000 46C 5S packs
MX-3/7955TG

Overall it's a very good truck.

That looks like a great combo. I just picked up a D8T this weekend and I'm going to order Mike's conversion also. I was looking at the 1900kv Tekin motor instead of the 1700kv and I was planning on running it sensored off of my MM Pro.

It looks like a great truck so far, can't wait to drive it.

Nick

The 1900 is a buggy motor and I wouldn't recommend running it in any truggy. The MMPro might be able to handle it for a while, I ran one in my RC8T for a little while and it did fine.

So I guess I should go with the 1700kv motor insted.

I can say that I do not know much about these motors but I really want to be able to run the motor sensored. Ever since I hooked up my SC10 with a sensored motor now I want one for every truck.

Thanks for the help,
Nick

gtxracer 04.18.2011 11:36 AM

All of the Tekin motors are sensored and work with the MMPro so you're good to go there. The lower kv motors are more efficient and give better runtimes. I think they run cooler but maybe that's just my opinion. The 1700 is a good choice you can run it anywhere from 4s-6s without worry.

Thanks for all of the info. This is exactly what I'm looking for.

Have you ever tried running this motor on 3s to see what happens?

So at this point in your build. If you were to do anything differently, what would it be and why?

Thanks again,
Nick

hi, what kind of motor temps are you getting?
im running a pretty simulare setup 48\15 1600kv 6s but due to weather i havent had the opperturnity to test it yet

I haven't tried it on 3s, I imagine it would be pretty slow and it's not really designed for that low of voltage. If you wanted to run it on 3s-5s you'd want more of a 2250 or higher. Ideally you'd want around 2600kv which I think only Castle and Neu make truggy motors with that high of a kv rating.

If I had to do it again I'd probably sell the MMM combo that came with the truggy and go straight to a Tekin. I know a lot of people love Castle but I've had nothing but bad luck with their new products. I'm hard on things and have even killed a RX8 with heavy racing but it took over 40 packs for me to do that on my last truggy. Since this is a basher I don't have many regrets with the truck. If I were racing I would have went with a Mugen or Xray.

Motor temps are right where they should be. I haven't hit it with my temp gauge yet but I can tell by feeling the motor. Gearing helps a lot and I'm about to cut a vent hole in the body to get more air inside. Your setup will probably have more torque and slightly more speed than my setup on 5s depending on your batts.

freddy 04.18.2011 12:58 PM

the top speed will be almost the same i guess, maybe a bit more torque ore runtime.

ether way its a nice setup you have.

gtxracer 04.18.2011 03:39 PM

Thanks Freddy! Post some pics and a vid if you can when you get your setup running.

seems your not the only one breaking those hubs, 2 min in my first run with the car i smacked the rear wheel into the wall.. guess i was more worried about filming skills to my dad that joined me for the day than in fact controlling the car

atleast im happy with the power i was barly touching the stick

gtxracer 04.21.2011 12:22 PM

You broke the rear hubs? I broke the front plus the spindle and bent the hinge pin. I'm going to buy the aluminum hubs if I break one again.

freddy 04.21.2011 07:27 PM

yep only on the left side tho, it was my first real run on it so i wish it would lasted a bit longer

prob gonna order the stock one locally and the alus from tower as a backup

edit, sorry for the fingers

gtxracer 04.21.2011 09:12 PM

That was a pretty hard hit though. I'll be honest, I've broken a few Mugen arms doing the same thing on the front end.

freddy 04.22.2011 08:16 AM

And its alot heavier than stock nitro version + heavy chinese wheels so the damage isent that bad, just need the alu hubs.
