I'm just gonna say it....this place sucks!

Now that I've got you attention WTH! happen to this place??? Did we have a mass exodus of members or a mass banning?

I remember this place to be booming, like 30 new threads a day, and now there are weeks old threads still on the main page:neutral:

Were did every one go? This place was the shit! now it's like last years night club.

If you want the regular buzz with repeating threads you need to look elsewhere. To me RC-Monster is THE place to be if you want quality and technically superior answers. Not to mention you have CC, and other manufacturers, answering questions on this board.

But that's just my opinion.

What you're experiencing is the slow...or super slow version of what it used to be like. Not much banter now either, the combination of humour and tech was what made RCM stand out.

Things have slowed down a lot but I think people are hurting financially so are not doing hobby stuff as much and are being a lot more conservative about life in general. Some will also move on to other things as well.
Things will turn around and the banter was often limited to a few of the wittier beings on here with a lot of others listening in. I was listening to the news today at lunch time but tuned it out as there was nothing good at all to hear about.

Too bad

Yea it really is too bad that things have gotten so quiet around here. Honestly it is pretty much the same everywhere I look right now. All of the R/C sites have gotten quite stagnant these last few weeks. Most just do not have the money to pour into this hobby with our economy sucking so badly. I for one just don't have the positive cash flow to support what I want to do for electronics, batteries, or anything for that matter. I need some new Lipos, battery charger, and a solid power supply to get things moving and that is about $3K-$4K just to get power to our collection. From the looks of things now and whats to come from our Gov it is going to be a while to. Supporting 3 kids and assisting our other five kids isn't easy either.

Plus a few very experience guys have just moved on with other things to spend their money on.

this place rocks

it may not have a hundred posts a day but what is here is well thought out
and a lot of stuff on other forums now has already been well and truly sorted here long ago

and yes its one of the few that castle creations answer questions on and quickly too

and like nightclubs there is always a newer one down that road thats pumping
but its the originals that showed them how to party

BrianG 08.29.2011 09:59 AM

Yeah, it has slowed down here quite a bit. Like said, faith in the poor economy is not helping, as well as the fact lots of people are out of work. Simply higher priorities in life at the moment.

Also, back in the day, people were putting together brushless systems from components and converting vehicles because there just wasn't that many RTR stuff out there. Now, everyone and their brother is putting out RTR BL systems, so there is far less guesswork as to what runs with what.

Also, In looking at my server logs for my calc site, I still see a healthy traffic flow, so the interest is still there. It may be that most questions are answered with previously answered forum posts, so there is little need for new threads. This isn't the TRX forums where the same questions are asked over and over and over and over again - well, not as much anyway.

mistercrash 08.29.2011 10:45 AM

I don't post here as often because my attention is on RC helis and E-Scooters now but I do drop in from time to time to look at josh9mille's avatar.

josh9mille 08.29.2011 12:32 PM

Funny, I was just thinking about finding a new avatar. I have a feeling some people would be upset if I did.

Fast5sRevo88 08.29.2011 03:09 PM

And the heat down south is keeping alot of people indoors.

E-Revonut 08.29.2011 05:08 PM

I'm still here everyday to see what's going on. I have noticed that there aren't many new threads but anytime someone has a question there still seems to be someone around to answer it. Besides the economy slowing things down, I have noticed that every summer this forum slows down a little. People always have things going on during the summer and may not be playing with their RCs as much. I know that during the summer I rarely ever bash, it's just racing for me. Outdoor racing will conclude for me this year with the RC-Monster Bash next weekend, after that I'll be back to beating on my Savage Flux. Also if you want proof of traffic look at BrianG's thread on home defense, plenty of posts there

i wouldn't be upset, but i would miss it. btw, if you do change your avatar, i call dibs on your old one:lol:

Swindez85 08.29.2011 06:50 PM

Its all about quality over quantity and that's what this site is all about in my eyes. It would be nice to see alot of traffic on here but I do not want to see these forums become overrun by the same basic question in the same forum several times over, even on the first page like some forums I know. RC has taken a backseat for me here lately as I have been waiting patiently for my MMM to come back from CC for my ERBE and I have also been getting more hours at work the last couple of weeks so for me its usually wake up, work, home, eat sleep repeat and on my days off I just lounge around and enjoy not having to constantly be on the move like I am at work (I hate working retail).

crazyjr 08.29.2011 10:13 PM

I usually don't post due to not having much to contribute, or someone answered the topic before i could and there is nothing needing to be added. This is one of the best tech forums there is, I am including a lot of automotive forums. With the exception of a couple people, not an insult:smile:, Most content is tech filled and almost always up to date

Semi Pro 08.29.2011 10:19 PM

for me and my crew its been a pretty slow year, we have only gotten togeter to run afew times this year, between my company having to much work and other buddys not making enuf rc has been on the back burner.

that being said i come here daily still but i havent had much time to work on projects enuf to post about them

snellemin 08.29.2011 10:49 PM

Summer heat and family time has slowed me down. Not much new hardware around to mess with other than the ViperRc motor that was a flop and I have Tekin 4 pole 540 motor on order to mess with and post my results. I just got back from a trip doing the warrior dash in NC. Spend some vacation time with the fam. I had to buy new tires for my suv. I've only been to a RC track twice this summer and busted up 1 car pretty good. I am putting bamboo wood floor in my house, so no more extra money really. Oh today I got me a Futaba brushless servo for my 4s2p 1/8 rally truck that I have on the back burner.

Swindez85 08.30.2011 12:00 AM

Well now that we mention it, I am actually supposed to be getting my replacement MMM tomorrow by the ups tracking number they sent me last friday. Then ill be spending the majority of the evening wiring it up along with my external capacitor bank and my external BEC so tom is going to be filled full of soldering.

Edit - And like snellemin said, this atrocious summer heat we have had here in the southeast has kept me inside for the better part of the summer.

JERRY2KONE 08.30.2011 01:36 AM

Busy busy busy.

It seems that most of us have just been busy doing too many other things. I personally have not been working since December. I started working again recently, but have yet to receive a paycheck. I have over 200 hours in already, but payroll in South Carolina was having issues with their data center. Besides that It will take a few months for us to get all of our summer vacation debt caught up so I can have some fun money again. Plus having to spend lots of money getting the kids ready for school this year set us back as well. We had to purchase two Mac-book Pro laptops for our boys entering high school, and then last week their math class required them to have the new TI-84, so I had to track them down and purchase those as well. Now all three of our kids are doing week long school field trips around Europe, and those are not cheap either. The expenses just keep coming. Luckily for us their tuition is paid by the Gov due to us being assigned overseas at the cost of $30K per student.

Dafni 08.30.2011 07:32 AM

Brushless conversions are not what they used to be. Not too long ago a BL Savage or a BL Revo was something special. And then the whole 1/8 story... it was more fun to me when it was still special.... All the RTR brushless stuff kinda took the fun away for me.

JERRY2KONE 08.30.2011 08:54 AM

Fun

In saying all of that it seems to me that the fun is what it should be. Even with BL RTR's coming out all over the place the fun is still in creating something that is better than whatever RTR they can come up with. That is what keeps any industry moving forward. Being creative even when it seems that there is no place to go with the technology. I still love the build, and creating my own parts in ways that are better than even the major manufacturers seem to be doing. Sure BL is the main stream now, but that is a good thing to. The BL motors just keep getting better and better. Plus there is more of a variety in specs to chose from, which makes playing more fun. It does seem that the playing field is pretty level in technology now and that leaves performance up to the individual driver to win or lose. As it should be. For the average basher the sky is the limit depending on how much you wish to spend.

magman 08.30.2011 08:27 PM

I still visit to see what's cookin', but not nearly as much for sure. Still fun to see conversions done and to see new rides regardless of new/old.
