1/4 rc car project twin brushless motor
Hello
This is my first post here and I want to show some virtual images of a project I'm making, is still in the design phase but is basically ready and I can start joining some stuff that I'll need. I also did a comparison test between the dimensions of my project and an Hpi baja 5b in order to have a better sense of the actual size! hope you enjoy! Specīs Dimensions Lenght:1010mm (40 in) Height: 272mm (10.5 in) Width: Front 645mm / Rear 640mm (25 in) Wheelbase: 785mm(31 in) Ride height: 75mm(3 in) Weight: 13.5kg (29.7lbs) Motor and esc spec twin brushless motor leopard 5692 1000kv 4x lipo 6s 5200mAh total of 20800mAh in paralell Esc 150A Xerun transmission and Steering 4-wheel drive 3 differentials twin servo hitec 805bb 6.0v(24.70 kg-cm) tyres Ø 195mm, width 110 mm, rims 110mm http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...emonstrao2.jpg http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...gane/demo3.jpg http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...ONSTRACAO1.jpg http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...gane/demo2.jpg http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...emonstrao3.jpg http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...gane/demo1.jpg http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...OHPIVSJMFB.jpg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RyL_FzJoB3w |
nice!!! This should be a fun thread to follow! :)

Are you plaanning two esc's? not sure if One to two motors can be done proper. I think you are running both not enough esc and too much battery. Why not slpit the battery and run two esc's? or split the battery and series it to a bigger, stronger esc and better motor for this application? If it were me, I'd split the battery and make a 12s 10,400mah , at least a 200 amp esc (12s capable) and either a plettenberg bolido or a lehner 3080 motor

Looks like quite a project! I'll be keeping my eye on your progress. Good luck!
What differentials are you using for this? |
Mamba xl combo, should be capable of putting out plenty of power

hello! This car will use two xerun esc's and must have a maximum of 6s lipo which is what the esc can handle. This esc is very good compared to others on the market that cost three times more and does pretty much the same thing. I'd like to use another esc, but still very expensive, it is better to wait a while and then the price of these new esc like mamba will be more accessible Here is a picture with the two options which can be used to reduce weight or increase autonomy.! http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...tivodepeso.jpg |

Depending on the weight I think you could get away with some 8th scale differentials. The LST2 differentials are extremely tough.
|
The differentials coming from 8th scale would suffer because the car will weigh 26lbs to 30 lbs I really have to use 1/5 1/6 diffs as the HPI baja, fg monstertruck or otherwise the motors will break the diffs.
|
thats insane man ......... motor = +1800gr ...... battery= +3500g ...... 2esc ...... if you build this provably will destroy many diffs, but will be an epic project...... :D
regards and good luck ..... we waiting notices/photos of the construction :) |
You should try the flux diff.. never heard anyone managed to break it yet.

not the ring and pinion but have seen the small bearing break lots - fix is to run vorza plastic cup and bearing alloy cup snap under that same bearing - same fix spider gears and shafts break - hb lightning fit and are stronger output gears snap at the pin cutout - hb lightning fits again whole front bearing mounts broken right out of the bulkhead - fix is alloy bulkhead this 1/4 project looks good will be interesting to see how the centre diff handles it and the weight of the motors and battery s could maybe go forward the more weight to the front the better especially with centre diff |
Hello
The diffs that I intend to use are similar to the diffs of the photos, I saw these pictures on the net and you can get an idea of their size,The diffs of the flux are not meant to take on so much weight and on this car(27lbs) I do not believe that the flux diffs could last to long! About the weight distribution I will try to move forward the lipos 3 inches and the motores 2 inches which is the maximum that can go. http://i579.photobucket.com/albums/s...t/DSCF4903.jpg http://i579.photobucket.com/albums/s...t/DSCF4904.jpg |
I agree - you want those big diffs in this car. I've seen that 1/8 scale diffs can hold up in an 18-19lb truck but I wouldn't use them in anything over 20lbs.

Have you considered the Redcat 1/5 scale diffs? I'd have to assume that they would be less expensive than the FG stuff, but still tough as well. I haven't heard of any failures with them either, other than bearings wearing out which can be fixed with better quality bearings. I agree with Brian though. Certain 1/8 scale diffs are tough and can be made to withstand alot of abuse, but not that much abuse and weight.
|
I've searched for redcat diffs but could not find prices or many stores with that stuff on sale. I already searched the diffs from hpi baja and the price is almost the same as the fg and they look smaller to me so in this case I am more determined to buy the fg diffs
|
these appear to be the redcat 1/5 diffs:

Thanks for your help! Now I know I do not want the Redcat diff . I prefer the kit in this link because it seems better built and has some extras parts that I can use for this project!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/FS-1-5-RC-BU...item5ae000b43c What do you think about this kit? To me it seemed to me excellent and comes equipped with the transmissions for front wheels |
That's a nice looking gear set. The ring and pinion being helical cut will be smoother and much less likely to fail. Seems like a pretty good deal for the price.
|
I think this is the kit that I'll buy, but they are just 3 diffs, and the price rises to 260$ :surprised:
|
I really hope you finish this car, it would be one of the better self made 1/5 BL cars ever:yipi::yes::intello::lol:

I am guessing this never happened
|
yea no posts in a while. a losi 5ive would be all the parts he would need. the castle XL combo on 8s would be more than enough. 10 HP. get a mgm controller at 14s and one guy claimed 14 HP out of that motor.
