Tekin RX8 and RC8Te
HI, I will try my first eletric truggy and woud like to know what (in your opinion) would be a good start combo for this car. I will "play" on tracks and bash a little too. Maybe a 2000kv and 4s nanotech would be great? Do I need thatīs amazing rates like 50/90C? How it works?
Thank you |
nobody???

I run a Tekin rx8/2000 combo on 4s in my 6T. Perfect. I am still running 35C packs, and it can still beat the nitros at our track. |

SO 2000kv and 5s would be too much? What spur and pinion do you use in your MBx-6T? |
On 5s I would prefer a little slower motor. I ran a Neu 1515 2.5D (1650kv) in my RC8T on 5s. Also ran a 2200kv on 4s. It's a great track combo. 2000kv might be a good compromise if you want to run 4s and 5s. I've only ever ran 25C packs and never had a problem.

The conversion kit cames with 46 and 50T spur and 15 amd 16T pinion. What would be a good rate for a 2000kv 4S setup? |
50/16 should be decent for the track with a 2000kv on 4s, but it depends on the track too.

Thank you... And just to understand a little more, with the same 50Tspur, If I change the 16T pinion for a smaller one, the car will be less speed and more tork, is it? In any situation the system will be more stressed (hot)? Regards |
If you put to high of gearing (smaller spur or bigger pinnion) things will start heating up. I don't have any experience with the Tekin equipment but I know that on my setup I never got to hot. When I was racing I usually took it easy cause it was better to finish 4th every race than to get crazy and try winning and braking or messing up cause I was pushing to hard. There where times things would get a little warm when I did start pushing it harder because I had the opportunity to win though, but still well within the temperature range of the motors.

Do you use the original brushless conversion from team associated? I read in some place that this conversion (is mine too) has really small batery case. Since I donīt receive mine yet, I would like to know the size of the battery case, so I could buy the batterys. Iīm afraid to buy a batery that didnīt fit on the RC8T case. If you use the original case, could you check the size? Thank you for your help... Best regards |
Hey Ivan,
I have a RC8Te. I have a Tekno V4 conversion kit waiting to go on but at the moment I still run the Team Associated conversion kit. Anyway yes the battery tray is tight but I can still fit a Turnigy 5000mah 40C soft packs of 4-6S cell count. The 8awg wires are bit of a tight fit but it fits. As for the motor I think the either 2D (2000kv) or the 2.5D (1700kv) versions of the T8 would work fine in a truggy depending on track, gearing and cell count you chose. I run Castle 1518 (1800kv) ESC in my RC8Te and the thing is a beast on 5S. On 6S I fear that the drivetrain wouldn't last long at all. I have 30K diff fluid in the center diff and it still lifts the front end if I am not careful with the throttle. |

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...Lipo_Pack.html Do you have a caliper (scale or ruler) to mensure the battery tray for me? I still not receive the kit here (more than a month to arrive in Brazil) and if I need to wait the kits arrives to buy the batterys, one more month to get ready..:( Thank you for the suport |
I used the RC-Monster conversion not the associated one

Pretty sure the associated tray is meant to hold two ROAR approved hard case 2s packs standing on their edges, figure out those measurements and your set

I`ve put atleast 40+ packs of 5s 5000mah (22-23min run time) on my RC8T CE tekno v4, with a cc1520 1600kv, and havent touched the driveline once since new.... This thing is the strongest bugger i`ve seen.
I`ve landed on full throttle ALOT of times, and used it hard on both gravel and black top. Jump 30-40ft every single day i drive it. i should have done some more service along the way though, cause the rear diff got sloppy (worn), and i think it`s about to wear out the pinion/sun gear now. So i should had opened and reshimmed it after 10-15 packs, i know ;) But a 24 dollar diff from ebay, and i`m all set. I also have ordered a complete bearing kit for it, to do a big service now. I have no doubt it would handle 6s without any problems, all day. |

No, i actually think the v4 is heavyer, if there`s any difference.. But it cant be much..
BUT i`ve checked my corner weights, and they are close to perfect with 5s 5000mah in my v4... I think it was approx 30gram difference between the lightest and heaviest corner.. Havent tried to adjust the springs to make it 100% even, so i dont know if thats possible.. But i was very happy as it was also :) I HIGHLY doubt the AE conv. kit makes the car that well balanced, just by looking at the big difference of the layouts.. |

Pretty sure the tray is 150mm long. I know for a fact that Turnigy 5000mAh 40C packs fit regardless of the cell count. I am using Turnigy 4S and 6S 5000mAh 40C and 5S 5000mAh 30C packs in my RC8Te and RC8Be. They fit although just. It's a tight squeeze but I have no problem getting them in and out of the battery trays.
My RC8Te runs a 1518 now but used to run 1520 as well. I had to use the 1520 in another project so I fitted the 1518 now. Anyway both motors have been ran on everything from 4S to 6S and no issues at all. Well I did have a few tires separate from the wheels. |

I will need to wait to my truggy arrives before to buy one with confidence...any one have a caliper to know exactly the tray size? Thank you... |
OK, I was lying. It actually turns out that the internal dimensions are 145-146mm X 49-50mm. Still all the Turnigy 5000mAh 40C and 30C soft packs will fit. Here are some pics of the Turnigy 6S 5000mAh 40C pack in my RC8T.

It's a 10 second job with a hobby knife. http://i42.tinypic.com/sc8e88.jpg Maybe you can see what I mean in this photo. You can see the black wire is right in the corner and would have been pressing hard against the battery box if I didn't trim it a little. I hope that helps. Sorry, as I am not the best with a camera but hope that clears up a few things for ya. What cell count were you thinking of running in your RC8T Ivan? If you are going to run 4S I am certain that Gens Ace 4S 5000 40C hardcase packs will fit too. They are a great battery. |

Thank you for you help... Regards |
i ran a tekin t8 2000kv/hobbywing 150amp esc for the rfirst time today in my rc8t. i really liked the sensored feeling over unsensored castle mamba monster/1800kv. 46/15 gave good topend speed with nice smooth bottom end. temp checked every 90 seconds or so and it ran cool as a cucumber:lol:
i am using the ae conversion kit,my 5000mah 4s fit perfectly. to fit my 6000mah nano i had to spin the esc and go the hack on the esc shelf and battery tray. now they fit perfect . am looking forward to getting it on the track and see what sort of runtimes i can get out of this 2000kv |
