Favorite gift this year?

Kind of a throwback to the old schoolyard topic of what everyone got this Christmas. May seem materialistic I know but we all have diferent flavors here and some like myself are satisfied very simply sometimes. Anywho other than being able to spend this Christmas with the wife and kids instead of working was fabulous. On top of that my wife suprised me with crispy mnm's. I know it's kinda wiered but evidently they stopped making/selling them in the USA a while back. So now it would appear that Germany is the country that knows what's up with the crispy candies! Now sitting here dining on some German mnm's! Ahh life's simple pleasures.

Sorry it wasn't a story about me running over the neighbors cat @ 100mph with my new traxxas cause I was staring at my iPhone dashboard texting while driving! Ha ha!

Anyone else get anything cool?

E-Revonut 12.25.2011 10:33 PM

No one to buy me any goodies so I bought some for myself. Replaced my aging Craftsman cordless tools with some Dewalt tools, bought a RC10R5 Oval, FT RC10 T4.1, and a tire truer

steveo 12.25.2011 10:34 PM

E-Revonut 12.25.2011 10:38 PM

Nice to see some other Union Brothers in here! I'm a sheetmetal worker, Local 58. Unfortunately I've been out of work 75% of the year. Different unions but we're still a dying breed

scarletboa 12.25.2011 11:05 PM

for me, it's a toss up between the used slash 4x4 i bought myself or the Dr. Dre Solo HD headphones i got.

slimthelineman 12.25.2011 11:11 PM

Right on fellas. I'm from Lu 396. Would have to sadly agree that the once strong unions and their pride and quality work are looking like a thing of the past nowadays. Sad to hear some brothers are not working. This year was good I guess. Worked about 10-11 months this year. Glad to see fellow members enjoying some of the fruits of their labors. +1 on the bluray and surround, it's pretty awesome. Also glad to hear som r/c is happening for others. Haven't ran any of my rigs since we moved north on mothers day.

Tabletop foosball table to play with my kids: "Daddy, you have to let us score sometime!"

nastety92 12.26.2011 08:01 AM

I got a Hakko 888 soldering station.

Now the fun begins.

My boss gave me a Thunder Tiger EB4 G3 for Christmas. Thought that was very nice of him. Sadly I haven't had a chance to open the box yet. Hopefully soon.

Overdriven 12.26.2011 11:21 AM

A nice, thick base non-stick frying pan that won't warp, silverware, a bunch of gift cards (lowes, bed bath & beyond) and a week off to spend them on the stuff I need to finish moving into my first house.

No rc presents for me, though I did give the gift of rc. A new servo for my nephews Ofna buggy I built him last year, and a spare 1520 for my brother inlaw's muggy.

snellemin 12.26.2011 12:17 PM

I got me a set of 5.5" crawler tires for my Rustler, which is running with a used 1900kv Tekin buggy motor I got from ebay for cheap. Runs on two 2s and timing boost. Hella fun. Mrs. got me a 10-24mm Tamron lens for my camera.

magman 12.26.2011 12:50 PM

Remote start for my truck for me. I really don't need any new rc gear. Heck, after 5 vehicles, parts and batts, don't need much more. Although, for my b-day a few weeks ago, I did treat myself to a new Ten T w/the RCM conversion kit already installed :)

I think so...seems like a great little truggy. Running on a 3s set up with a Tekin 2650 and MMP with a sensored setup it is soooo smooth. Haven't had a lot of run time but, so far me likey!!

It replaces my crt.5 which I thought was a little to brittle for my liking

The beats are not good at all. They are good for style but if you actually want great sound quality look elsewhere.

coolhandcountry 12.26.2011 05:48 PM

I ordered myself some RC parts. Other then that really didn't have money to spend so just felt good to spend time with family.

rchippie 12.27.2011 10:03 AM

as far as sound goes a $50 pair of sony headphones sound equally as good. Same driver size, and better specs actually. The Dre phones fold up for travel, and have iDevice controls which the sonys don't have.

I just think the Dres are overpriced, but you pay for cool factor. I'm sure you'll love them:yes:

snellemin 12.28.2011 01:17 AM

A good set of Sony's will last you a long time. Get the Sony model MDR-V6. It's the cheaper version, that is used by Studio's and DJ's world wide. The more expensive version just uses gold plated plugs. It has a flat sound, basically what goes in comes out. It can be had for 80 bucks brand new and the earpads can still be found on ebay. The drivers are the same for the past few decades. If you want something cheaper, look into the old school Koss. Radio shack carry's the Koss brand too. That Beats crap is just that. I got a headache listing too it after 10 minutes or so, when HP had them for demo at work. The Beats audio in the computers are very good, just the headphones suck.

George16 12.28.2011 09:39 AM

I got an Ipad2 for Christmas but being with my parents, siblings, in-laws, nieces and nephews was priceless. This was the first time we spent the holiday dinner together since 2005 due to being stationed overseas. Everyone had a great time. I was stuffed!!!!

Best present of all Lito! Congrats man and I am glad you came home safe....:yipi:

lincpimp 12.28.2011 04:41 PM

Got a real nice auto knife. It is a Benchmade Boguszewski Spike. Older knife, made in the 90s, discontinued already.

Also got some candy/chocolates. And a cool tiny shop vac so I can clean my work bench and work area off easily between projects.

And a few guns.

slimthelineman 12.28.2011 08:12 PM

Glad to hear everyone has enjoyed the holidays and made it there safely. Have a safe and happy new year.

But hey, at least it's a car!

Also bought myself a new ASUS Radeon HD 6950 GPU, and overclocked it to 6970 specs...

And a new 650W power supply!

el tomaso 12.29.2011 04:20 AM

I got a 3s 40C 5000mah lipo, a MMPro and a couple of good digital servos for my Ve8 that I am putting together:yipi: I am going to use a flux tork 2650kv motor.

Sounds like one of the best one so far!

My birthday being yesterday, my older brother gave me his old White MacBook..

Coming from a ~20lb, 5 minute-lasting-Sony-VAIO, I'm grateful!

Though, I won't lie, I'm wanting a MacBook Pro before I go to college!

Merry christmas

Well let me see. With having to work and live overseas year round we do not get to see or spend holiday time with any of our extended family. So we poured ourselves into making Christmas a memorable time for our kids. We took everybody to midnight mass in a cathedral in downtown Prague that we knew was really old, but had no idea just how old it really was. St Thomas was built in 1200AD, an is absolutely beautiful inside. It was so cold that we could see our breath during the mass.

As for my presents well I asked for nothing material. I requested that the kids put their differences aside and be kind to one another throughout the holiday season, which brought peace to our household for a while. Who could ask for more. I still have R/C parts coming in from recent orders and and second hand purchases and have managed to collect quite a bit of rare stuff for our collection. I received enough HCR titanium parts to build just about an entire SuperMaxx. Plus I stumbled upon a slew of UE parts that will provide a great deal of comfort in spares for my trucks for years to come, including UE 8-spyder diffs, UE CVD's, UE Servo Saver parts, UE racer-X and EXT steering knuckles, HB hardend diff gear sets, along with a bunch of ceramic bearings, and CVD rubber boots. So I took care of my own stuff this year, and gave the wife an I-Pad 2, which made her smile.

Since the subject of headphones came up, how are Skullcandy headphones? My kid bought a set of the cheapest ones they have and she said they sound way better than the stock ipod phones....but thats probably isnt saying much. I know Skullcandy makes several different headphones in several price ranges, just wondering if the sound quality is good. I have never heard of them before she bought them

I haven't owned or listened to any myself, but every one of my friends that has owned a pair has loved them. They were very popular in my high school.

el tomaso 02.02.2012 10:04 AM

When I bought my previous phone, which was a "music phone" they included a set of some very cool scullcandy headphones with the first some number of phones they sold. They looked good, fit ok, and sounded like the koss porta-pro with a little less bass. I wouldn't think they gave away their best models....
