Date set on mamba maxx Sorry no pics

Found a thread with a date on the release of the mamba maxx http://forums.radiocontrolzone.com/s...d.php?t=219271

Cool. Judging by the few pictures at the castlecreations site, it looks like it will be best suited for larger buggies. I wonder how good the Monster Max will be...

coolhandcountry 05.09.2006 06:41 PM

Don't have to much longer for some one to test it out.
I think metal man is a test man for them.

MetalMan 05.09.2006 08:01 PM

I'm tcolesen over there :).

Nick 05.10.2006 03:43 AM

I hope it isn't like the HV Maxx. Low cell counts, abit boring. :(

nbcaznmaster 05.10.2006 01:17 PM

i hope its cheaper!

sleebus.jones 05.10.2006 03:42 PM

Ugh. Saying that the monster maxx is gonna be a while, really bums me out. They've been promising the mamba maxx since November and have delivered zip. They're about 6 months late...and if you count their original press release they are about 17 months late.

I'm just about to drop the hammer on a setup from here and be done. This is getting silly. I mean, I love castle and all that, the 8000kv is an awesome setup...but every time I call they spin this "its coming out real soon, we're playing with them now" etc, etc.

i think the monster maxx is only 18 cells :036:

squeeforever 05.10.2006 07:46 PM

I was under the impression that it was 16.

stampy 05.10.2006 07:59 PM

it might be. i though i read somewere it was 18 though:032:

coolhandcountry 05.10.2006 08:00 PM

Still better than 12. 16 or 18 is not to shabby.

MetalMan 05.11.2006 12:06 AM

Unless they have changed it, it's 16.

Dafni 06.28.2006 03:53 AM

Any news on the Mamba Max?

MetalMan 06.28.2006 09:52 AM

The units for the Beta testers (we get priority) will be shipping within the next few days.

SpEEdyBL 06.28.2006 01:27 PM

What does that mean? I thought you had already gotten yours for testing.

Monkey 06.28.2006 02:04 PM

think he means the final productionmodel the testers get at the end of tersting just before release as a thank you/incentment to do it in the first place

sleepy23 06.28.2006 07:32 PM

yeah, i guess i will plan on buying one in like 6 more months when they finally come out.

MetalMan 06.28.2006 08:19 PM

Monkey has it right. The complimentary unit is what I'll be getting. It should ship out tomorrow. When I get it, I'll make sure to take plenty of pictures :004:. I think Castle right now is working on a fix that will allow the Mamba Max to function properly when used with two specific Futaba receivers. It works fine with everything else, and since I don't run Futaba, I said I'd take one "right now" :027:

coolhandcountry 06.28.2006 08:30 PM

What motor you plan on getting metal man?
Are you going to get to test out the bigger one to?

sleepy23 06.28.2006 09:52 PM

i guess the question is...when will the controller AND motors be out? too bad CC wont start selling the controller to those that dont use futaba.

MetalMan 06.29.2006 09:15 AM

I got the 5700.
I might be testing out the larger Mamba, but I'm not sure yet.
My guess is that CC won't release the Mamba to the public until they fix the issue with the two Futaba receivers. This can eliminate some bad user feedback from those that would end up using their Futaba only to find out that it doesn't work.

sleepy23 06.29.2006 09:29 AM

when it does hit the market, i am wanting to pick up the mamba max and the 7700 motor.

MetalMan 06.29.2006 10:35 AM

For those who haven't seen it yet (you could have about a month ago), here's a pic:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/attac...hmentid=872216
Note that there are only 3 motor choices, not 4.

MetalMan 06.30.2006 12:29 AM

Woohoo!
http://www.castlecreations.com/products/mamba_max.html
Who'll be the first (besides me :005: ) to get one?

captain harlock 06.30.2006 12:53 AM

Hey, what about the Mamba Monster Max?

Dafni 06.30.2006 05:05 AM

Woo-Hoo!!! Just in time for one of my projects!
I guess I should stock up on spurs and pinions.

Originally I wanted the 4600, but now I decided on the 5700. (2S running, with occasional 3S madness. Should be wicked!)

Nice! :043:

CC hasn't been doing much work on it. They mainly have been trying to get out the 1/10 system. My estimate for the Monster version is about 6 months.

squeeforever 06.30.2006 11:00 AM

Is it ROAR legal?

MetalMan 06.30.2006 11:07 AM

No. It wouldn't be powerful if it were ROAR legal :019:.

sleepy23 06.30.2006 12:25 PM

well i gues i am the second one to get it, i say it at like 9:30am eastern time today and ordered the 7700 combo at like 9:32am today.

Actually, the only ROAR requirements I remember (that the motors we use don't meet) are that they don't have the company name stamped into the endbell and, I think but I'm not sure, solder tabs like the Novaks.

MetalMan 06.30.2006 04:17 PM

There's more than that. For one thing, the Mamba Max motors are 540-sized (the rotors). Novak/LRP rotors are 400-sized, which is what they need to be to be ROAR legal. Also, the winding pattern of the Mamba Max motors might not be right.

But hey, why should ROAR not allow these new motors/controllers? They're better AND cheaper (and the prices will continue to drop) than the Novak/LRP motors/controlers, which means they're easier to obtain for the normal person. At my local track I'll see if they'll let me race with a Mamba Max setup and 2s Lipo - wish me luck! (it's SoCal RC Raceway, and they're not the type that would normally stray from ROAR rules)

squeeforever 06.30.2006 04:54 PM

Good luck! My track doesn't really have a problem with LiPo, brushless, ect. Well...except for the fact that they make fun of the 2 electric ST's when they go down the straight....I actually found it kinda funny when they did the nitro sounds for them :005: Anywho, Quark has a system, I believe, that just came out or is coming out that is sensorless and ROAR legal :D

MetalMan 06.30.2006 05:03 PM

Yeah, there is that Quark setup (Hacker motor). It should work well, but I'll bet you can't get it for $220 when it first comes out :dft002:.

squeeforever 06.30.2006 05:23 PM

I'm sure you could get the motor for $220 if you found a good deal :p.

MetalMan 06.30.2006 05:30 PM

Just the motor or both? The Mamba Max ESC is only $135 by itself... And prices haven't even had time to drop yet. The Quark 80amp is $200 (and can't be lowered because Quark said so).

The GTB has been out for a while already, and the cheapest (non-coupon) price is about $210. That means that the Mamba Max has a very high value relative to other systems out there!

seth556 06.30.2006 05:32 PM

The Hacker motor that Quark recomends is only $180 then another $200 for the speedo. So I'm going to stick with getting a Mamba Max. But I'll wait for the price to come down, thanks for tell us that metalman.

captain harlock 06.30.2006 05:36 PM

Can I guarantee the quality and performance?
I've used the Pheonix 60 controller and it was really good.

sleepy23 06.30.2006 05:41 PM

anyone been able to find the estimated power output? i thought i saw somewhere that is was 1000 watts for these motors which converts to like 1.3hp

MetalMan 06.30.2006 05:48 PM

CC says 1000watts. But, that's limited by your batteries. You'll need about 10cells to get consistant 1000watt output.

The Mamba Max is very high quality. The public has known about the existance of this system for two years, which shows that CC has been working for a long time on it to get it right (and this is the reason why the Monster version still isn't out).
