12 Cell Brushless T2 Build Up
I got a associated T2 on ebay, and it just came in the mail today. I am ready to order everything for it (brushless) but i im not sure if i should get the BK wanderer 10s or 12s. I planed on geting the feigao 12s, but since rc-monster has a 10s, im not sure. Does anyone know if the 10s can handle 12 cells?
I also have a rustler, and i can belive how much lighter the T2 is, and im sure the T2 isnt the lightest truck ever. |
12 cells would be a bit too much for the 10s for normal driving. 10 cells would suit it better for average driving, but would still be too much to control!
Well i decided to get a charger that can charge 4-12 cells, so im oped to different set ups. Which set up is faster. I want to go around 50-60 mph.
12s - 12 cell 10s - 10 cell 8s - 7 cell - 8 cell |
The highest cell count will provide the highest speed simply because it has more power. The 12s on 12 cells will easily push you to 50mph+ depending on the gearing, as long as you have room to reach that speed!
I run my 8S on 7-8 cells or on 3S lipo. With good lipo's it is a blast..
how fast does it go?
45-50 mph with ease..
For a 2wd it is too fast. it wheelies if the tires can get grip. ;) |
James, I would recommend a charger that can also charge lipos since its the wave of the future.
I have the adhd or add thing, so i wouldnt trust my self with any lipos till im like 18-20 years old. if i got some right know i would probably end up burning me house down. Would the 10s handle 12 cells, or would it get to hot?
Does anyone know if the 10s can handle the 12 cells without burning up? I want to order everything tonight.
It wont burn up but it will overheat very easily. Definately go with the 12s for 12 cells. 60 mph isn't the biggest trouble. Keeping the car on the ground is.
I ordered the 12s. This is everything i ordered........
- BK Wanderer 12s - MGM 80 - 12 cell charger - 12 Matched GP3700 batterys - Paddle tires - Front mohak tires - 4 geolander tires - 3 piece rims (black) - 81 tooth spur gear - front and rear red springs (firm) - 2 spare dog bones I ended up spending alot more money than i wanted to. Is the shipping from this site fast? |
he usually ships very quickly

Here area few pics. I was thinking about puting the 12s brushless on 12 cells in the duratrax delphi indy car (Only 1 pound). I got bored last week, and sand blasted, and wet sanded the T2 chassis.

NO! The infamous gold tub chassis! Was something wrong with the gold anodizing?
It was a black t2 chassis wasn't it?
LIke to see a video when you get it done james.
It wasnt gold, It was almost like a black. It looked black from a few feet away, but when you get up close it was a very dark purple, and was all scratched up. I am going to get it anodized next week. Im going boat racing this weekend in Franklin P.A. and its on a lake called One Mile Run, and by there is a huge open grass field, and spots with sand, and a rode, thats not very bussy. I hope averything comes in time. Which collor should i get it anodized? Im not sure all the colors the guy does, but i know he does red, and blue, mabey if does yellow or goldish type of color.
Oops, for some odd reason I thought that they were gold like the original "gold tubs":013: . I'm not much of a AE guy obviously but I do like the gold tubs.
I'd polish it before you anodise it,i like the look of hard anodised the best and it wears better.

Everything came in today, but no one told me i needed some kind of plug that goes from the motor to the ESC, and from the ESC to the battery's. I thought it came with them. Can some one tell me ASAP to everything ill need, how many, and where to get it. I need to order everything tponight so i can know for sure ill have it thursday. Ill post pics later tonight.
5.5mm plugs for the motor/controller (but you can solder them together directly)
and deans for the batteries/controller. that would be my choice. whatever you do, don't use the cheap tamiya plugs! |
What kind of wire?
5.5mm for the MGM 80? I was just looking at it, and measured, and it was 4mm. Is it supposed to be like that?
The ones that go into the esc are 3.5 I believe but for the motor (if it's a Wanderer) you need 5.5mm from the motor.
You'll need 3.5mm plugs to go to the MGM,you could use the same at the motor end or 5.5mm plugs or direct solder to the motor wires.
12 gauge wire like the deans Mike carries will be fine. |
I ordered some stuff and overnight it. 16 tooth pinion, and a 18 tooth pinion, 3 5.5mm connectors, 3 3.5mm connectors, and some other stuff.
I Put the motor in the T2, and i noticed it was really crooked. And it actually looked like the whole trany was crooked. I surned the spur gear, and every few turns there was a tight spot, and some grinding. Im going to take it apart tonight, and check everything out. Has any one had this problem befor? |
I fixed the tranny, but i dont know how to use this charger. Its the GWS-MC2002 i got from off shore electrics. I have a super brain 809 i got like 7 years ago, and was wondering if i could plug the 809 charger in to the wall, and plug the two car battery plugs from both chagers into each other, so the suped brain would be the 12V power supply. Is this idea completly stupid? There is als a knob on th charger that sais current adj. (%) then around the knob is 10-20-30-40-50-60-70-80-90. And a bunch of people told me to get a lipo charger, but i wouldnt trust my self with lipos till im like 18-20. I would burn down my house, or ruin them some how. Thanks for the help
how do i know which plug on the esc goes to the hole on the motr?
It doesn't matter.
How about the battery? I tried both ways, and there was a spark right where the battery, and esc plug in. Did the spark ruin anything?
No, a spark is usual although its possible if you tried the battery both ways....Only one way to find out although its unlikely.
I re-sodered (spelling) everything, and it seems to work now with no sparks.
Was it a big spark or what? If it was a big spark then it would have been shorted. But a small spark is usual...at least for my 9920 and others like it. Not sure about the MGM though.
It was a little spark. I turned everything on to see if it would work, and i cant figure out how to program the ESC. After 10 seconds it just keeps beeping, and a red light is flashing.
Also the motor jerks foward a tiny bit every time it beeps
Did you read the manuel?
Sparks are normal when plugging the batteries into the controller. This happens because the capacitors on the controller charge up very quickly when there is a potential difference provided to them. The spark is merely representative of a high inrush current.
