my next project- A BRUSHLESS SNOWMOBILE!
Oh man, I felt like it's my birthday:party: I'm pretty stoked about this!
I have been buttoning up all my projects and selling off anything unused. I have made the decision that I absolutely cannot buy any more r/c's or start any new projects. My focus has been on maintaing what I have and acquiring running supplies to make my r/c-ing more enjoyable. Well, I am in a pretty good position. Most of my projects are complete, maintenance is up to date on existing vehicles and pending an e-bay sale I'm about to order $500 in batteries and chargers from hobbyking. But I've had a New Bright r/c snowmobile sitting on my shelf for years. It was always last in line. Always passed over in favor of more traditional r/c's. My plan was always to upgrade it to hobby grade components. THE TIME HAS COME! Like I said, I'm in a good position r/c wise and it was about time I start on the new bright. AND THEN I STUMBLED UPON THIS: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...#ht_632wt_1329 The auction has ended, but you can see the details. The guy that made the snowmobile in the ad is selling a kit to convert new bright snowmobiles to hobby grade. I have already contacted him and have a kit on order. It is $200 for the kit, plus shipping. I wanted to do my own conversion, but this kit eliminates so much guesswork and hassle. It would have taken me years to make something as finished looking and functional as this. I concede, this guy did a better job than I would have. I'm going to just drop the coin, and soon I will be driving a brushless snowmobile!:na: |
a video:yes:

better get it soon! starting to get late in the season, not sure about over there, but so far it's been a pretty dry snow season in ND.
Looks awesome though...!!!! |

Did you watch the vid? This snowmobile can do asphalt drags:party: |
Put some titanium under the front skids and do some night running on the road - cool vid waiting to be done!!
|
That looks like a fun r/c and bigger than I expected.(yeah, yeah that what she said I know)
Good luck with it. |
I would DEFINATELY buy a hobby grade Snowmobile if a manufacturer made one. But this is the next best thing! Needs a driver figure to add realism...but none-the-less...very cool. I like it!!!!
A traxxas VXLM speed control would be perfect....it is waterproof. |

Always wanted a snowmobile rc, but, with the unpredictability if snow here, still considering it |
That thing looks like a ton of fun.
After going snowmobiling this past weekend up in Pittsburgh, NH I now want one of these badly. I'm pretty sure a buddy of mine has that exact one in the video, maybe I can work out a deal with him. Looking forward to some pictures of yours. Nick |

I can't believe the New Bright tracks don't rip. These sleds can really handle some power! |
Quote:
i think as long as your keeping track speed reasonable and useing them in the cold so the bushings dont over heat they should last |
I need to get some pics up, my sled is 90% complete. I've got lights, and I'm having a buddy airbrush the hood for me!

updates
I need to send a sidewinder to castle for repair, buy a castle 4600 4 pole, and get my hood back from airbrushing and she'll be done!

Very clever kit Mr. H, looking forward to seeing some video of it's completion and kicking up some powder !

Nice one Harold! I feel like I'm missing out not living in an area that snows:sleep:

That is really sweet Harold. I bet you are anxious to get it running.
I will tell ya I cannot wait for the cold weather to get here and some nice frozen mornings. This heat is for the lizards man, it sucks. My boy is miserable out in the heat in his wheelchair. No way to get cooled off. I can't wait to see the hood when it comes back! :yipi: |
Quote:
Thanks! Yeah, extreme temps and wheelchairs don't mix. I got my 4600kv 4 poler!:yipi: Just gotta send in my sidewinder and get my hood back. Those artsy types sure do take their sweet time:whistle: |
The hood

I'm sure you enjoy looking at that beautiful paint work as much as the top of Hippy's head.
The Hood looks fantastic Harold, I'm looking forward to seeing it 100% together. . |
