Coolbeans.

Great news. Does CLL mean Castle link on iPod? But not on PC yet?

No, it means the protocol is supported -- but today, the only device that will use it for data is the Traxxas radio supplied with the XO-1.

Thanx!

Eeek, well, sorry -- USB on the Mamba Max can't really be supported -- sorry -- the hardware in the USB chip cant be updated.

We got a little burned by being an early-adopter on the hardware...

So don't expect the on-board USB to be updated. Again, sorry!

anunaki 02.22.2012 07:38 PM

Whats the diffrence between this and the last one do I need this update I only straight line and drag race

no big, I probably won't update till i get a MMM or MM pro. By then my MM will probably be retired to spare status

Bazzokajoe 02.23.2012 05:51 AM

the link still takes me to the download of version 3.41.1?

bruce750i 02.23.2012 11:13 AM

Refresh the page Bazzokajoe. Mine did the same thing.

outlaw 02.23.2012 11:38 AM

Just downloaded it and hocked my MMM up to the new Software
Big suprise there

My MMM does have an adjustable BEC now

Is this part of the new Software or is my MMM just fancy ?

bruce750i 02.23.2012 12:28 PM

^That's nice! The Extreme does not have the adj bec feature along with the two minute inactive beep option. WTF! I need my 2 minute beep option!

My (Traxxas) Mamba Extreme default settings were.

3.2 lvc,5.0 TC,4.0 arming time,low start power,10 degrees of timing,0 drag,50% reverse.

Yea, mine has the same thing

BTW, Bruce, why didn't you just press the Print Screen button instead of using a camera? lol

ducati777 02.23.2012 01:46 PM

Ok, so whats it take to adjust these settings through the TQi via CLL, are we STILL waiting on that feature?

Seems like Castle has done their part, should I go be dicky on the Traxxas site?

bruce750i 02.23.2012 01:53 PM

Lol agreed, I haven't acquired that skill set yet. Would it still need to go through a photo hosting site? I am on two different cpus today but that's no excuse.

Ducati777, I'll guess that "USB live mode" will offer more features like that in the future.

FLoJo 02.23.2012 01:58 PM

for the XO do still needthe link live card or can it just hookup to usb somhow . even though havnt even checked it out yet

bruce750i 02.23.2012 02:07 PM

castle-link or the field program card to a usb will get you hooked up.

I'm not 100%, but I think you' gotta link up through the ESC lead like any other castle setup.

Meaning you either need the field card, or the lil USB driver.

But in theory we should be able to see all the settings on the iphone/TQi, that just hasn't happened yet....

Can some one please elaborate?

bruce750i 02.23.2012 11:49 PM

Someone said his older version of the MMM (may of) gained the option to set the BEC output voltage. It's mostly for the XO-1 esc to castle link up.(Traxxas-link?)

hemiblas 02.29.2012 11:16 PM

Quick question for the firmware updates on the ice controllers(or maybe even mamba controllers). Have you guys every considered programming in a dual stage Cutoff? This could be a life saver for the airplane guys. If could could program in 3.5V for the intial cutoff and then 3.0 for a second cutoff, this could let us know the battery is low and give us enough power to bring our planes back for a landing which could help to keep them in one piece. Could work for the trucks too to give them enough power to bring them back to the person controlling them. I dont think anyone has anything like this and I think it would be a great selling tool.

outlaw 03.01.2012 03:09 AM

@ Bruce
my MMM does have an ajustable BEC now
But i would think it is an MMM V5 since I just bought the MMM

I have some more MMM's and will check if the new Firmware does the same magic.

I love the Idea of the dual stage cuttoff !!!
This would be a gamechanger for our 12 hour SC Truck race.
Having a notifier wenn the batterie gets empty will be a major help to win the race

ducati777 03.01.2012 12:36 PM

12 hour race??? Sounds crazy enough to be a lot of fun.

So I'm still grumpy over this issue. Castle updated their link, so at least now I can program the XO.... however all the talk about Link Live got me really excited, and its still just a dream.

We know it exists... but we can't use it...

Byte 03.01.2012 03:18 PM

Is it possible to view saved Logged data without connecting the ESC? I saved my logged data from my 160HV but can't view it without connecting my ESC. Is it me or isn't this option supported?

ducati777 03.01.2012 06:09 PM

I don't think so.

Where would you view it if you weren't connected to something with a screen?

Byte 03.01.2012 06:17 PM

I think you misunderstood me. I saved an old datalog from my ESC on my pc. But if I want to view this one, it can only be done by connecting the ESC.

With Eagletree you didn't need to connect the ESC, I could view my saved logs whenever I wanted.

ducati777 03.01.2012 06:20 PM

Oh, well.... I don't have a data logging ESC, I've only gathered information from reading forums... but I think what I'm about to say is accurate.

Have you tried opening the CastleLink Graph Viewer? Under the file menu it says "load data", which brings up a file explorer... I think if you direct it to open your saved log you should see the graph.

I apologize in advance if thats not accurate.

Byte 03.02.2012 07:20 PM

Hey! You're right! :) Hmm, strange... I was searching for something like this before but couldn't find it. But that was on my Vista laptop, maybe that's the problem? On Windows 7 I find it directly.

Anyway: thank you! I knew Castle thought about that, it would be stupid to connect the ESC everytime to view an saved datalog. My fault, sorry!

Pdelcast 03.04.2012 04:48 PM

Hey guys --

For the MMM adjustable BEC -- the hardware for adjustable BEC has been in the V5 hardware from the beginning, but we just now added the capability to change the program settings in the Castle Link app.

V4 and earlier hardware doesn't have the ability to change the BEC voltage, and will not show as an option.

Thanx!

Patrick

outlaw 03.04.2012 04:53 PM

thx Patrick for the update

Great to know i have the new V5 MMM

Interesting I say. I got my MMM two years ago (in an brushless emaxx).
I was pretty sure i had V3 but CL does show this option. When was the V5 released?

You sure it's two years old??

Hmmmm -- well, then lemme check.

I thought we release V5 about a year ago, maybe it was longer!

Or maybe there's a bug in the software.... does it actually change the output voltage of the BEC on your ESC??

Thanx!

Pdelcast 03.05.2012 05:16 PM

OK --

I had to run down some ECO history.

It was actually V4 that had the hardware change for the adjustable BEC.

And yes, if you have adjustable BEC it will show up -- otherwise there isn't any option to change the BEC voltage.

/whew

I was thinking there might be an issue where it showed the BEC as adjustable, but didn't actually do anything.

We started building V4 about 30 months ago, and V5 about a year ago.

RC toy 03.05.2012 05:19 PM

:lol::lol::lol::lol: I forgot i changed my MMM about 6 months ago
I accidentally did some -20 C "waterproof testing".
Thrust me, jumping onto a frozen lake, braking through the ice and having the water freeze before you bring your car home is no good for your ESC

So if both, V4 and V5 have hardware for BEC voltage changing how can i know which Version i have?

Sorry for messing things up...

Ah, you can't tell between V4 and V5, not from the outside. Sorry!

RC toy 03.05.2012 05:33 PM

What about the Transistors? You have mentioned that MMExtreme (traxxas) has better/newer trans and new MMM has the same ones.
Does the V4 have those or its just the V5?

Well, the V5 can have either / or -- either the new transistors or the older ones. Depends on when it was made.

RC toy 03.05.2012 05:43 PM

OK, thank you, Patric.

I guess I will go with a CC bec anyway because of five servos I'm planing to run.
CC link still does not work with the red wire cut off, does it?
