Nice buy. Did it come with a body?
|
OMG jayjay! What's up man!!! I'm currently selling the LST I built out of all that carbon fiber LST stuff you hooked me up with! http://www.ebay.com/itm/110849163444...#ht_500wt_1156
Give the Neus a charge. They work or they don't:yes: |
What's up JayJay! They make these cool little cell checkers/alarms now. Try it on your old lipos. They won't fit hyperions style taps though.
|
Harold that thing looks sick ! That pipe & k&N finished it off sweet, kind of a sin to be nitro but thats bad ass and durable, some nitro dude is going to be stoked.
Arkt1k yeah it comes with a proline protoform dp8 not the sweetest looking realistic body but tough, good for bashing and racing and then get a cool realistic kyosho gt1 for the shelf! Bruce grabbed a pair, try them on the emaxx and see if they scream thanks |
jayjay. where do you run that thing? Im in IL too and I just bought one of those DM1 Spec Es also. Mine just got delivered a couple days ago. Good deal. I couldnt resist. Im just throwing an old motor, esc and lipos from one of my old racing buggies in it to get it going.
|
Where in IL ? Arlington is it ? I'm in Rolling Meadows south side of the Arlington Race track by rhowling and kirchoff, Im going to throw some of my old stuff in it too. A MMM and I think I have a 1515 1.5d somewhere in the garage id run, if not a 1y. I'm going to need a fast digital servo though, all mine are jr z9100ts for monster trucks, not fast enough I don't think. I'm going to drive it in parking lots and wherever I find some good asphalt, alone and with my neighbor until I get it dialed in. After I get this thing hanging, i'll make some trips to Joliet (Leisure Hours Raceway) to hit the onroad track (i'll bring the 8T and drive the offroad too) If you're close we should hook up and bash/race sometime !

found the 1.5d and 4 brand new belted ofna tires buried in the garage. Can you be considered a hoarder if you end up using the stuff ? |

yep 43/13. That motor is perfect for a speed run car! 6s and a big pinion and you will fly! Fly like a birdy....:intello:

I just ordered a DM-1 also. Thanks JayJay for the heads up. |
Cool !! Should be some fun, I also ordered # OFN40720 OFNA Side Bumper Set, good for putting nitros into the wall
|
Jayjay
Hey Jayjay nice to see you back in the game. Its not dead here everyone has just been staying warm in doors over the winter. I am sure that everyone checks in from time to time. Good luck on that ebay sale Harold.

I am planning to take mine out the the Kohl's parking lot on Friday nights in Elmhurst. There are a bunch of guys out there that run parking lot ovals and another group that sets up drag races. The lot usually fills up with toy cars around the time the stores close and shoppers go home. You should bring it out. |
Cool thanks for the heads up, LMK about any local runnings !

I taped my kit tires now they are near impossible to stretch on the wheel over the two of pieces foam. I'm about to take the belting out and let them balloon. Any belted tire mounting tips?
|
man up:intello:
|
Man up? But I just got my nails done and my hand lotion keeps drying out.
|
lol @ you 2 I didn't use those tires and wheels, I like the wheel but I saw threads of people getting irate putting them together, and whats with those foams. They stink like ass ! I put them in the garage in a ziplock bag. I bought a set of sweep belted treaded tires and a set of ipanema slicks.

http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/j...283/rcM005.jpg been playing with it a bit and of course now its cold, 50 shore tires sure are fun when its cold, always wanted a drift car LOL only deal was it has bushings for steering 4 6x10x3 bearings good to go. Savox 1258tg is a loud ass servo. Traded my neighbor (a tekno kit for 8T) for the car posted below and a novak glitch buster thingy, it quieted up the servo a good 70%. Adjusting epa another 40% so by my math it should be quiet + 10% but its not lol Got a zippy 4s 45c lipo for 50 bucks and its faster than my neuenergy 5s they still truck the emaxx around though Bandit for front yard fun http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/j...283/rcM006.jpg |
I have my ch1 end points at 50% to avoid the u-joints binding at full lock.
A fellow Ofna fiend I know mounted a Xo-1 wing up nicely, if your not looking for a ton of DF. Your painting skillz are off the hook! How do you get that solid black color look? |
yeah Bruce I have my epa at 60% (airtronics mx3fhss) never messed with that trim really with the monster trucks but this car will turn until it messes it up. I just rattle can sprayed it with pactra black metallic. I was going to do the roof scoop and side scoops with yellow. I went to hobby town by me for the black metallic and after paying $7 each for 2 cans thought I'd use an old yellow I had, it was clogged so I stuck a pin in the nozzle and got some in my eye and gave up with the yellow/ The Bandit was painted by a pro at Venture Hobbies in Illinois. Its Friday wonder of the gang will be at Kohls parking lot tonight. May be time to bang it up
|
It turned out good anyways. Darn yellow! I just have a few things masked off right now on my body. I need to make sometime this weekend to mess it up. Did you figure out how to mount the side bumpers yet? Was anybody at Khols last night?
|
Since you posted some pictures I thought I would too. I acually found a really good deal on a hobbywing motor and esc so I grabbed it and put it in this thing. Haven't run it yet but it's ready to go. Maybe next Friday I'll grad out to the kohls parking lot with it.

One thing about this kit is the stock motor mount sucks IMO. I think I'm gonna pick up the RCM mount for this thing.
|
Bruce no I've held the side mounts to the car for a good couple hours (no I really don't have anything better to do) My wife's cool and lets me use the coffee table as a RC workshop/laptop station for a few days a week. I have a 1/5th it took me a year to put the side mounts on. Looks like we have to belt sand them down about 1/2 thickness an drill a few holes. Didn't go to Kohls it's too cold for fun, sat in PJs. Jhautz thats almost what I had really wanted for the body but the top roof some metallic blue. Pay you to paint my next one. Bill at IGT hunted me down one of those silver ofna nitro porshe bodies. Always wanted one. Well always wanted a real porsche but this may be more fun
|
Are these standard 1/8th buggy wheelbase? if so it looks like I bought the wrong body. I just did a Mclarren F1 body for mine but its not as scale as these look. Mine doesn't drop at all between the rear arches and the duck tail, and it has a bulge in the bonnet to clear the front shock tower, but the carbon one I made comes nowhere near it so is unnecessary.

I am running 18/46 I had to dremel a bit off the fins of the gear holder, but the mount is crap. I was looking at Mikes too that will fit the 1/8th ? That 1/7th out there makes buying stuff for this a bit of a pain NativePaul, Yeah these are standard 1/8th for ofna, kyosho gt1 etc, Kyosho came out with the GT2 which is a bit longer. Ive used a heat gun to soften the body and tuck the sides in a bit on 1/5th scale |
Quote:
The older 1/7 dm-1 is totally compatable with the newer spec length car. Only difference is chassis length is longer on the old one (longere rear center dog bone) and the rear shocks are the lay down style like the front shocks instead of the stand up rear on the newer spec 1/8 version. I actually have both cars. I converted the original longer dm1 years ago and still have it and I just got this car because it was a good deal and I just wanted something new. |
I was wrong sorry running 18/47, OFN35247, I'm using the Stock single speed gear mount I just had to shave maybe .5mm off the top of 3 prongs with a dremel red sander barrel. I could fit a 20 pinion in there but it was pretty snug and didn't have a spare 19. Thanks for the info on the 1/7th. If the wife quits buying new seasonal shoes and dresses I'd like to get Mikes mount and his single speed 8mm to use the revo spurs
|
I like that orange and black together Jhautz. Here's how mine came out. I wish I blacked out my fog lights like yours. Video fly-by I'm still contemplating adding the stickers or not.

Bruce- nice paint job!! Car looks great!
|
Thanks Nitrostarter! I was pulling my hair out a couple of times painting it yesterday.
|
Proud
Now thats a toy anyone of us would be proud to own. Nice job. I like the ground effects as well. Must look pretty cool at night. Now I want one of those.
|
That sure is slick Bruce ! You guys make me wish I spent more time on mine, my Porsche body came in after a month of waiting and now I have guests in from out of town for a week then the next day off to Houston for another 5 days. I wonder how I could get put on house arrest without a fine or hurting anyone
|
Thanks again guys, I'm proud of it.
After a pack and a half I had the cc2200 up to 145f the chassis felt like it was soaking it in good. She ran smooth and tracked great. Saturday, I was out on a LED test run in the dark. I heard some scraping and pulled her over. I walked the hundred feet or so over to see her missing a front wheel. About that time I hear the echoing sound of my wheel hitting a curb off in the distance. I circled that lot twice after daylight in my truck and then came back another time and finally found it. I'm still looking for the wheel nut. |
