CEN GST-E check it out

factory center diff, could be the baddest of the bunch. Certainly up near on the biggest of the 1/8 to 1/10 batch of brushless trucks

Looks nice. In looking at the layout, my only gripe is motor choice would be limited. For a truck of that size a 1520 CC motor or a 1717 would be perfect....doubtful if either would fit. Wonder what the weight is...15lbs+ or so maybe?

I have always like this particular truck for its sheer size...a true Monster truck....great basher for say sand pits due to its size and width. I don't know that much about them or heard much so I never took the leap to buy one.

rcs2022 09.21.2012 12:47 PM

The Diff looks beefy and strong, how would it evaluate net to savage bullet proof diff. Never owned a CEN but from the forums their parts are beefy, lot of people are trying to use their CVD's and Diffs.

The tires look good also, low profile also. Any one tried them I am seriously considering them. gonna research / search for dimensions and weight, any one have any idea?

Is it just me or is an 80 amp esc a little light? I think 150 amp is more in order.

Good catch on the specs. I personally would probably run the MMMXL just to have no worries due to the weight of the truck. I can't find weight listed on the sites I checked but, as I said above, it probably weighs 15+lbs .

In looking at this further, as I stated above, motor choice is limited with factory layout. That would be the first thing i'd change....or Mike would anyway. :) I personally hate the 8 shock setup. A set of Losi muggy shocks would be perfect but, I also doubt they would fit.

Sorry, just stating the obvious here.

It's nice to see a company that looks at how the customers use there trucks and make changes. I have gone brushless with my genesis as well as others, but the specs do look underwhelming.

IrishChamp 09.28.2012 11:08 AM

The standard gst 7.7 is about 17lbs I believe, I'd think this weighs about the same.
I put losi shocks on my nemesis brushless xl conversion, so far I really like them. They required custom mounts.

Thanks...@ 17lbs that 80A esc must be crying! Pics of your shock setup would be sweet if you can.

Found your thread on your build...looks really great!

IrishChamp 09.28.2012 06:22 PM

Here's a few more. I've had very little time to take it out so I can't really say how their holding up. I can say that it's terrifying to drive lol.
Btw, I have raven dual rate springs on the shocks.

Of all the true monster trucks I have seen, What you did is exactly what I have been looking to do. I really like the 1/5 scales but, cant afford one. Your truck is a great compromise.

IrishChamp 09.30.2012 12:55 AM

Thanks :)

i dont know why everybody is offering these larger truck with a 4s motor i think they did it in the new hpi 1/5 scale, the gst should have a leo 4082 1500 for 6s same for the hpi i think

IrishChamp 09.30.2012 11:12 AM

Definately!

Finally!, this would have save so much work. But, I prefer to use mechanical braking.

Robl45 12.23.2012 11:48 AM

its out, but anything i read on cen says the stuff breaks so I figure i'll pass on it. thunder tiger doesn't seem to break so I'm looking into that now.

wellby 12.23.2012 02:04 PM

I have been running Cen trucks for a couple of years and haven't had and breakage issues worse than any other company. Don't always believe what you read online. If you hit stuff with a 15 pound truck they will all brake.

agreed, still multiple threads about it not being great while everyone says the mt4 thundertiger is quite durable.

other thing I am not crazy about with the CEN is the electronics don't seem up to par. the steering servo seems underpowered for the big cen wheels and the esc is 80 amps I believe and only goes to 4s. 4s is going to use a lot of amps. If I could run 6s, then 80 amps would probably be fine. Plus I run 6s in my lst2 and 5S would probably be best, but this truck is as big or bigger.

MT4 seems like a stand up truck, I wouldn't mind having one. But it's far from unbreakable. I've had my savage through worse than he's putting the mt4 through. Heck, even jang bashed the savage harder in his review.

I didn't see the review. I just know from reading many threads that aside from hinge pins, it doesn't seem to break much. Don't like that its a truggy with big wheels though. I'm waiting for someone to actually buy one of these new cen trucks to make a decision as my son will outgrow his mini summit rather soon and the cen tires are the best tires i've seen on a monster truck. Price is right too.

Robl45 01.09.2013 12:00 AM

has anyone seen one of these cen gst-e or seen a review on it? I keep checking around and all I see are old notices talking about it coming out.

2FastSS4U 05.15.2013 09:17 AM

A bit of an old thread but thought I might bump it a little. I'm in the process of trying to buy a new RC to get back into the hobby and thought this truck might be a good option. I'm also kicking around the idea of the Thunder Tiger mentioned earlier in the thread since they're about the same price.

Cheers,
Steven

I've been looking as I'll have to get my son something soon and maybe myself. The Cen is awesome in that it has huge tires and they are really nice tires. The problem is they are really expensive tires too. You also can't really get parts anywhere except from CEN. Amain is selling it too so maybe there.

The thundertiger has same issues too, its really only from tower hobbies and ebay you can get parts just like with CEN.

Thundertiger you can run 6s, Cen you need to change ESC to do that, but with hobbyking selling 4s packs for 23 bucks, 4s is probably better way to go at the moment.

I haven't seen any reviews for the CEN truck, been waiting and watching but nothing. Thundertiger gets decent reviews but does need a few upgrades to make it nice. The one downside to the thundertiger is it doesn't really look like a monster truck.
