More bl savage help needed.
 

O.K. I just received my 9920, 8XL, and motor mount today. I installed the mount, bolted the motor on, now I wasnt expecting confusion on the woiring, but I am. The controller has 6 wires going out, do I just hook up 3, or do I splice them together and then hook up to the motor? Also, I'm in need of ordering all my electrical connectors, can someone reccomend a particular kind, and possibly a link to them. Also I still need to order batteries and a charger. If you were on say a $250 budget, what would you go w/?? I was thinking just some dual 9 pack ni cads and a charger for now. Any help really appreciated. I really wanna get this done, but dont wanna screw it up. I was reading and lokikng at pics here of others, but I cant really see what others have done w/ these spare 3 wires. Thanks!!

If you noticed, there are 3 sets of 2 or 2 wires per phase. The 2 per phase go to one motor wire. As for chargers, do you plan on going to lipo in the future? I would personally go for a charger that can charge lipos. And as for batteries, I would personally go for some IB4200's. There great batteries and perform awesome. I would use Deans connectors on the batteries and 5.5mm connectors on the motor and esc.

Thanks, I will order the connectors you mentioned. Also will order the batteries you suggested. I agree about buying into the future w/ a charger like that, any partricular one you reccomend? Also, let me make sure I have this right. I am joining the 6 wires into 3, meanining coupling each with its counterpart, then connecting to the motor? Like this....

I think you got the idea timn. Just make sure to keep the two wires together that come out the esc together. I personally like the power pole for batteries and esc. I can hook them up in smaller packs in series to run more cells in series. that is just my perference.

As for a charger, I think the Hyperion EOS7I is a great charger. It can charge 1-25 Nimh cells and 1-5S LiPo and it's only about $120.

Now ya have me wondering what I was sent. My has 6 wires coming out the one side, then 2 positive wires, and 2 negative wires, and then 1 radio wire coming out the other end. Can anyone guess what it is?

Its a 9920. Some have 4 capacitors, some 2, some have 2 wire per phase, some 1. THe sure fire way to tell is how many boards it has. If one, its a 7020, if 2, its a 9920, if 3, its a 12020, ect.

Some 9920's came with 2 wires per phase. There is no particular reason for it. if you look at the assembly of the controller, you could see that it would be easier to use two wires, instead of one. (if you have a controller with 1 wire per phase, the wire splits up at the two boards that are in the controller)

I personally like the 2 wires per phase because of this.

I find that intresting. To produce the same model ESC but varients of how many wires/capacitors it has, doesn't sound economical, I wonder if there is a reason for why they varie like this?

I have always found this weird. If one board and handle 70 amps why can't 2 handle 140.

Hmmm. Thanks for the help. My new problem is, I'm tryting to find some connector to couple these 2 wires together, then connect to the motor wire. So in essence I need some sort of 5mm "Y" connector of some sort, going from 2-1 so I can plug to the motor.

No, they should be tinned together correct? There supposed to be, if not, just twist the 2 wires together and then tin them together and solder the both into the one connector.

No, they are all just loose, seperate strands. I'm just wondering if I just twist them together, if they'll be to fat to fit in the end of the connector prior to soldering. I'll try it though.
