R/C long jump world record attempt

Just saw this a few days ago, actually - pretty impressive fail really. :-)

_paralyzed_ 06.09.2015 12:36 PM

It really was! I can't believe they hit that skinny take off ramp, and I can't believe they think they have enough consistency to hit a landing ramp.

I hope they hit their goal.

Serum 06.10.2015 05:50 AM

Impressive they hit that 2nd ramp.

Chipwood is wortless, perhaps plywood would have survived the hit and it would be a successful jump instead of an attempt

lincpimp 06.13.2015 08:11 PM

If they get better they could try jumping something really impressive like Harold's playgirl collection. He has all of them from the seventies onward but Hippie told me most of the pages are stuck together.

Serum 06.14.2015 01:35 AM

Sticky pages; That's what you get from spilling Coca cola and cotton candy, right? If the unthinkable happens and Harolds collection is cleared they could raise the bar and jump the manuscript 'One day of female logics'

RC-Monster Mike 06.15.2015 09:35 AM

Let's not get carried away, Rene - we all know that is an impossible jump!

Dafni 06.16.2015 04:11 AM

Pretty impressive attempt! Just a few inches short, looked like it would have been a nice landing too. Would love to see them make it.

Quite ballsy ramp setup, that's for sure.

Serum 06.16.2015 04:37 AM

Heya Daf! Ol' labtech. Goldplated any insects recently? Ballsy ramp indeed! Nice to see you again. How are you? Still active in RC?

Dafni 06.16.2015 08:18 AM

cheers Rene, I'm fine, hope the same goes for you, and any other RC-M member from back in the days.

No, I was never really into all that insect stuff, we do that just to show off the electron microscope to outsiders. But yeah, I'm still at the same place, same job.

It's been a while since I bought any new RC stuff, but I am still messing with the old gear from time to time, my trucks and buggies from 2007, all still going strong. Remember Gusti and his squad of hopped-up maxxes that I did for him?? I bought all that stuff back from him at a bargain price. That motivated me to go out and bash again.

all the best

Daf

Serum 06.16.2015 08:45 AM

Good to hear you are doing well.

Yeh! I think I remember Gusti's rides. That one with the cool body you've painted, cut so the front shocks where visible, right? Lots of RPM stuff if memory serves right.

Bought a truggy (absima) for dirt cheap with a 6s capable sensored setup, with 2x2s packs whole setup is absima. Got a buggy of that same type, for parts compatibility. Most recent purchase is a summit. I like the bashing, go to the same place we've been to with Mark. (out in the sticks) 4s gives plenty enough power for serious speeds. The revo is tougher now too with the steel collar uprights.. Arh well. A lot has changed :)
Build/converted a few trucks for two friends recently.
We now have two sons btw! Lovely little chaps.

lincpimp 06.16.2015 09:44 AM

Wow this may be the most epic thread in RCM history, we have the owner, admin and og mod plus a great rc fail and some Harold based insults.

As far as the female logics manuscript goes, I heard that Stephen Hawkin was going to write the foreword, so at least some part of the book could make sense...

We're missing BrianG, is he still around at all?

It is very cool to see all these names.

Cheers everyone!

Arct1k 06.16.2015 10:17 PM

Arct1k 06.16.2015 10:22 PM

But we are missing Neil to be complete

crazyjr 06.17.2015 12:59 PM

I'm still around to, just not done much RC wise lately

ruudxd 06.17.2015 01:56 PM

I feel like that guy that does not fit into the class, and doesn't know anybody, and nobody wants to know him ;)

Serum 06.17.2015 02:14 PM

Crazyjr. Wasn't your fathers handle on some ancient BBS 'crazy', and you called yourself crazyjr? You are on the boards for a long time. i now feel sorry for leaving you out of that list above.

@ruudxd; No need to feel left out. You are from Zwolle too, right? I discovered Quartel was out of business last week.. (it's been closed for about a year now).. Too bad. Great guy.

I am just glad to see some fresh faces here! Keep posting info pics and questions. It would be great to see the board jumping again, we just need some more custom makers and rc addicts to keep the topics fresh and entertaining. I do what I can but I am just one man!!!

Yup, he was Crazy Larry. I took Crazyjr, because i doubt i can live up to his legend. I was also same name and a Jr anyways

ruudxd 06.18.2015 12:14 PM

@ Serum : Thanks, Yes I am from Zwolle to!
Quartel shut down about a year ago, they could not run the place for the money thet got out of it.
But the guy is starting a new shop at the same spot if I am correct, should be open this summer I believe!

@ lincpimp : Thanks, I will do my best, but as always, money is a bit short, so I can not buy so much materials and tools.
I am thinking of making a bigger Muggy, but that is just a thing in my thoughts now..

Dafni 06.19.2015 03:56 AM

So is this the big RC-M reunion that I was waiting for??

It would be cool to see the place taking off again.

If there is to be a reunion, I will bring the sarcasm and off color remarks!

Harold can bring the dudes!

Jerry can bring the "old codger" wisdom.

Not sure what Hippie can provide, but I am sure it will be to Harold's liking (nudge nudge, wink wink, say no more!)

Where is Rawbuns? Have not seen him for a while. Most likely living it up at a frat house. Probably still wear the back half of a house costume from last weekend.

lincpimp 06.22.2015 10:24 AM

Going well. I just love the smell of those old playgirls. (and taste?)

You could have just put "Harold loves the dudes". They don't necessarily need a mound of pubes.

Good to know, I will keep that in mind. Not a mental pic of you with dudes, don't need that. Just the fact you are "equal opportunity"...

jhautz 08.15.2015 03:22 AM

Geez. All the old timers chiming in on this thread. Guess I'm a couple months late.

Just started lurking again myself. I saw Mikes new Maxx chassis and it inspired me to build a new Maxx to bash with my nephew.

Good to see the old names.

Daff. I still have the revo lid you painted for me. Still haven't been able to bring myself to put body post holes in the work of art.

See.. I knew I forgot an important name. JHautz.. Good to see you are getting somewhat back in this hobby!

I recently found something cool in rc land. Fpv mini quad racing, like podracing.. Anybody here into fpv quads? Relative cheap and durable stuff.

jhautz 08.15.2015 03:49 AM

Hey Rene. I never left the hobby. Been spending most of my rc time racing 1/8 electric and not so much bashing. The rc collection is still pretty out of control. More vehicles than I can really run.

Yes! I have quads too. Fun stuff, but the fpv is hard to do. I need to look at the thing whike it's flying or I have no idea what it's doing. The small lag I seem to get from the fpv camera to the screen really messes me up when trying to fly fpv.

just googled that serum, no way i could do that. Have enough trouble with out and across, much less up and down and first person on top of that. Would be fun to watch though
