1950 what turn?

whats up guys? my friend drove my g2r and now he wants one! i don't want him to have the exact truck as me, so i figured i'd get everyones opinion on the 1950 he should get. i have a 1950/8, bk 12020, 6s lipo. he wants a bigger motor than mine, but i told him thats not really smart. i figured we'd just go up or down in turns and voltage and maybe a different esc. thanks, tally.

coolhandcountry 06.12.2006 05:47 PM

What truck is this going on tally?

tallyram 06.12.2006 05:58 PM

he wants a g2r like mine. the all aluminum version.

Sylvester 06.12.2006 07:59 PM

How many cells? We need all the info, my friend!

coolhandcountry 06.12.2006 08:00 PM

I am not sure if i would go with a higher voltage system. I think you are on the verge of blowing diffs out on will. 1950 7 on 4s lipo go with a quark 125 esc

tallyram 06.12.2006 08:08 PM

if this guy's truck isn't as fast as mine he'll be very disappointed. i'm running 6s lipo on a 1950/8. he wants the same power or more with a different lmt and batts.

Sylvester 06.12.2006 08:11 PM

If he wants speed and power he should go with 1950 10t on 8s lipo, or even a 2250! But thats just nuts for a revo.

tallyram 06.12.2006 08:16 PM

1950/10 on 6-8s lipo is what i was thinking also. on 8s, what kind of efficiency would he be getting, heat?

Sylvester 06.12.2006 08:18 PM

Pretty darn good, he would just have to play with the gearing, also id reccomend a quark 125B.

tallyram 06.12.2006 08:22 PM

i thought the quark is rated at a max of 18 nimh(21.6v). 8s will be 29.6v?

Sylvester 06.12.2006 08:23 PM

Whoops, almost got burned on that one! ;) A MGM Would be in order, or a BK, but i would go for a MGM, ive heard nothing but great things.

coolhandcountry 06.12.2006 08:27 PM

!950 10t on 8s lipo would be awesome. He should have more power than you tally but longer runtime as well. I don't know if the diffs are going to stand it.

Sylvester 06.12.2006 08:29 PM

Diffs might last for quarter of the pack, but thats taking it easy!

tallyram 06.12.2006 08:31 PM

yeah, i just start getting excited talking about power. i don't know how to tell him. i wanted to do a savage 25 for him with more power. he likes the look of the revo though.

Sylvester 06.12.2006 08:33 PM

Arent you doing a savage for a basher though? Your freind is a little biter:)

tallyram 06.12.2006 08:34 PM

with a lowerr turn motor, what would be about the same as mine? 1950/7 on 5s?

tallyram 06.12.2006 08:36 PM

thats the problem. he was going to race his and i would race my g2r. i would only bash my savage. kinda sucks! i want to help him out.

Sylvester 06.12.2006 08:37 PM

A revo with a 1950 9T hi-amp, MGM controller, and 5s lipo would be pretty quick!

tallyram 06.12.2006 08:41 PM

would that be to much power for the diffs?

Sylvester 06.12.2006 08:42 PM

Just enough to keep them in there for a bit. Remember, you have 6s lipo, with 5s its gonna put less stress on the diffs so he should be fine.

tallyram 06.12.2006 08:46 PM

when they go, he'll probably bring it to me for repair.

i've got a ft t4 that i don't use any more. what do you think i should do with it? swap out the gtb 5.5 for a 1920 or sell it for funds going into the savage?

Sylvester 06.12.2006 08:48 PM

Sell it for funds, when you have money, and put it into a conversion its a great feeling, and if your freind ever askes for repairs, than you can charge him! 50$ per 5 min:)

tallyram 06.12.2006 08:50 PM

nice! i'll have to remember that! monsters are so much more fun than 1/10 2wd.

Sylvester 06.12.2006 08:51 PM

Yea! The smaller toys just dont seem the best, atleast for me since they cant go over too much ;)

tallyram 06.12.2006 08:52 PM

they are fun to launch as far as possible though, lol.

Sylvester 06.12.2006 08:55 PM

Yea, i love seeing little bugs flying in the air! :) But the big trucks launch pretty far, too!

tallyram 06.12.2006 08:57 PM

indeed! i can't believe the torque these motors have. so much fun to drive. to bad theres a tropical storm in the gulf! won't be able to run for 2 or 3 days.

Sylvester 06.12.2006 08:59 PM

That stinks, hope no one gets hurt!

tallyram 06.12.2006 09:21 PM

i'll be alright. maybe i'll get to crank up my new generator!

thats not fair. i'm going to build my friends g2r for free. i get to run it first, though. oops!

Sylvester 06.12.2006 09:29 PM

Building a revo for him? I dont think im liking the sounds of your friend

-Doesnt wanna get his hands dirty ;)
-Doesnt have too much knowledge on this truck
-Sounds like he has a bit of money (this isnt a cheap truck, $$ wise!)
You shouldnt just build the whole truck, let him build it and take him through everything so he can get to know the truck:)

tallyram 06.12.2006 09:35 PM

i was just kidding. if i kept my mouth shut he would let me just build it for him. i'm going to "help" him build it. i'll show him how to do it and then let him start. he's like me, impulsive! gotta have it now. monster mike won't mind.

Sylvester 06.12.2006 09:37 PM

Hehe:)

tallyram 06.12.2006 09:44 PM

i just spoke with coolhand, i think i'll get my friend my exact setup, maybe the 7t on 5s. decisions?????

squeeforever 06.12.2006 10:26 PM

It really depends on what kinda speed vs. runtime he wants. How long are yalls races?

tallyram 06.12.2006 10:44 PM

15-20 min. he loves my setup. i just don't want him to have exactly the same setup as mine. at the same time i would feel guilty if i sacrificed runtime or speed vs. my setup.

squeeforever 06.12.2006 11:13 PM

I think a 7T on 4S would be a nice, light combo. Runtime however, depends on what the mah of the packs are though.
