GA Skid with FLM E-Maxx chassis?

Does anyone know if the "Titanium SuperMaxx Center Skid Plate" from Great Assembly will fit the FLM extended chassis for the e-maxx?

RC-Monster Mike 06.30.2006 11:19 AM

Any skid that fits the stock emaxx center skid area should fit the FLM chassis, including GA. :)

neweuser 06.30.2006 02:27 PM

Yes they fit. As Mike said. I have the GA skids, and used to have two types of FLM chassis, the extended and the reg. Now the gorilla, they work with all.

dadgummit 06.30.2006 04:31 PM

Thanks for the quick replies!! It looks like any of the small center skid plates will fit but I was wondering about the 3/4 style plates like the RPM version that I have on the truck right now. If I put that skid plate on the extended chassis I would think that the part that angles down along the chassis braces towards the rear skid plate will just hang down in space because the FLM chassis braces are 35 mm longer on the extended chassis.
On the GA Site it shows they make regular and the Supermax center skid plates. I was thinking that since read somewhere that FLM machines many of GA's parts it would make sense for one of the skid plates to fit the FLM chassis.

I nver used my extended FLM, i sold it(dumb idea). But, i think you're right in your thinking, it sounds right. Have you tried to measure?

dadgummit 06.30.2006 04:53 PM

I don't have the chassis yet but I am going to buy the GA skid plates soon. I figured that since I am planning to step up to the FLM in the near future (as soon as they have the battery bars available) I may as well get the center skid plate that fits it. I can use my RPM center until then.

squeeforever 06.30.2006 05:22 PM

Actually, the battery bars are available. Mike has sold a several sets. Just e-mail him.

Sorry to steal the thread, dadgummit.
Can I use the VBS titanium skids with the FLM Hybrids?
If not, what ti skids can I use then?

Procharged5.0 07.05.2006 01:25 PM

Squee,

I hate to correct you but FLM battery bars are NOT available. I spoke with Jamie at FLM a couple days ago about this. He stated that he didn't like the design (although Mike did purchase several sets) and does not plan to make any more. He may not make any period.

I have a set of the FLM "Hinged" battery hold downs coming (possibly his last set). The best alternate choice would probably be the G-Maxx battery hold-downs in carbon or aluminum. It looks like they would fit perfectly with the proper vertical spacing.

squeeforever 07.05.2006 02:09 PM

Ok. All I know was that Mike sold numberous sets...Which would lead anyone to believe that there available...

Procharged5.0 07.05.2006 02:19 PM

Understood. I thought the same thing and I was surprised when Jamie told me differently. I'd love to see FLM tweak the design a little bit more. If they did it would be arguably as nice as the UE. I would pay an extra $40 - $60 for an upgraded version.

bigabike 07.05.2006 05:09 PM

I got a set from Mike a couple of weeks ago.

captain harlock 07.05.2006 05:49 PM

How did you find them?

I emailed Mike. I think they were $25.00.

No, I mean are they good for holding down the batts?

LOL - Sorry about that.
They are better than gmaxx straps, but they are not great. I am running 7 cell packs, so the fit is nice, but there is not enough grip. I wrapped with heatless shrink on the chassis and strap and the batteries held very well.
I think I am going to use blue plasti-dip on the chassis and strap and I think they will be great.

One more thing, there is a bit of a clearance problem on the end where my esc wires for the batteries. It is not a big deal, just need to move the wire out of the way.

Hope this helps.

Procharged5.0 07.06.2006 10:35 AM

Captain,

You might consider contacting FLM for a chassis upgrade and move from your V2 (it looks like a V2 same as mine was) and get the V3 which has the battery slots much like the UE Lightning. FLM is pretty accomodating when you tell them you can't keep the batteries on the chassis.

jocktheglide 07.07.2006 02:32 AM

gotta get those battery straps from FLM through mike...I think he is on vacation this week...

captain harlock 07.08.2006 12:17 AM

Is this the 2nd or third version?

batterieslots are deeper and made wider.

Procharged5.0 07.08.2006 10:53 AM

The picture you posted is a V3 although the flats between the batteries look wider than mine which is only a couple months old. Maybe mine is a V3.1????

I posted a pic of the V2 elsewhere on this thead.

captain harlock 07.10.2006 10:18 AM

Probably a slight modification to the batteries' slots, since my batteries do not snug in the slots of my chassis well enough. Oh, boy. I think I have to file it, then.

Procharged5.0 07.10.2006 10:40 AM

Once again, I like the FLM products but the development of their products is weak in comparison to UE or G-Maxx. Of course they are like 1/3 the price so.......

captain harlock 07.10.2006 11:19 PM

Yeah, its the price that keeps them acceptable.
