What The?? I bent it already?

O.K. guys I must of had a terrible batch of metal but i'm very angry.

I took my e-maxx out for a test run and bent the g-maxx chassis as if it was a paperweight.

Check out this video and you will see it was a weak hit.

Crash Video

Is there a warranty or anything? I think it might be time to go UE or something cause this is rediculous.

Serum 03.24.2005 03:47 PM

It looks like a rather rough crash to me?

That frame isn't ment for that kind of impact, i would seriously doubt if an UE chassis would not be bent on an impact like it. (it is 'only' aluminium)

I understand your anger, but it is a solid thing you ran in to, no flex at all... The forces that come with such an impact would brake al fingers on your hand, when they were in between.

This frame is solid build, but it's not build for this kinds of impact. It has got a certain strength/weight ratio.

It doesn't look like a wrong batch of material. Gmaxx could have chosen to use titanium , but then, the price would be double or triple at least.

I think that you can buy the lowerplate only, but i am not sure on this. It would be logical.

RC-Monster Mike 03.24.2005 04:02 PM

While it didn't look like a super hard hit, there was a bit of force in the truck when it met the immovable object. The lower plate was not designed to take this kind of hit (obviously), but I can understand your frustration for sure. If it was me, I would bend it back and avoid the pole in the future. I assure you the g-maxx stuff can take a tremendous beating from most angles. Apparently you have found the weak spot. I guess most crashes don't occur between the wheels like this crash, so this area was never designed to be high stress/high impact resistant. I am sure George will see this eventually and respond as well. I feel bad for this, William. I know and can see you have a bit invested in the truck.

Rcbros 03.24.2005 05:08 PM

I'm not completely mad just kinda disapointed. I only had a few minutes in before this happened. It was super wet out side so I was sliding everywhere with the stock tires.

I went out to the garage with a hammer and visegrip and this is what I came up with

It looks better in pics then it does in person. Hopefully some fine sand paper and alittle dremel buffing will make it decent.

can you buy just the chassis plate?

RC-Monster Mike 03.24.2005 05:11 PM

Yes, you can. They are available on the g-maxx website only, though.

Rcbros 03.24.2005 05:14 PM

O.K. good to know. I'll destroy this one first lol.

RC-Monster Mike 03.24.2005 05:16 PM

:) Thats the spirit!

Serum 03.24.2005 05:30 PM

With waterproof sandpaper, you can make it look good, for sure.

I can seriously understand your feeling.. It just ain't the biggest crash that can happen.

You have got one nice ride bytheway! Looks good, what motor are you using?

Rcbros 03.24.2005 06:05 PM

Rcbros 03.24.2005 09:32 PM

Rcbros 03.24.2005 09:36 PM

I'm running the 9L With 14cells.

Rcbros 03.25.2005 12:41 AM

ouch!!!...i can only imagine the sickening sound made when it hit the metal pole...seeing as the pole is steel and firmly planted, i'm not surprised that the chassis took a ding, at least the suspension went unharmed...

Superemaxx89 03.25.2005 01:13 AM

i'd personally rather that flm suspension break over his chassis, the arms are less expensive (i think?)

Rcbros 03.25.2005 01:15 AM

The suspension has lifetime warranty lol.
I didn't even think it was hurt and till I went and checked out the damage.

Chase023 03.25.2005 02:58 AM

Great looking G-Maxx...

I also understand your anger but how did you hit that part of the chassis.. Really slipping and sliding huh!!

At least you got it bent back and got a back up!

How much does your G-Maxx weigh with everything on it?

Rcbros 03.25.2005 01:20 PM

Don't have a scale so couldn't tell ya. I'll see if I can fins something later today.

starscream 03.25.2005 08:55 PM

What kind of cells are you running?
Whats the run time with the 9L on 14 cells?

Rcbros 03.25.2005 09:27 PM

well I've yet to go through a charge without something breaking . So I couldn't tell ya. I gun 14 cells GP 3300's
Will have a video tonight

Sylvester 03.25.2005 10:43 PM

Rcbros 03.25.2005 10:45 PM
