G2R Driveshafts???

After my first test bash I noticed that the driveshafts were binding or there was to much play in the cups. The shafts had peices missing or gouges out of them. I know this is not normal?:002:

Will adding some fuel tubing or the O-ring trick solve this problem?

RC-Monster Mike 08.02.2006 10:23 AM

Yes, spacing the drive shafts with a small bit of fuel tubing will properly center the shafts inside the cups. The shafts are a little short to facilitate removing the tranny without disassembling the front or rear of the truck.

I havent had a problem with mine and i don't use fuel line

Serum 08.06.2006 04:46 AM

You better use it crazy.

a driveshaft needs to be centered or pushed to one side, depending on the design.

bluonyx 08.06.2006 11:36 PM

I used a small piece of fuel tubing on each side of the driveshaft and what a difference, no more clunking noise and the shafts aren't binding anymoe either. The motor and ESC ran cooler and I was able to get a longer run time. I ran a 14T pinion and temps never got over 110 degrees. Cutting the right length of tubing for each cup took a little time but was well worth it. Thanks guys!

can someone post a pic of the fuel tubing mod please?

Serum 08.07.2006 12:22 PM

It's quite simple;

put a piece of fuel hose inside the cup. Use large diameter fuel hose for the best result

bluonyx 08.09.2006 01:44 AM

I'll post a pic 4 u tomorrow.

fagzz 08.09.2006 01:46 AM

thank u! ;)

bluonyx 08.09.2006 10:35 AM

If you look inside the cups you can see the fuel tubing.

All thanks Blonyx ;)

The original plastic REVO driveshafs, I reckon, are much better than the supplied Gorillamaxx shafts. They work perfectly and are much less noisy - they are also considerably lighter. You will have to buy one or two extra parts to do the conversion, but well worth it!!

bluonyx 08.12.2006 06:55 PM

I figure if the gorilla's goes out on me, I have a set if the 3.3's in the toolbox. They are much lighter than these.

RC-Monster Mike 08.14.2006 11:02 AM

I am pretty sure the stock Revo shafts won't fit due to clearance issues(too large diameter), which is why the dogbones are included with the G2R kit.

BP-Revo 08.14.2006 12:20 PM

Hmm, seems like something I would need to do.

Anyone have a link to "large-diameter" fuel tubing?

Serum 08.14.2006 12:31 PM

You can also use o-rings HPI has got them, with an 8mm od

BP-Revo 08.15.2006 01:42 PM

These?

coolhandcountry 08.15.2006 02:10 PM

That looks like the ones. They work well to keep the dog bones in the cups better.

TraxxMaxx 08.15.2006 05:23 PM

The stock REVO driveshaft will work, provided you are using the Gorillamaxx Tranny. You will need to mount the tranny towards the rear or the REVO - This a good thing as it improves the weight distribution. Then by using three driveshafts, obviously one being cut to join the inner two driveshaft provides for a perfect fit. I will take a couple of pics tomorrow to show how this is done.

bluonyx 08.23.2006 01:58 AM

Hey TraxxMaxx, how about those pics?
