Bl Mgt
Hey guys i am a new member to this forum. I have a monster GT that i want to convert into electric and i have a few questions, First off do i have to cut the metal chassis or is there an way i could mount my e-maxx tranny to something? also i was wondering were could i get a long front drive shaft so i could have four wheel drive?
|
why don't you just use the MGT tranny... it's stronger than the E-maxx tranny..just make a mount, and use mod1 pinion.. and ur set....
|
this might be interesting to read.
When you use the stock transmission, you can use the gas/brake servo and the controller on the same channel, with a Y-cable. |

here is the thread on the two I have did. If you look around batfish did another one. The second one I converted was his to start. I don't know if the mgt tranny is as strong as the emaxx. If you put the steel idlers in it. It is tough cookie to crumble. I had a chassis idea of a bolt on emaxx trans. It was going to have a low cog like the gmaxx. I would run two longer shafts and put the trans where you want it. Mike can get the shafts if you have the lengths. Welcome to the forums to. Glad to see another mgt builder. |
how did u mount the tranny did u cut into the chassis or did u make a plate? also in the picture of your mgt i like where everything is set what length shafts did u use was it the 93mm and 103mm?? are those custom or could i buy them somewhere?thanks
|
The last mgt I cut the chassis and ground notches in the chassis to clear the screws. The bottom plate is accually helping to hold the tranny on. The first one I made plates to attach the tranny to the chassis. Both work well. I think i had the shafts laying around. Mike can get custom shafts for you.

hey guys i jus finished my e-gt i jus need sumtin to power this beast. do u guys have ne ideas
|
A contradiction;
'finished e-gt', 'need something to power the beast..' How many cells? |
My bro runs a 9xl on his with 16 cells. It does pretty good. I run a 1950 8t which is close to the same kv as 9xl. I run 16 cells as well. Some times 6s limn.
|
I run 12 to 18 cells with Feigao 7xl and BK 9920... I haven't had a problems yet...
|
sorry for the contradiction it actually tho is running right now i just have the stock titans in it. i was wondering with the combo you guys where mentioning how much are they and how fast to they go? i was thinking about getting W 1/8 Nemesis BLUE XLT- 4 motor 2hp @50000 RPM and a
BK 9920/c Speed controller |
Were did you get that from?? I don't really know what a XLT-4 is but a Feigao C XL from Mike would be the way to go. BTW, don't get a motor that will turn more than 40K RPM's on the voltage you are going to run. Any higher and they run hot and aren't efficient.

the xlt-4 motors are from fine design. i called them asking about the motors and they said " i've been in this business too long to give out alot of info." so i was left in the dark about these motors. my dad works at my lhs so i hang out there alot. this person, mikey, who comes in every once in a while and who is good friends with chirs fine, brought in his bl lst and buggy. they had the xlt-4 motors, he said that it is a double wind motor instead of a single wind, and they are an xl size can. so theres the difference. IMO buy from RC-MONSTER!!!!!!!!!! |
I wonder if they are a 4 pole motor. Any one know the site to nemisis?

if i am not mistakin they are exactly the same 2 pole motor as nemisis/feigao/wanderer, just a double wind for less torque and more rpm..... |
Sounds like CG hit the nail on the head. CHC, remember a while back when you said your Nemesis seemed to be different than the Feigao's and Wanderers? The rotor in particular. I believe you said it was segmented and the Feigao's weren't. Maybe a Nemesis rotor in a Feigao would be the best setup as far as Feigao/Wanderer/Nemesis go. BTW, what the hell did they mean by "I've been in this business long enough to know not to give out alot of info."?

No offense to FD??? why not?.... ;)
There are not many nice things anyone has to say about Chris and Fine Design. He is all about taking your money... doesn't even matter if what he sells you is completely wrong for what you need, or he gives you BS advice. As long as he gets your money, he is happy. After the sale... he won't talk to you unless you are ordering something else. At least that's the Chris I (and tons of others on the forums) have seen... He knows some about BL stuff, sure... he's been in the BL biz a long time. But he's never wrong about anything. And what he knows is boats, and we ain't runnin no stinkin boats around here. :D |
Lol...True, but I haven't had any bad dealings with Chris, but stuff like what CG said is pretty much all I hear about him. Anywho, he was rather nice when I burnt my 9920. He said nothing was evidently wrong with my setup and said send it in and I'll look at it and send it to Germany. A few weeks later he sent me a new one and BK said they would reimburse him for the one that burnt. Now I'm not sure, but I think it might have got a little wet :p. But they would have found that...
|
Yeah... I haven't been burned by him or anything, but I have talked to him a few times when I first got a bl 1/8 buggy going and bought one of the first nemesis motors from him. The difference in talking to him before and after the sale is very obvious.
Most of the negative feedback is form others on the forums I have read about... and the crap that he sold to them.... motors and controllers that we way wrong for the application, etc. It's just been enough to leave a bad taste... and let others know to be careful in dealing with them. |
I am not sure if the magnet was segmented or not squee. The windings in side look no different. I think I just had a motor that was put together better at the time. It don't hold nothing on lehner. I will soon try a neu motor out. I want to see what the good stuff is about them.
If you double the windings. Wouldn't that lower the resistance. In turn make the motor draw more amps. More amps = more torque and watts |
There is only so much room in the can for wires and I think they use whatever wire size/# of wires to fill the space. Higher turn motors have to use smalller wires and/or fewer wires of course.
For example, my Feigao 8L has a mass of wires that looks like a can of spagetti. I don't know if it's a double, triple, quad, etc... but's not a single that's for sure. And it's jam packed in there so something's gotta give if they want to change the wind or turn of the motor. So they can't just say "we doubled the windings" and have that mean anything in particluar. If you double the # of wires then the wires are smaller. None of the brushless motors I have seen are single winds....or even doubles or triples. In fact it usually looks like a "bundle", however many that is. :) Maybe their "special" wind is better... who knows. |
