It appears to be a re-badged E-Zilla (Hot Bodies), which is at least a little unfortunate, since several people here have said the E-Zilla isn't particularly durable. If that's true, it's a shame that HPI put the "Savage" name on it; "Savage" has become synonymous with "durable" in the monster truck category.

It would have been nice to have it come with brushless though - especially since that is the way the industry is going...

I wonder if hpi may have upgraded some of the drive train.
Maybe they going to come out with some upgrades.
This maybe a good thing for the guys with ezilla.

i had one during 3 monthes, it seems like a big toy to drive... i never ran a stock e-maxx but i can imagine that they are equal.
I sold my E-zilla back after applying 2x7cells + a carbon chassis. I have a good racer e-maxx, therefore it looked like a turtle for me... Stock tranny will not handle BL power...

What you have to know about this 10th scale MT, is that it's hard to find some replacement parts. There are no interesting upgrade at the moment for this truck also. After trying both i prefer my Maxx... so much things to do with this kind of chassis.

It's just a damned E-Zilla :frown:...Anywho, I don't thing FLM should even waste time making parts for it...Another indication that it's nowhere near the Savage state of durability is that is has sliders...Just like the E-Zilla..

i've herd that they might come out with a new designed e-maxx, that must be something to think about espesially when you need it as a roller.

i agree with squee and batfish....it's an ezilla, and puts a bad name on the savage for durability factor. On another note, you can't beat the maxx for options, and this thing is an insult to electric IMO....i would buy a nitro savage before this thing...IMO IMO

If the savage (real) diffs fit, all you'd need is a spool for the center diff

I think this is one of HPI's few truely pathetic vehicals. Honestly, it just isn't worthy of the Savage name. I am a hardcore Traxxas fan but I think the Savage is one of the few great MT's that isn't from Traxxas :p.

They could at least put cvds and better diffs.

Or actually Savage suspension and not just shocks....

They didn't even try and disguise the fact that its just the rebranded E-Zilla by changing the goofy body they used on the ezilla. They just changed the paint. That could be the worst rtr body ever.

I agree... VERY weak effort by HPI. The savage is great... Ezilla is not. I always thought they didn't originally release it as a Savage was cuz they knew it was a weak effort then.

If they was going for a e savage. They should have put a trans and new chassis rails. Then I would consider it a e savage.

right, when i saw the post on traxxas that it has relesed i thougt that he mistaked it for a e-zilla until i cheked it out at hpi

SQUEE how do you really feel :005: LOL. I heard from someone i know the traxxas already has a new electric MT in the testing stage. I dont know is it's based on a maxx or a revo. I also heard that slayden has al ready driven it some.

But i hope something revolutionary like the revo.

I don't like the battery mounts either, abit restricting, if you wanted to go more than the 6 or 7 cells, or even Lipo.
