the new hv 4.5

has any one tested out the new hv maxx 4.5 from novak yet???:024:  i was reading that it reachs speeds of 40-45 mph easy...what do you think about this new one they produced???is it worth trying out in my emaxx

captain harlock 08.27.2006 03:09 PM

If you're using a stock E-Maxx, then you can actually try it out. Novak is the best to use in a stock E-Maxx.

has anyone got the this setup yet for there truck????

Serum 08.28.2006 04:22 PM

Where did you see that 45 mph story? i am looking for a nice 4S setup.. perhaps i can give this a swirl..

neweuser 08.28.2006 04:33 PM

Many guys actually have converted to this set up and say they are happy. I disagree though the Novak is the best on stock. I used to run my 9920/10xl on 14 cells with no issues except the drive shafts.

squeeforever 08.28.2006 04:36 PM

Serum, it says 40 to 45 mph on Novaks site.

neweuser 08.28.2006 04:41 PM

Key words there, SAYS 40-45 mph....makes me curious in what vehicle and what gearing? Diffs?
Makes me think of traxxas. They say 50+ with the Jato 2.5, but not really! LOL

Serum 08.28.2006 04:42 PM

and 60 mph in a buggy!!

they really found some rare earth-magnets for their new motor!

squeeforever 08.28.2006 05:01 PM

Tell me about it....theres no way to get 60mph with less than 1000watt setup. I think the new 4.5 is only like 700 and something....But....I did read that the new 4.5 can beat a 9L...

neweuser 08.28.2006 05:14 PM

That's believeable i guess, but, at what heat cost? I know, i know, shouldn't knock Novak, but when i had the issues i had with mine!!! I'll only deal with Mike when it comes to BL stuff. I doubt the novak will beat my 9xl though! LOL

Serum 08.28.2006 05:22 PM

Got a link the that article squee?

neweuser 08.28.2006 05:26 PM

http://www.teamnovak.com/ here ya go...i believe this is the right one

squeeforever 08.28.2006 06:00 PM

Serum, if your talking about the 4.5 beating a 9L, it was on another forum were they talked about the 4.5 being realesed. It was a post from a guy that works at a hobby shop and they got one in. He installed it into a customers truck and the customer was gonna pick it up in a couple of days and said that if they wanted, they could run some packs through it. He said it beat just about everything except for a Jato. Including another customers 9L.

Serum 08.28.2006 06:03 PM

Okay, i guess the 9L was using weaker batteries or had another gearing ratio then.

squeeforever 08.28.2006 06:05 PM

Thats what I was thinking, but I wouldn't underestimate the Novak. The Velocity motors are wicked fast...

Serum 08.28.2006 06:12 PM

Yeah, i think that they would be rappid fast on a good 4S lipo! if they solved their thermal problems, it should be a nice setup.

My emaxx takes 14-1500 watts getting to topspeed, that's with the 7XL on 5S lipo's. I remember seeing the hvmaxx movie of harald-hans on 4S. it jumped from it's place. it was very agile. that was with the old HV-maxx. 35-38 mph with no thermalling and long runtime is more than enough for on the track.

Plus this HV motor is relative light.

squeeforever 08.28.2006 06:42 PM

Yea, I think it would be great for most racing... Most being the key word :005:. I think the HV 6.5 would be awesome on 5S LiPo. 2S on the BEC side, or use an UBEC. I think it could handle it. About like the EVX can be modded easily to accept 18 cells...

Mike.L 08.28.2006 06:47 PM

i bet the new price of an hv 4.5 with esc would cost about the same amount as a 8xl with a quark 80B. IMO i like the new 4.5 but the fiego c xl motors intrest me more.

does it come with an esc even???

cliccker985 08.28.2006 08:26 PM

have you seen anyone selling them on ebay yet????
