Finally! My own E-Revo! And it even runs...
 

Last night I finally completed my first BL conversion.
I used:
Revo 2.5R Chassis
Emaxx Tranny (G-Maxx single speed conversion),
RRP slipper
Stock Center Shafts (the long ones),
Steel Dogbones from FLM(?)
Fiego 10L Motor
MGM Compro 12012 ESC
UBEC
Gearing right now is 66/15 (seems good so far)
Traxxas 3 ch receiver,
Revo 5 cell rechargable receiver pack
I have no idea what the tires and rims are - the came with the original revo when I bought it.

Using all the other stock chassis conversions done here so far as inspiration, I dremeled myself into oblivion! There are quite a few things that I am going to go back and re-do, but I'm going to run it for a while and see how it functions, how easy maintenance is, etc.
I made my own esc mount from AL plate and AL brazing rod (my first time using that process - jury is still out on how the strength of the welds are). I also made the receiver mount and reciever pack tray from AL plate. The battery holders are .093 Plex, and yes, the two are built differently. Still developing ideas on that (my ultimate goal is to make something with tubing to also provide nerf bar like side bars).
Its been a very educational and fun job. I am one that tends to prefer making things rather than purchasing and bolting together (ie., G2R). Mine is a basher through and through, the only racing it will ever do is against my B'in Law's and nephew. Which brings up a point. I dont think I have my shocks setup correct. If you look at the pics with the body on, see how low it sits? I just rebuilt the shocks, with 50WT oil. I have the springs cranked all the way down, and it still settles down to where the arms are actually sloped down towards the chassis. The springs are golds (red with a gold spot). I used 1 hole pistons in the rear and 2 hole in the front. Any tips on what springs I should get?

Anyway, here are some quick pics I took last night. We are heading out to the ocean beaches for a week tomorrow, so I packing it up along with 2 of my emaxx's and possibly the stampede (2WD can be fun in the sand).

quite the collection you got there...nice...very nice...

nice revo, but can i say its super cramed it would be a hell of alot of un-screwing to get to the tranny or shocks.:D whoa lots of cars, must have been collecting for a while, 3 maxxes, wow!

Yes, your right about crammed. I wanted to try to keep it all tight and as close to center as possible. Improving on it is what comes next.

As far as collecting for a while: I bought the Stampede and Sledgehammer in June of 05. Those were my first RC's ever. I kinda went overboard a little! Those dont include the Emaxx, Tmaxx, and HPI RC-4 that I bought, fixed up and sold! I'm going to gear down one of the Emaxx's and give it to my 6 year old nephew. And one of the other ones is slated to be sold to my other 13 year old nephew. I got them both in good running condition for $150 and $125 through our local craigslist.

JThiessen, the reason the rear looks the way it does is because you have your upper arms in the lower position. If you put them in the upper position the rear will have a more relaxed feel and should handle better as well as fix the funny looking upper arms. Look at the bottom when looking at how low it should sit. The bottom arms should be level.

Squee: I never even thought of looking at that, for some reason I assumed I put them in in the correct spot! I get that switched and see how it handles.

I do have to reprogram my controller. When I let off of the throttle, it will do a forward flip! So that means I have interpret more Ukranian English!

It's not that there not in the correct spot, it's just that it looks funny in the lower position and thats the reason it looks the way it does. I, like Steve Slayden and many other racers, run them in the upper with the front in the lower because it handles alot better. Try it both ways, it should feel slightly different.

Understood - that is what I meant to say (by correct, I meant the postion for increased ground clearance).

What temp is "oh Sh%#" for the motor and ESC? In the short runs I made with it, it seemed fairly cool. But when we get to the sand, depending on which kind (hard pack/loose dune) I run in, I expect to see quite a variation in temps. I dont have any spare pinions that I can change out, but I do have a 70 and a 72 tooth spur (but then I'd have to pull the RRP in favor of the stock slipper). I also have a few different dia tires that I'm taking along. I even have a pair of sand diggers (dont know where/when I ended up with those!). Almost wish I had a pair of skinnies to put on the front with them!

I would keep the speed controller under 150 if possible - and the motor under 170 or so. I try to stay under 140 and 140 - if you can.. and watch that sand from the beaches - it loves to get places it shouldnt. Have fun...

Well, my gearing looks to be right - temps ran about 125. One thing I absolutley need is a wheelie bar - this thing will flip on its lid way too easy. I broke my stock body in half over the weekend. Anybody have any recommendations?

Hey it's dzlpower lol. I love your truck man, it looks nice. I wish I could do my battery trays like that. What would you charge to make another set? Right now I'm gonna just be using stock e-maxx battery trays, but I think some like that'd look much cleaner, and they're cool to boot.

Yes, its me. I would have sent these ones to you for nothing (I'm making new ones out of aluminum right now, complete with nerf bars). Unfortunatley, they went out in the trash last Tuesday!

Aww man! Darnit, shoulda said something sooner. Oh well, my idea's gonna get the job done.

just got my newly made battery holders/nerf bars installed, to replace the lexan ones I had before. Made them from aluminum .060 plate and aluminum tubing. I used the Aluminum "brazing" rod that you can find on ebay, just use a torch to get the ALuminum pieces to 726 degrees.....the jury is still out on how well it holds together. Sometimes it seemed as though it were nothing more than a cheap glue - but then it is only relying on surface adhesion to "weld" the pieces together.
Anyway, thought I'd share the results....
