looking for a nitro basher

I'm looking for a 4wd nitro vehicle to just mess around with. The only ones I own are the brushless e-maxx and sportwerks chaos. Either 1/10 or 1/8 scale is fine.

I saw that the new CEN GST 7.7 is coming out soon. any opinions?

neweuser 09.02.2006 12:11 AM

I would go REVO or SAVAGE
more towards REVO though

coolhandcountry 09.02.2006 01:42 PM

The savage is an awesome basher. I hear good things on revo. I watch
the videos around and see which one breaks less. I had a savage and it
was tough.

cabking 09.02.2006 02:21 PM

How about a LST 2. They can take quite a beating. they handle like a john Deere though. :028:

phidailo 09.03.2006 07:05 PM

yeah the main three are lst2, savage x 4.6, and revo 3.3. I only have experience with traxxas and don't have any bad things to say about them. I want the revo because traxxas has held up well for me but like the tall tough stance of the savage. lst2 can go either way i think. i know nothing about the gst 7.7 so i will probably not go with that when it comes out.

thank you for ur opinions

I think the Muggy would be my choice. Its got the handling of a truggy and the toughness of a LST.

cabking 09.03.2006 07:25 PM

What's a Muggy Squee??

squeeforever 09.03.2006 07:57 PM

It's Losi's new truggy. It's a truggy with LST front and rear ends basically.

cabking 09.04.2006 03:41 AM

cool.....gotta love those LST shocks

phidailo 09.04.2006 10:17 PM

You will not be disappointed, i have raced and beat on mine since i bought it when they came out and only broke one arm

neweuser 09.06.2006 02:25 PM

Good choice. Good all around truck, and many options to customize if that's a plan in the future. Easy to get parts too.

phidailo 09.06.2006 07:05 PM

it's reassuring to know i made a good choice. what upgrades are you talking about? i really haven't found much...heard they don't really need much upgrading anyhoo.

squeeforever 09.06.2006 07:39 PM

I would put a wing on it for sure. A wing, and pretty much all the Traxxas hopups will make it race worthy as well as a stronger basher. Like the center diff, I would definately get that w/ rear brakes. Stuff like the 40mm flywheel for instance. That little flywheel increases acceleration because its lighter and on my 2.5R, was a noticable difference. The FOC kit is a necessity. It eleminates ALOT of unwanted weight and complications as well as increases acceleration from less rotating mass. The Tekno RC stuff is pretty sweet as well...

Nice choice :)

You might also want to consider a different exhaust...cheap and easy way to gain power. The Trinity one is highly thought of.

I heard with the old ones that the heat from the exhaust made the rear shock ends go soft. I dont know to what extent this happenned (if at all), but you might want to keep an eye on it...they may have fixed it on the newer ones.

FOC is a must in my opinion. Did it on my MGT and shed a whole bunch of weight.

The Revo is a fantastic truck out of the box, you will not be disappointed

sjcrss 09.08.2006 10:51 AM

good choice....the revo seems like a good all around choice...you will enjoy bashing...

phidailo 09.08.2006 01:03 PM

seems to me that the revo doesn't need much upgrading. Any recommendations on what arms, rockers, and aftermarket shocks to upgrade to later on? I have the ones in the rc-monster and traxxas store...but just don't really know what brands to go with.

Also, which tuned pipe should i go with? traxxas resonator or vantage carbon? any others i am missing?

Tom F 09.08.2006 03:07 PM

Trinity make a good pipe for it...i wouldn't bother with a Vantage or a Resonator.

The two i would look at are the Trinity and the CVEC.

squeeforever 09.08.2006 05:16 PM

Go for the Resonator. It seems to be the second to none. I have seen alot of professonal racers stick with the stock because the power band is so smooth. Which it is. If you want it though, I have a RD Logics pipe thats pretty good. I think its slightly better than the Trinity as far as power to be honest...As far as hop ups, aluminum shock ends are a must. The plastic get really got in the rear and create ALOT of slop. As for rockers, stick with the stock P2's. Pushrods and turnbuckles, I would go for the Traxxas 7075 red ones. JD Carbon suspension pins are a good investment as well. As for shocks in general though, the GTR shafts and Teflon coated bodies with aluminum ends are the best way to go and can't be beat.

Puttinstankonia 10.01.2006 10:27 PM

Go with the muggy i just bought it and i love it.. it handles like a champ and will absorb any jump its crazy how sweet this thing is

phidailo 10.02.2006 03:53 AM

i already purchased the revo and it's awesome. i was actually debating between the revo and muggy!

Honestly the stock one is good. I haven't run anything else, but i'm giving truggies headaches at my track
