Project "CF Moster"

Dear Rc-Monster people, i am extremely sorry for the last couple of days , i dont know what i want any more, i want to start a project called CF Monster. I am in the process of cleaning my things, Mike, how well would the MSR5 shocks work with the 3 hole piston? I will keep you guys updated.

Sylvester 03.29.2005 07:47 PM

Update: Finished putting the CF chassis together, i decieded to rename the truck CF 29. Thanks for looking.

Whoops forgot a pic.....

RC-Monster Mike 03.29.2005 08:57 PM

The three hole pistons will need a very heavy oil to provide good dampening. I use the one hole pistons with 80-100 weight oil, as the piston holes are very large in these shocks. When using the g3 suspension, you can get away with less oil, as the leverage dampening provided by this suspension is very effective.

Sylvester 03.29.2005 09:16 PM

thanks Mike right now i am using the 1 hole piston and 70 weight oil, what is that black spongy thing that came with the shocks?

RC-Monster Mike 03.29.2005 09:37 PM

That is for volume compensation. They go in the piggy back reservoirs.

Sylvester 03.29.2005 09:38 PM

ok thanks Mike, are they needed or no?

RC-Monster Mike 03.29.2005 09:50 PM

Will the shocks work without them...probably. I followed the instructions when I built mine. I have not tried the shocks without the volume compensation sponges.

Serum 03.30.2005 07:26 AM

your chassis is damaged?

http://www.serum.demon.nl/krak.jpg

Serum 03.30.2005 07:28 AM

I used those sponges with my UE piggybacks, they don't absorb oil, the air that is in the sponge can't get out either.

It is used to compensate the volume of the piston when compressed. Usefull little things. they avoid air to mix with the oil.

Sylvester 03.30.2005 06:24 PM

yes i know, the chasis are chipped, this happened yesterday :(:(:(

toby 03.30.2005 07:11 PM

what did you do man?? that sucks

Sylvester 03.30.2005 08:35 PM

well i stripped a screw and i had to get it out and i used pliers, than all of a sudden, CRACK, well its ok, its not that big of a deal.

gorillamaxx 03.31.2005 09:41 PM

:( Stripped screws bite!

Next time try using a dremel to grind the stripped hole of the screw into an oval (or slot). Then use a flat head screwdriver to get it out.

Make sure you're using metric screwdrivers (2mm) for that type of screw. A good set of tools will make your screws last longer. Also, as soon as you notice stripping get rid of the screw.

The screws in the chassis kit are fairly tough - I'm surprised you've already stripped one.

Let me know if you'll need a replacement on you servo plate - I do have them in stock.

Sylvester 03.31.2005 09:43 PM

yup, stripped screws do bite, no george, your screws are awesome, i used these cheesy screws (silver) that had horrilble hexes, i switched to the black screws and they are fine, i will get a replacement somtime, thanks for the great quality

Hey guys, i got my first run and it was fun! But sadly my stock tamiya plugs melted together, :( I have to get deans plugs now, and i also want brushless, you guys will see my truck brushless somtime soon, i promice, and Mike, you will help me achieve this (i hope), will deans plugs ever melt together? And also should i get deans wire for doing the wiring on my ESC (9918), ? Thanks guys i will have some pics soon...

MaxxFusion 04.01.2005 11:22 PM

You will have not problems with Deans connectors.

Update on CF29, here are some pics, i still have to install Deans now.

RC-Monster Mike 04.03.2005 10:12 AM

Lookin' Good!

Serum 04.03.2005 10:19 AM

Yeah, i really like the CF frame, seeing your pics make me feel confident on my choice.. (i have choosen the CF over the aluminum)

What's next? FLM bulks?

Really sweet looking truck!

How much lighter is it, compared to stock?

RC-Monster Mike 04.03.2005 10:47 AM

Th CF chassis is about 2 oz lighter than stock. With the ext. kit, it is around the stock weight.

I've never had a set of deans plugs melt on me, and for doing a brushless system I would suggest that you hardwire it without using connectors.

Sylvester 04.03.2005 11:33 AM

well guys, i have my deans installed, yes bulks, diffs, diff cases, BL are all next, i am getting FLM bulks, integy diff cases( BLUE) , maxximizer diffs, fiegao 9l/warrior 9918, and a couple other things, the CF chassis seem alot lighter than stock, i dont know if its just me but the CF seems really half the weight of stock, it is also strong as a rock, that 1 crack i know you are thinking, why would he get CF if it cracked so bad, well that crack was a really hard hit, i think the aluminum wouldve bent really really badly, well i will have some more pics soon with some vids when i get my BL.

RC-Monster Mike 04.03.2005 11:38 AM

The only time I have seen a cracked CF part was due to a HARD hit with loose screws. If the screws are tightened all around, the thing is near bulletproof.

Sylvester 04.03.2005 11:39 AM

Thats soo true mike, but my srews were all tight, maybe too tight ?

RC-Monster Mike 04.03.2005 11:40 AM

I thought you damaged yours removing a screw?

Sylvester 04.03.2005 11:45 AM

Yup, it was beacause of a screw than a hit, i forgot to mention the hit, when i was changing all my screws to the ones the g-maxx stuff came with it was soo tight that i stripped a screw than, after that i installed everything and took it for a test run, (in base ment, ) i went off a 3 foot jump into the wall, i broke my front skid and the front plate, thats the story, Georges screws are really good, the ones i was using were probably the worst screws money can buy, oh well, thats life.

toby 04.03.2005 11:52 AM

i still like it a lot

Serum 04.03.2005 11:52 AM

Okay, i thought so..

I understood from your earlier posts that you ruined the chassis too, using pliers on the stripped screw, somthing like 'all of a sudden "crack' ..

Well, anyway, you could order a new piece if you think that's needed..

RC-Monster Mike 04.03.2005 11:53 AM

e-maxxes are a little fast for basement running! Not to mention big!

Sylvester 04.03.2005 11:54 AM

yup, i might get a replacement servo plate, right now its fine the way it is, not noticable when its all put together, yes e-maxxes are fast for the basement, and big, even tho my basement is big, its not big enough~!

toby 04.03.2005 11:55 AM

i run my 18t in my house:D

Sylvester 04.03.2005 11:55 AM

********Oh yes, my chassis are fine its just the plate.

Serum 04.03.2005 12:02 PM

Funny, that's what my girl says too..

That savage is WAY to big to run indoors...

I had a crappy transmittor (PLM type, PROTON) once my savage ran underneath the door (the doorpost is completely metal) he took of like an idiot.. Landed against a wall, and he was trying to climb that wall.. full speed.. Lucky we used glassfiber as wallpaper and had some paint laying around.. That was the last time i ran my car indoors... (till i got my new receiver/transmittor.......)

Sylvester 04.03.2005 12:37 PM

wow, did the savage do any damage
? LOL that rhymes, yes i dont run my truck indoors anymore.
