When for monster maxx?

Does any one heard anything on the monster maxx system?
I was wondering if any updates of any kind.
I am anixous to see another system on the market for the mt guys.

glassdoctor 09.12.2006 11:36 AM

As of a couple weeks ago they didn't even have any units in house to test with... only have made like two of them and they weren't even being tested.

They don't even know when beta testing will begin.

But Shawn says the controller is good to go when it's time, and it won't be a problem... the holdup is the motors. They are still working on motor design.

And they haven't decided yet on some of the final specs like max voltage. High voltage (very high voltage) parts cost more they say so it isn't a no brainer for them to do that, but it's a possibility.

I would say don't expect anything before the end of the year at least. Just a guess.

crazyjr 09.12.2006 02:33 PM

I know they have at least one they're playing with, this a quote from John Ford from Castle
Quote:

crazyjr...the Monster Max is still in development...you should SEE what this thing can do. Standing 360 backflip with a stock Emaxx!!! It got our 14lb aluminumized Emaxx up to about 50mph...no radar gun, but rest assured...I'm getting in front of those things with the radar gun just as eagerly as I did with the Max

Serum 09.12.2006 03:07 PM

Castle creation ROCKs. if they enlarge their product-range and use segmented magnets, you don't need another company for your BL setups..

I hope they get a lower KV as with the mamba-maxx and don't look at the novaks too much with their 4200rpm/v..

nl12 09.12.2006 03:47 PM

I would love to see a high voltage version 12s Lipo, 200 Amp with big heat sinks, built in fans, 5.5mm connectors, on-off switch, high rpm limit, good software, usb port.... I would pay 400-500 for something like that with a good waranty and fast service.

Serum 09.12.2006 03:51 PM

useless, but nice.

4-5S is more than enough for on the track, unless you are planning on racing the salt-lakes with a satalite rc-connection..

I don't thing that price is fair though. You know what you payed for your mgm and 2240.

glassdoctor 09.12.2006 04:40 PM

Shawn said they had a couple but he didn't even know where they were the day I talked to him. Hmmmm probably in his top desk drawer ;)

MetalMan 09.13.2006 12:02 AM

This is good info! Just can't wait for the beta testing :p.

coolhandcountry 09.13.2006 02:59 PM

A system that can do 6s is fine for me. Built in lvc to. Some thing with like a xl motor would work.

captain harlock 09.13.2006 04:07 PM

You think they can make it as powerful as the MGM 16024 esc?

There's a possibility, right?

Serum 09.13.2006 04:43 PM

Yes, that sounds plausible.

crazyjr 09.13.2006 06:10 PM

If they use the HV series as a platform, anything is possible. I hear they can hold 50v

coolhandcountry 09.13.2006 07:35 PM

Maybe they could build one for like 6s and the other closer to the air plane model they have out.

squeeforever 09.13.2006 08:13 PM

If they could do 80+ amps cont. (all I need for any of my motors), 6S LiPo, LVC, and 4 poler compatible, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

BrianG 09.13.2006 10:48 PM

Whatever its ratings, it's going to have a hard time to seriously outdo the Mamba Max. Since the MM can do 100A @ 4s, I'd imagine the Monster Max would have to be at least 120-150A @ 5s or 6s to make it a discernable difference.

captain harlock 09.14.2006 02:13 AM

Worry not, Brian. I'm sure they'll do it the right way.

glassdoctor 09.14.2006 02:54 AM

The Monster will be a 200A unit... plan is to double up on the fets.

The max voltage is undecided at this point.... the HV stuff costs them a lot more to build so I don't think it will be crazy like 10s+ but I think they will at least build it to do 6s...

MetalMan 09.14.2006 09:12 AM

Where did you hear/see the 200amps figure?

captain harlock 09.14.2006 10:37 AM

I believe you've been in constant contact with Castle Creations lately. Right, Doc?

glassdoctor 09.14.2006 11:41 AM

I have talked to Shawn a few times in the last month or so... they are understandably tight lipped about it and nothing is etched in stone, but it's pretty clear that they intend to double the specs of the Mamba Max. Take all such info as speculation... and blame me if it ends up different, not them.

They said the same thing at least a year ago...
1. create a 1/10 mamba
2. double stack the hardware and make a monster version

I think this is accurate info although I don't have any inside top secret clearance at CC :017:

And I don't think I am spilling the beans or anything.... just some general goals they have expressed for their product

Bottom line is the Monster will be a killer speedo.... IMO it will make the current Quark,MGM,BK etc look like barf... :020: :027:

coolhandcountry 09.14.2006 02:18 PM

Well if you double the mamba maxx. It would work out very well.
200 amp and 6s run. I can live with that.

squeeforever 09.14.2006 05:04 PM

Especially if its cheaper than the Quark...Don't get me wrong, I like the Quarks, but there not computer programmable...BIG advantage there for CC. Not to mention the issues with 6S LiPo. I think the CC MMM will be will worth it no matter what, and if its less than $250 I will certainly get one ASAP. Maybe I can beta test one with the BPP LSP on 6S :D.

captain harlock 09.14.2006 07:39 PM

I guess we have to wait and see.

Electric Dave 09.14.2006 07:56 PM

As much fun* as it is to piece a brushless system together, I can't wait for Castle to roll out the definitive E-MT brushless system. I know the Mamba Max took a while but in the end it's head and shoulders above the rest. I have high hopes the Monster Max will do the same for the E-MT class. I also hope they roll out a series of motors with it like they have with the 1/10th system. We don't all race (or bash or drag or whatever you do) so one product for everyone is a little too ambitious. Several to fill different needs would be great.

nl12 09.15.2006 08:04 AM

If it is a 8s or higher controler I will buy one.

captain harlock 09.15.2006 05:14 PM

I have some things I think I have to say it- in clarification to Doc's info-

The Mamba M Max is supposed to be two times the power and capability of the Mamba Max. This means the controller will be capable of:

200Amp cont.
6s lipos/ 18 sub c cells with the built in bec
4 or probably 6 big capacitors
8s lipo cells without bec and 24 sub c cells without bec
Price will be somewhere between $200-230

It's very possible.

BrianG 09.15.2006 05:37 PM

That would indeed be sweet! Although, I'd use a stand-alone BEC for anything over 3s lipo, unless CC plans on building a digital regulator instead of the typical linear one.

As more companies enter the BL market, competition will drive prices down, features up, and capabilities up. Gotta love it!

If they could do that and programmable like the mamba max and keep in to around 350 for the combo, I'll be first in line. I have a mamba max and am so impressed i'd buy one sight unseen

captain harlock 09.16.2006 01:23 AM

I hope they would, but even so, I have the Schulze 149.18 which I need to blow it up first and then go for a Mamba M Maxx.

BitHed 10.13.2006 11:22 PM

...the last word I heard is that they were away in the wilderness somewhere testing the Mon Max on 1:8 buggies at a secret track...Still no beta testing though...

Serum 10.14.2006 02:43 AM

Welcome to the forum BitHed.

I guess they went over to see CoolhandCountry LOL..

BitHed 10.14.2006 03:45 AM

Thanks :) Happy to be here ! I just had the MabMax / Feigao 9L E-Savage down at the park spitting dirt :)

BTW i read a while back that the Monster motor sizes were 1800 and 2200?

Replied to by PSP...

Serum 10.14.2006 09:28 AM

I don't know what KV they are going to use. I hope they are low. and not 'castle creation style sky high'

BP-Revo 10.15.2006 12:34 AM

Well, I hope they have a wide range, including one high one. I like high revving stuff.

You didn't supposed to tell rene.

Cool!!

Now if I just stay in the RC thing long enough to test it.

Serum 10.15.2006 08:50 AM

You funny Leroy...

captain harlock 10.15.2006 12:13 PM

Leroy, you'll be leaving this hobby? or are you just kidding?

Serum 10.15.2006 02:21 PM

Don't know if he is kidding about the time it's launched or if he is quiting.?

captain harlock 10.15.2006 02:26 PM

Haven't you noticed that his posting rate is not as hot as it used to be in the past?
This might tell something.
I'm also thinking about quitting, but not anytime soon, though.

coolhandcountry 10.16.2006 07:57 PM

I don't think I am going to quit captain. I haven't been around the forum as much. I have thinned my rc collection pretty good. I have some other things to sell off as well. Just been busy with other things. I haven't drove rc in over 2 weeks now.
I figured I let rene have the lead. ;)
