:) new project underway
Ha ha ha ha..... not telling what it is yet. :032: :010: :005: :031:
Hope to post some progress soon. :035: :035: |
Sure, tease us! ;)
|
Muah ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa !!!!!!!
|
I am about to delete this thread if you don't give us more info....
(not a threat, but a promise...) :p |
If you don't serum I will. It is not nothing posted that is any help to forum.
|
you guys kill me...lol
|
I'm guessing a quad LMT 3080 brushless monster truck with carboard chassis?... or maybe a dinner plate for the chassis, forks for the arms, spood for the skid plates.. and chopsticks for the cvds..... :)
what are you building glass.... |
No... same electrics as I have been using. Actually I want to do a 6s setup but I'm just going to wait for the MMM for that.
Just a different car. Uh I mean truck... no umm... buggy yeah buggy. Ok, it's another 1/8 buggy. I've traded my Jammin truggy off for a couple more 1/8 buggies. Just not telling which ones... Next summer I might do another CRT for racing... I hope I can get some work done this weekend and post a pic or two. |
Well, your ultimatum is set on 2 extra days, before this thread is deleted..
I was thinking about getting a team-magic M1 buggy to convert, no other buggy is more interesting in terms of new style engineering.. |
The TM buggy is interesting... can't wait to see one of those up close. And to see what it can do on the track. You think they can back up all the "smack" they run about the car?????
|
It's a Duratrax Raze?... :) :)
|
Ha ha aha haaha hahha hah aha hhhah haa a that would be funny dude.
I'll get a sneek peek later today.... |
I dunno if the TM is big-commercial talk or true engineering.
One thing i have my doubts about are the shocks.. The forces are not straight. Other than that, it's a pretty impressive design. |
This post lacks content, you wasted 2 minutes of my life, I want them back. :D
|
LOL Nick..
Give the gasdoctor a break.. Leroy and i will keep a close eye on this thread to make sure his contents will be visually upgraded soon.. |
Serum, I looked at the TM M1 and it seems to be a true engineering marvel...I think that will be my next nitro...It's just to pretty to cut up for a conversion..
|
Nothing is too pretty if you do a decent conversion Squee! i think this thing deserves a CF motorplate, and a tiny brushless motor, such as the neu 1509/1512 on 4 S lipo.
|
It's kinda cramped...Besides, it deserves a 1515 and 6S :p.
|
yeah, lets make it heavy... :p
|
But fast...I can't seem to find a good picture of the whole thing...Anybody know of one...

Ok... here's the new project. It's not as far along or as easy as I hoped for but it's at least something to look at now.
I messed around with a bunch of different layout options and I'm not sure what I'll do. I have a pic of a likely choice. Choice of battery has a big impact on what to do. I have a couple other layouts I like better but it requires a shorter than "normal" lipo like the @100mm ones. I only have the nickel-pack-size lipos now. (135-140mm) The parts are just laying in there... the diff needs flipped of course and the battery would actually be moved forward a little and to the left just enough to clear the center gear, which will be slightly smaller than in the pic. Anyway this is one option. Another I like is a layout just like the Jammin truck I did, with the motor in front where the fuel tank goes... basicly just swap the esc and motor in this pic... The chassis (main aluminum piece) is offset so it looks funny at first glance. Notice the shock towers or body mounts for a reference to the center. The side skirts are different sizes.. and the overall width is about 2" narrower than other buggies. It's interesting to say the least. Now we need someone to do a Magic buggy. |
Looking good! I love the Losi 8ight, but it's less than ideal for a BL conversion...
|
Pretty coool.
is that 4S 8000's? cool project man, i dig the mamba-maxx. Perhaps i need one for a nice 4S setup test-case.. LOL (all in the name of science) Those shocks look b-i-g.. it looks like tons of fun to build, that's for sure! |
Yeah... one of the reasons I pulled the trigger was because it looked like a PITA to do.
The goofy offset rear driveshaft screws up my preffered layout..... The car itself is both really sweet and kinda cheesy.... hard to explain but there are things that just don't seem right, or good enough compared to other buggies, but there are things that are cool. I like how simple the whole front clip is, less bulky and I assume lighter.... It's weird |

Here's a poor pic showing both buggies... see the difference in shocks, car width.... etc
I will get a better side by side later |

hehehe:018: man thats good stuff glass thats going to be sick i want to convert a buggy but my revos isnt done yet lol |
What about making a CF tray that is mounted to the metal part of the chassis, and extends over the dirt guards (but doesn't sit on them)? That would allow the use of all the area over the dirt guards. That what I was planning to do, but I want to see someone else to try it first as a sort of guinea pig. :)
With that diff offset, it looks like mounting the motor on top won't be an option due to weight distribution. Nice buggy! |

[Edit]: There it is! ;) |
for my lighting i made a aluminum plate to move the diff a little to the center. (dogbons had the right lengrh for it though)
|
Did you ever put 5S thru the mamba-maxx?
|
Yeah... the weight balance is a big issue.
The battery has to be double stacked compared to the Kyosho... so it looks really tall. But the motor will be on the chassis..... The layout in the pic actually feels pretty well balanced. The battery will have to sit just a little on the side skirt because the chassis is so narrow there, but most of it will be over the aluminum, and the straps, etc to hold it will be bolted to the chassis not the skirts. I'll probably have to put a cusion of some sort under the battery to raise a bit... maybe could do the graphite thing like you mentioned. |
No... no 5s for me.... but I have been curious. :)
Battery probably will be 4s 6000 or 8000 |
So am i.. Take one, in the name of science........ :) does the mamba maxx has a 5S cut-off setting in the software?
|

Check out these Eight parts vs. XX$ parts. This is hilarious..... :005:
And here's another possible layout, with shorter cells (about the like fouror five nickel cells) which would allow it to tuck in behind the center diff. No... no 5s cutoff... yet. :) |
Nothing beats a fresh boiled a-arm..
Here is what i wanted to do with my new lightning; Flip the centerdiff, use the motor in the front of the car and put the batteries on the opposite side of the center drivetrain on the rear. |
1/10 or 1/8? I forgot who had the 1/10....
|
1/8 I do believe...
|
yeh, 1/8th. sorry.. it's the stadium.. but the layout is basicly the same.
|
I did my truggy that way... motor in the front left and batteries behind the center diff on each side of the driveshaft... good layout and works with about any battery setup
|
Yeah, i must admit i use more decent sized lipo's than you, so i wanted to use them standing, but i don't think you can get your body on if you did.. LOL
