Where to buy Strobe Slipper?

You guys have sold me on the Strobe Slipper. But who has them? Everywhere I go they are out of stock. Help!

coolhandcountry 09.29.2006 01:14 PM

Best bet is ebay. The company has stopped making them for some reason.
Best slipper on market and they stop making them. Go figure.

neweuser 09.29.2006 01:15 PM

True...they were the best. Seems like that happens a lot in RC. Kinda like the Powerstroke shocks!

knotted 09.29.2006 02:52 PM

I'm sorry to see that Strobe stopped production. I guess I will have to stick with the Robinson slipper. Where can I get some 14 tooth 5mm bore 32p pinions, since RCM is sold out of them?

neweuser 09.29.2006 02:52 PM

i jsut PM'd the answer to you

Serum 09.29.2006 02:53 PM

You can adapt the ofna 51 spurs to fit the robinson slipper. How about that!?

neweuser 09.29.2006 03:06 PM

That would work yes! How about the pads serum? LOL

Serum 09.29.2006 03:24 PM

What about them? it uses the robinson pads..

neweuser 09.29.2006 03:29 PM

I was being sarcastic. I know they use the rr pads! Silly goose! i was wondering at one point if you flip the strobe pads if those could be used with the rr clutch set up....almost tried it on my girls truck!

Serum 09.29.2006 03:32 PM

LOL! the slots don't quite match the rr slipper..

It was too obvious that it wasn't a mistake Newe..

neweuser 09.29.2006 03:53 PM

HEHE, that's why you flip'em! have the smooth part contact the RR, don't think it would work properly, but hey, it's my girls truck not mine!!!!

coolhandcountry 09.30.2006 01:37 PM

They make a rr to fit a monster gt. I don't know if they have a plastic one or not.

Rtsbasic 09.30.2006 02:08 PM

Robinson Racing's slipper is a good quality peice..I used one on my Emaxx before I got a strobe for mod-1. Don't see much of a reason to upgrade unless you require mod-1 gears.

Serum 09.30.2006 05:39 PM

Good quality piece, but the slipper isn't consistent.

Rtsbasic 09.30.2006 05:46 PM

Fair enough, I admit I never used my Emaxx on a track with it fitted, only bashing, and it was fine for that - I run it pretty tight, so it only really kicked in on landings and violent takeoffs where the tyres actually got grip, so I didn't eat an idler.

rc4x4nut 09.30.2006 06:41 PM

Well I have a brand new slipper, black ofna gear, and sprong kit sitting in my parts box all NIP. I havent decided what I wanted to do with it yet. PM me and offer, I may just accept it.

knotted 09.30.2006 08:00 PM

Thanks for all the offers to sell me a Strobe. The problem is that I like to have a consistent source of replacement parts, especially pads. I hate trying to scrounge up obsolete parts at the last minute before I can run my truck. The RR slipper isn't too bad, but as noted it can wobble like heck! Hopefully, the Slipperential from Mike will be out soon.

rc4x4nut 09.30.2006 08:12 PM

No problem. I also a new set of pads to go with it. Finding replacement pads wouldnt be a problem. You can still get them direct from strobe. i emailed him not too long ago about them and he said he had lots left over.

BrianG 09.30.2006 09:51 PM

I have extra pads for my Strobe as well, but I found that once you get the slipper tightened enough where it won't slip needlessly, yet offer some protection, the pads last a LONG time.

squeeforever 09.30.2006 11:10 PM

It seems as though your only options are a used Strobe, a used Kippster, or a RRP...I have all 3 and the Strobe is the best, but...I think the Kippster would be the best if it used mod1 spurs. You can use a mod1 spur on a RRP but not a Kippster...Odd thing is that the Kippster uses the RRP spurs...Reason it won't fit is because the Kippster's mounting tabs are connected instead of machined out. I think its a little bit better..but...what ever...Sorry for rambling on...

crazyjr 09.30.2006 11:25 PM

I bought a few 52 tooth associated plastic gears for the MGT. I plan to try to adapt one to the robinson setup i got
