MGM 16024-3 for CAR USE ???
Hallo !
First, let me introduce myself in a few words since this is my first message in your forum: my name is marc, i am from germany and i like this forum very much. it´s the only one which is so close related to brushless applications for cars, esp. monster-trucks. i have got two supermaxxes, one with a lehner 1940/8 and bk controller 150amp, the other with big-maxximum and a schulze future 32.170. last week one schulze 18.97kwf went up not only in smoke, it BURNED and destroyed my steering servo. it was very expensive smoke. so to make it short - the mgm controllers are cheap and very strong, i will give them a try. My question to you: Here in the forum there is a sticky thread "MGM controllers are in" and Gustav ordered a 16024-3 for car use. The problem is - there is no 16024-3 controller for car use on the MGM website! There is only a 16024-3 BOAT controller which has no brake/reverse function. I cannot buy such a controller in the mgm onlineShop. Yes, the rc-monster store has a 16024 controller, but why isn´t there such a controller on the mgm website? Please don´t let me die stupid. Thanks. Marc. |
Their websites, probably out of date.... I bought mine from Mike and I'm happy with it... it's an awesome controller for the price.... it's powering my 2280 without a problem...
|
Yeah, that's it.
I had it on my 2250 powered savage. Works like a charm! We won't let you die stupid.. Have you PLEASE got a picture of this burned schulze? I would love to add it to my wall of shame.. |
Na denn herzlich Willkommen hier, das Forum sucht wirklich seines Gleichen...
Yeah, good to see that the German group get a bit stronger here:eek: And two requests: Pls show us some pics of your trucks, the specs sounds :018: to me and if you really buy the mgm tell me you it works cause i also want to buy one ... |
MGM works great!! there is reverse, proportional braking.. etc.. just make sure you get the one with the latest software.....
|
You won't be disapointed Maxxler..

Hi @all!
i ordered a 16016 on friday and updated my order to an 16024 today! thanks for the replies. if i had know that mike is offering the controller in his shop BEFORE ordering it online i had ordered it from him. sorry. Quote:
http://www.unlimitedengineering.com/...wf97fucked.JPG i had to pull out the controller QUICK as flames were coming out and destroyed my steering servo. I was so angry, i jumped on the controller and destroyed it completely. I reglued the parts for the photo. i am done with schulze. their customer service is simply toooo baaad. everything is blamed on the customer. the company isn´t responsible for anything. read their manuals! it reads as they are frightened they have the customer to explain how to use their products! i have an isl 936. the charger is good, but design and programmability are steinzeit. it is old fashioned. i like my robbe maxamp and my orbit much more. the future 32.170 i have is a goot controller, but it will definetly be my last schulze. This is my hardcore chassis maxx: http://www.unlimitedengineering.com/...hc_chassis.JPG the truck is FAST. it only has rear drive. i like rear driven cars, it´s difficult to do full throttle straight line acceleration since the ass is moving and shaking. it is oversteering vehemently, but i like it. 4WD is goot in high powered rc cars but in full sice cars i don´t like the understeering. i want to steer with throttle. the 1940 is a superb engine. This is my supermaxx with plettenberg: http://www.unlimitedengineering.com/...lightning1.JPG http://www.unlimitedengineering.com/...lightning3.JPG the plettenberg sounds good and looks good, but it is running so hot! i can do three packs with my 1940 and it doesn´t really get hot. if i do one pack with the plettenberg it BECOMES hot! why does a brushless engine need a fan? tomorrow i will do a test run with 22cells. the gearing is very soft, 15/74. BTW: all my cars are three years old and haven´t been moved over two and half years. i had no time to do my hobby... shame on me: i have no single lithium accu and still using sanyo rc2400, gp 3300, sanyo 3300. very heavy, but it works... Marc. P.S.: which is the newest software version for the 16024? |
Yeah, that's the way a schulze normally looks...
Probably a loose contact... http://rc.stuurmijmail.nl/BurnedSchulze/index.html |
Quote:
which contact do you mean? accu or engine contact? i canīt believe it. my bk controller is run with sidepacks. during runs one contact of the 1940 has lost contact. never ever something happened! believe me-i was running for three minutes with the schulze. turning. break. full throttle... POOOOOOF ! Flames and smoke. it looked horrible. :035: :035: :035: Marc. |
That's the worst schulze I've seen.... ;)

Although they say they're perfect as well

If they were perfect, they wouldn't be the size or Rhode Island...

YET ANOTHER BURNED SCHULZE
:) I burned 2 Uforce-75 and a Future 18.97 . Sure, loose contacts was the first Schulze reason for the first burning. Nothing more false ... They say that loose contacts on the battery side make resistance and this get the controller in flames. Even if it was, here we have a competence problem: if a motor side connector was loose, I could believe them, having a resistence phase doesn't help the esc understanding impedance and rotor position; but the ones from battery side ? This goes oput from my understanding. The second Uforce (burned after a week from the first one) was repaired in warranty, but they say me I used it with too volts for a 6600kv motor. True I used a 3s pack to see if the controller was still programmable. I did not throtle it, and they said that it burned due to the higher 3S tension used with that high kw motor. Well not true but they passed it by waranty. The future was burned with a feigao 380. Unbelievable .... a motor with less than 500 watt burned a 1600 watt capable esc ... and connectors were all right. Burned with a feigao (that I still use) and It did not burn with a plettenberg ... So I closed too with their ESC. But let me say they charger and balancer technology is really good. They have an old design, and they are cryptical to understand and to use, but the do their job in a really really good way. The Lipo balancer is wonderful. Anyway neither the chargers, neither the balancer have a polarity inversion protection, and the reason is that in their point of view it does not make sense: if you invert polarity you are not enaugh coompetent to buy and use their products, with a professional and warned use is a top reliable product. My 2 cents about Schulze. Ciao, Daniele |
Let me tell you dude... the MGM and the BK 9920 has outlasted "ALL" of my shulze controllers(except the 40.160WK).. I only have an 18.129 left... and it's in it's 4th time for repair... I will try to get a store credit or refund... it's just ridiculous... schulze gave every excuse...
loose contact (could be anything) motor wires too long... battery wires too long... connectors worn out... etc... (they're full of BS) I do agree a loose contact on the motor side will fry the esc.... I've done this on my air plane accidentilly... I think anyone who's owned a schulze has fried atleast one... :) |
I think Leroys the only one who hasn't fried one...Then agian, he has fried every other kinda controller...

1. Yes, I actually noticed you hadn't posted for a while
2. What the hell is knackered? lol 3. Thats a nice puppy! How old is she? |
You guys are making me shiver with fear!!!
My Schulze controller did short because of my hasty behaviour. I should save for a MGM 16024 as well. Marc, please give us a report on your MGM controller and welcome to the forums, BTW. |
Cool puppy!!
Group hug... where have you been.. LOL |

i crashed my emaxx today on fence a post, the left rear link of my UE racerīs suspension was destroyed, shocks and alu rim heavily bent. the left rear suspension got caught on the fence post with about 70km/h. NOTHING ELSE WAS DAMAGED. UE stuff is realy top. The rim is ready for trash... My MGM controller will hopefully arrive this week... than i will rebuild my rear suspension (i am waiting for the parts) and the show will go on! :027: BTW: The maxx is really fast with 22cells, big maxximum 15/68. To fast for my driving skills supposedly... I want to build a "T-Car" Maxx this winter so i can crash two cars on one day in the future... ;) One question to you specialists: Which roll cage is a good choice for an extended chassis? The new era cages are good, i have a titan roll cage but only in stock lenght, the extended version is not longer in production. I am DEFINITELY NOT GOING to drive a maxx that is heavy as tank without a cage... If my maxx comes down on the big maxximum this would be a desaster. Which cages do you prefer? Do you guys know why the extended lightning chassis is not longer in production? If the questions are off topic in this thread, the mods please let me know and i will open a new thread. Marc. |

Pup was 8 weeks in that picture,2 weeks ago,it's a Cairn terrier,i've got 3 terriers, voracious wee beasties they are. Serum, nice socks! i think they're rather dashing i must say. Edit;Roll cages,i'm not a fan of heavy stiff cages,i prefer to just use a proline body, seems to be plenty of protection to me,i use some expensive motors too and have never damaged one in a crash. However if you feel the need for a cage i'd recommend building a delrin cage as the most practical solution, enough give in it to absorb energy. Not the prettiest on a nice shiny truck though.Or maybe a simple aluminium roll bar to protect the motor without adding much more weight. |
