Crazy GorillaMaxx E-Revo
Have on order the 2 - 3s 8000 mah Maxxamp batteries from Mike and a custom inline LVC that Mike designed. This truck is going to move. :013:
Trying to break the 55mph speed limit. Anything above that will be gravy. What does everybody think? Good job or not? (Only nice things to say please!) |
Looks great! I would loose a few of those items though. I would suggest getting rid of the aluminum body mounts for sure. They will only cause problems. Another thing I would do is get the Traxxas aluminum pushrods and tierods instead of the Lunsford. I had some Lunsfords and they bent REALLY easy. The front pushrods are pretty suseptable to hitting stuff. Lets put it this way...My dad hit something with my nitro truck 1 time with the Lunsfords on it and bent one. He hit the same thing several times (clipped it the same way) with the aluminum ones and they still look brand new.

I suppose. If I'm not mistaken, the Traxxas ones are suppose to be stonger than titanium for some reason...I guess because there 7075.
|
Aren't the Traxxas ones hollow? 7075 aluminum isn't stronger than titanium, nor is titanium lighter than aluminum. Titanium pieces tend to weigh less because they can have more material removed from them while still keeping the same strength.
|
Yea, the Traxxas ones are hollow. Traxxas says that the aluminum tie rods are more the 2x stronger than titanium ones...There beefy as hell, but still light...
|
The Traxxas Turnbuckles are hollow, thus why they are called "Tubes." The hollow design coupled with the 7075 material makes them, according to Traxxas, twice the strength of a Titanium Turnbuckle and 4x as stiff.
The Pushrods, however, are not hollow. But they are 7075, which makes them very strong. Titanium is heavier than aluminum. Titanium metal is actually an alloy. Titanium in its raw form is brittle and rather similar to sulfur. However, when combined with steel and other metals, titanium alloy is twice as strong and 40-60% lighter than steel, depending on the grade of steel compared to the grade of titanium alloy. However, it is not lighter than aluminum. |
Not to mention titanium is EXPENSIVE...

The only thing I can tell you is that they are holding up so far.
I can't wait to get the batteries, this thing is going to fly. |
You were having problems with your batteries heating up what was it?
How do you like your BK20150 controller your the first person I've seen with one. BTW NICE TRUCK you did a very good job on it. |

I changed the rear body mount to Integy with black plastic post to see if it is stronger then the Trinity mount. So far holding up. :027: As far as the battery problem it turns out it was the batteries shorting out against the chassis. :mad:1 I ordered from Mike new blue cussions for the batteries and I shrink wrapped all my batteries instead of some of them. I also replace the UBEC with a new one. I tried it out with two different runs on Sunday and I did not have any problems at all. Now onto the BK20150 controller - what can I say but IT'S GREAT. I don't like the fact that it has two wires for each lead to the motor, (that makes a total of six.) It makes it difficult to solder two wires that thick to a deans connection and then add the bec wire to it also and then of course I needed to shrink wrap all of that. This was a royal pain in the but. However setting it up could not be easier and disabling the the bec was real simple. Performance and speed is not a problem either, it does what I want it to do immediately. However I had to put my speed controller braking down to 50% because it was stopping to hard. The sparks under the truck was the front of the chassis hitting the ground during hard braking at night. That is why I lowered it to 50%. Heat is not a problem anymore. Since I been playing around trying to fix up all the problems I had, heat is no longer a problem. Sure it gets warm on the batts, eng. and the esc but not burning hot like it was. Thats why I have the 2-3S 8000MAH Maxamps lipos on order from Mike. Now that everything works perfectly its time to run it at full speed. :027: P.S. I finally bought the Bushnell radar gun 10-1911. I found it online at a local wharehouse and I picked it up for $90.00 (no tax/no shipping.) I am going to try two high speed passes: 1) Two six packs of GP3300 batteries in series. :007: 2) Then 2-3S 8000MAH Maxamps lipos. :043: |
that incredible man thats the best looking revo yet imo how much $$$$$$ in that thing????? i bet atleast 2 grand
|
I spent too much, if you add up the batts and the charger and the controller I already had it is approx. $3500-$4000.:020:
Like I said too much money.:035: However if it does 60 mph I will be very happy. :027: :004: :026: :013: :043: |
By the way, I never updated my diffs so I expect to be upgrading them next. Didn't want to change that until last only because it is the only part of the truck that you can not see just by looking at it.
|
Mike has got some new hybrid housings on the way that use 1/8th scale diffs. I'd wait till they came out before I upgraded anyway.
|
I'd look into JDCarbon.com pushrod and turnbuckles. Better and stronger then both lunsford and traxxas. Yet to bent or brake mine. My 2 cents..
looks good. Not a fan of integy but still looks good! |
I saw the article in the magazine. I am probable going to upgrade once I crash these. No reason to spend double money are parts I don't need yet.

We should all be buried with our trucks.
As far as revo vs. emaxx I'll take anything as long as it is fast and fun. |

|
lol such a kind man lol.. so what kind of pinion do u run with the moster spur? is it rcm mod 1?

Speed
So I bought the Bushnell 10-1911 radar gun and wow it works great.
I tried about 10 speed test using two different sets of batteries. I am using in series 12 sub-c 1.2 volt each batteries. Top speed was 46 mph - average speed was 40. I had a lot of runs between 37 and 42 mph. Still waiting for the Lipos I ordered, when I get them I will do another speed test using them. two 6s 8000mah maxamps - hopefully I will crack 60 mph. Only problem I had was my son was holding the radar gun and got hit by my truck. He only has a scracth that God but my truck flipped over end to end and killed one of my axles and one of my body posts. Good thing I swiched over to plastic body posts - its only about a thirty second repair. BTW what should I replace the MIP axles with. Replacement MIP or do you guys recomment a different one? |
I'm curious, nobody responded to my last post. Is 46 mph slow or are you guys waiting to see the lipos in action? :032:
|
It's a good speed. IN regards to the mip's, if you want to replace go with UE's, they are great, IMO, they are a much better set up.
