What do people think of the 1950 and MGM24160?

Do you think a 1950/8 on 6s would be a nice setup?

That is definetly a very nice setup.
Very fast and efficient.

I never tried the mgm with that motor. But I can say I liked both of them seperate.

What about Neu motors? Is there much difference between the Neu equivalent and the L1950?

As far as I have heard and seen, the Neus are a bit more effecient than the Lehners, but they have some big vents, which might get you some trouble. They're cheaper, too. Some of it come with built in heatsink for extra cooling.
As for the MGM, lately, no one complained about them at all, but I skipped them from the wishlist of mine for the Monster Max's sake.

I have a 1950/7 and the MGM24160 on 6s and it works great. I have a fan on the MGM, nothing on the motor and everything stays cool.

Like Coolhand said, I like them both seperately also, but they would be a perfect match for eachother IMO.....

The MGM is a pain to program, has poor support, and the 3.5mm connectors get very hot, but it has alot of programing options and doesnt thermal as easy as a Quark.

Really?.. I find it easy to program...

but true, the 3.5mm connects sucks for the kind of amperage taht esc is good for.... I want to send mine in for 5.5mm Upgrades.. but too lazy to hit the post office...

Would a Neu 1515 1.5d/F be good on 6s? It's 2700kv.

Nope...That would be worse than the 7XL....Shoot for 35 to 40K rpms...

No, that's about 1000kv too hot. (the 7XL you wanted to use is 2200 kv, and that is too hot allready)

I dislike the 3.5 plugs on a 160A controller..

MGM's comment 'you will never use the 160A continues, for a car 3.5mm plgus are fine...'

My comment 'don't rate it for 160A when the plugs can hardly do 20A...

I see, so if it's around 50k RPM it's too hot?

How do you exceed this RPM then, more volts? I just want something as quick as the 7xl on 6s but more efficent and cooler. I guess I can't achieve that with the same voltage.

yeah, when I first saw the 3.5mm plugs on a 160A esc.. I was concerned myself...

Shoot for 35 to 40K. It will be most efficient in this RPM range, thus running cooler and allowing to gear up as well as put less strain on the esc.

Yeah, that's true... I like more around 40 - 45K....
but you have to love the sound a brushless motor running over 100000rpms...

Sorry for the hijack... but.. I once aciddently ran a cheap himaxx 5500 rpm/volt motor @ 22.2V.... she moved my 15Lb e-maxx pretty good... and after a few minutes... I heard cracks... and the magnets looks like small stones...

but my MGM is still kickin'.. ..
