Lvc ?

Where do I find the LVC on Mike's site? He said it was auto detecting and about $30.00 I can't find it.

The hautz man has hooked you right up.
He pointed you to the right direction.

neweuser 12.23.2006 01:34 AM

The good thing is, it's the car version!

Serum 12.23.2006 05:27 AM

Yeah, normal plane lvc's go to 0 percent.. since 0 percent is full reverse on pistol grips, i guess you can tell what will happen if it kicks in..

pinolelst 01.31.2007 10:56 PM

I know this thread is a little stale but I was looking for an alternate LVC other than the "li-saver" for my nearly complete Cen MAtrix since it seems a little harsh when it kicks in on my LST . This discussion made me look to see if there really was a "Car" version of this LVC and don't see anything but either "Opto: or "BEC" versions. http://www.flydma.com/catalog/produc...products_id=53
Only difference is the way the ESC is coupled up apparently but no mention of anything other than the airplane version that pulses the motor on and off when the voltage drops.I wonder now if my perceived harshness of this LVC isn't caused by Serums observation of the "0" positions of the pistol vs stick type radios.Does anyone have an alternative with perhaps a softer alarm ......slowing the truck gradually instead of trying to force it into reverse?? Thankfully reverse is disabled on my esc or I suspect things would be even worse with that LST tranny and 2 speed trying to go in reverse.:007:
Anyway Thanks
in Advance

OK... I cant really help you with the LVC question, but I am interested to hear the answer too.

However, I would love to see pictures of your Matrix conversion though. I love my Matrix conversion and Im interested to see how you did yours.

This is where I'm at.Waiting on the feigao 540c 8xl to get here and the new body to finish it off.I made the battery holder from carbon fiber 80/20 cloth laid up in 4 layers with a piece of depron foam sandwiched between the 2nd and 3rd layers on the bottom so I'd have some depth to cut holes for the mud guard nuts.I used a block of foam as the form and wrapped it with cling wrap to act as a release film and wrapped the outside tightly with the same stuff to give it at least a 1/2 baked finish.
The battery strap bolts are holding it to the deck as well as velcro on the inboard side to act as a sort of leveler.
I also epoxied together some carbon ribbon I had laying around to make the BEC/receiver mount to get them up off the deck.I need to find one of those antenna expansion nut doohickies that fit in a drilled hole or fabricate something for the antenna as well.

thanks

I like it. It looks good. With that CF battery tray and the layout it looks alot like mine. Looking forward to finding out how it runs. Keep us posted. What kind of lipó are you going to use?

hyperasus 02.01.2007 03:07 AM

How many cells can be used with this with this Li-Saver. Is it good for 4s applications?

coolhandcountry 02.01.2007 07:35 PM

What is wrong with the li saver? As long as you get the car version you ok.

Thats kinda my point.I can't find where there's a car specific version. Other than having an inline deans connector I don't see where the one sold here is any different in alarm function than the one shown on the makers page. The only diference there is either opto isolated or not.
Just looking for alternatives that perhaps don't go off so violently.Maybe it's specific to the LST and it's drivetrain but the dang thing bucks like it backfired or something when the LVC kicks in....

Thanks

The ones mike sells is supposed to be a car version. I haven't got it down far enough to know yet.

Go to RC monster store and the car version is there as CHC said. I have drained mine to the limit. It just coggs then dies out. It didn't shoot into reverse or anything. FYI

Just curious: what is the volts/cell cutoff value of the Lisaver? Is it 3v?

neweuser 02.02.2007 11:13 AM

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it is. Or, it might be 3.2, for some reason 3.2 sticks in my head...
I would say that it's not the best idea to drain them this far, i only did it for testing purposes. You can tell however that the batt does slow down before this point. I noticed a dramatic change in the performance minutes before the batt dumped.

coolhandcountry 02.02.2007 11:24 AM

3 volts as far as I know.

I need help with my LiSaver that I bought from Mike, here's the story (also mailed to Mike):
---
When I first connected it to my E-Maxx truck BEC side (stock radio and Hv-Maxx ESC, MaxAmps 8000 LiPo) it worked fine for about 30-40 seconds after that the truck wouldn't move. I disconnected the Li Saver and all worked ok. Connected the Li saver back up and it "puffed" and a slight sign of white smoke appeared. I let the Li saver sit for a while (30 minutes) moved it bit off from other electronics and now it seems to work but I have doubts if I can trust it or not.

After this incident I havent really ran my truck due to a radio change got the new 3Pm 2.4GHz in. Since I wanted to verify the LiSaver I tried it out with my 7 cells NiMh's.
All is fine when running 7 cells NiMh's without the LiSaver.
If I hookup the LiSaver however strange things happens.
Transmitter is turned on first then the car.
The car is idle for about 2 seconds but after that it's FULL THROTTLE !!!
I just barely managed to save it from slamming into a brick wall.
And all this is without me even touching the transmitter which as I said is turned on.
I have reproduced this three times, the last two with the pinion off :-)
If I remove the LiSaver all is working as expected. I have a masters in Electrical Engineering so I am not all lost among the wires in my car.
Should I need to reprogram the ESC when LiSaver is connected - I can see why ?
Any other ideas ?

neweuser 04.04.2007 09:12 AM

You should reprogram due to the new radio. But unfortunately, mine LiSaver did the exact same thing! What controller do you use? I reprogrammed mine last night and put in a new rx, seems fine for a short run......but not sure how much I trust it....with that said, reprogram, then have someone hold the truck and try it out before you let it go on it's own to be sure it works....also, make sure you get the distance measured too.

miniGranis 04.04.2007 09:45 AM

I did reprogram the ESC when I swapped the new radio in (without the LiSaver connected), but NOT when connecting the LiSaver.

I am using the Hv-Maxx ESC and Futaba 3PM 2.4 GHz version.

neweuser 04.04.2007 09:49 AM

Try to reprogram with the liSaver

miniGranis 04.04.2007 03:17 PM

Well reprogramming with the LiSaver connected failed, the ESC lights up but it doesnt get any throttle signals. I am pretty sure I found why though:

:005:

Now I just need to sort out the details with Mike.

neweuser 04.04.2007 03:19 PM

WOW, looks like it pulled the connections right of of the esc! Maybe from when it got cooked?

miniGranis 04.04.2007 03:28 PM

I dont really know when it happend but there has been no heat involved. The pins you can se on the picture connects to my ESC wire so it's not even close to the ESC. It's not the ESC pins you are seeing its the end that connects to the ESC wire but with the plastic housing removed.
Both receiver and ESC are fine.
