im stoopid...

so i know nothing about the big brushless motors... ive owned 1/18th brushless stuff, but it was much easier to understand what i needed.
ive looked throught this forum and read plenty.. but damn dude!! reading "you need a 9956 to hook up the 4452 which will make the 3351 too hot!"
what the hell? i cant understand what anyone is talking about!! lol..

i want to go brushless on my emaxx, but this is a toy... im serious about buggys these days. the maxx is for intermission fun!:005:

right now its stock, ive decided on the flm chassis(was gonna go g2 but i dont like the batts so low for a basher), probably the hybrid diffs cases, and flm towers. im going to upgrade the drivetrain with revo stuff, i have tons of that crap still!
aside from that im only gonna fix what breaks..
i do have some 7 cell packs, so im lookin for a low cost bashing quality brushless set up. im not racing or trying to impress with brand names really...
i see several here that look good, but im not sure which to use? i have no idea what im lookin for.

could someone hook a brotha up with links to what i should buy? any other things i might need to keep it in one peice is welcome too.

again... this is not my primary rc, far from it. i want to make it as fast and as cheap as possible.

thanks!

linky, linky!!:027:

Hey man i am using the same setup but i went with the gmaxx chassis because it was too cool to pas up. As for a system go with the mamba maxx and 7xl 540cand a ubec. This will give you the most bang for the buck you get a good motor and fast and a good castle ecs. IT is all on the site mike does have a sale going on now and that may fit you needs.

revopqrs 01.03.2007 12:40 AM

hmmm... so this controller?
http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail..._MM_ESC&cat=20

and this motor?
http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...540C_XL&cat=20

this B.E.C.?
http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail.php?prod=6vubec

i really like the gmaxx chassis... but i cant get over the batts hanging out of the bottom of the lid!
if i go flat pan chassis, i might as well turn it into a truggy with a center diff... i dont wanna go in that deep! lol..:002:

thanks man.:027:

ROFL! That's about the funniest damn thing I've read in a loooong time!! :D :D

Smilie faces cannot convey the laughs I got out of that! :wipes tears from eyes:

It's a whole different language. :)

Then just lower the body. LOL i am just kiding i know what you mean but the links seem to be right.

revopqrs 01.03.2007 01:06 AM

lol... ya gotta love when they attach numbers for names of things.. who came up with that idea anyways? its like what they say about computer geeks... they intentionally use a technical language that normal people cant understand!! it makes them feel smarter i guess?

why isnt anything labled "compatable with emaxx"? i dont have a clue how many amps to be lookin for, and the 7xl, and 9xl... what tha?
does it fit a freakin emaxx, thats all we need to know!!
are their really that many other big electric mts that people put brushless motors in? what is there 2 or 3 trucks total in production?
they could make it much easier if they labled the stuff "1/10- 1/8 mt"
thats all im sayin....

so if you can lower the lid enough to cover the sides of the packs how come noone does?:024: i always see the packs hanging out....

GorillaMaxx360 01.03.2007 01:53 AM

i hear you BUT for some they want to know all that jazz about the amps cell watage, and such. sometimes i even need to know this stuff

I dont know man it would seem better for the aero dynamics and it would look cooler i know that is what i am doning on my maxx. The rule is the body must be flush with the bottom of the chassis.

If your looking for a low cost reliable basher I would go with the BK Warrior 9920 ESC instead of the Mamaba Max. Not as many bells and whistles as the Mamba Max, but made for use in that type of vehicle. The Mamba maxx was really not intended for a monster truck. It was meant for a staduim truck size application. It works, but the Warrior 9920 is more at home in a MT size truck. http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...od=9920warrior But if your going to do it.... Do it quick. Not sure how much longer the holiday special will last and then it goes back to $200 instead of the $150 its on sale for right now.

I think the other stuff you have listed below is good. The 8XL motor from the link you posted below is good. On 14 cells that will be a very powerfull fun and reliable basher. I'm assuming here that you want a set it and forget it system. You would proabbly even have some headroom on that system to toss in a couple more cells if you wanted to on occation. Id start with gearing around 18/66 or 20/66 locked in second gear, and I would also recomend this (http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...rod=RCM03idler) as a must get upgrade. The stock plastic one will not last long with that brushless setup.

Edit: The way you feel reading this stuff is the way I feel with the nitro stuff... Nothing really makes sense, nitro tuning is just kinda like black magic to me...:007: :002:

sjcrss 01.03.2007 09:29 AM

I would have to agree with jhautz....about the warrior 9920, it is very simular to the micro 2095 im running in my gmaxx....... they both accept upto 20 cells, while the warrior is rated for 4 more amps than mine is, and I have no problem running a feigo 7xl on it.....especially on 14 cells, which will be upgraded to lipo by the end of the month..... so that is my recomendation......

revopqrs 01.03.2007 10:38 AM

awsome guys, i appreciate it!!:027: i look forward to seeing my emaxx brushless! ill post some vid when its done!:030:

do i need such a gnarly BEC? $37 seems kinda high? or is that a good one?

do i only need one idler? ive never even opened the tranny on my max...

sjcrss 01.03.2007 10:47 AM

I have used a simular one like this, and have never had any problems, just remember to pull the little jumper plug, so your servo's will run on 6v...instead of 5v

I can personally say excellent things about this UBEC. It small, Light and it just plain works. What more can you ask.

As far as the idlers... You probably only need one. Once you switch to brushless, you will just to lock it in 2nd gear anyway. You won't use first gear, its not necessary with the torque of the brushless system. If you want to use both first and 2nd gear get 2 idlers. But I would just ditch the shifting servo, lock into 2nd gear and repalce the 2nd gear idler.

@revopqrs: I hear what you're saying about the model numbers, but they actually DO mean something once you get the hang of it. Some examples: The BK Warrior 9920 is an ESC capable of 99A and 20 cells. The motors listed as 1940, 9150 are the high-end Lehner motors. The number in nXL is the number of turns for that motor; and the "XL" refers to the length. S=small, L=long, XL=extra long.

Then there's the acronyms: MM (Mamba Max), ESC (Electronic Speed Control), BL (brushless, BEC (battery eliminator circuit), UBEC (Ultimate or universal battery eliminator circuit), lipo (lithium polymer), etc.

It's not that we try to sound smarter than others, we are just lazy and don't want to type as much. Ever use Unix on a computer? That Operating System is a classic example of lazy people; many of the commands are only two letters!

GorillaMaxx360 01.03.2007 12:14 PM

Hey man it is for one shock tower. I just purchased two of them and they are great the look sick and they are so adjustable and they will not break. Plus they allow for wing mounts.

revopqrs 01.03.2007 12:17 PM

ohh man... that website? i put together my order, then when i went to check out it made me register and i lost my shopping cart? no big deal.. ill make a new one, well now one of the items i wanted says its "temporarily out of stock" because its in my other lost shopping cart!! arrgggh!!:mad:1
now i have to wait an hour for it to show back up in the store...

i just thought they were cool lookin!:005:

GorillaMaxx360 01.03.2007 12:31 PM

man i totally hear you on the coolness that is why i am getting a par and they also strengthen the bulks what more can you ask for.

jagboy 01.03.2007 01:00 PM

If you stick a fan on the ESC (the fan would draw electricity from your UBEC (a necessary part)), the Mamba Max and 8XL on 12 cells would be a killer combo. I have a Mamba Max on 12 cells and a 10XL (torquier but less rpm/top speed than an 8XL) in a Savage (weighing in at 11 to 12 pounds) and it's plenty quick. There is enough torque that if I floor it from a stand still it can flip on its lid and have enough force from the flip to bounce back on its wheels. Crazy torque. And that's a Savage, which I'm guessing is heavier than an Emaxx (am I right?) Anyway, my point is that I fried a 9920, but my MM hasn't had a problem yet and I absolutely love (looooooooooove) the programmability of it (throttle curves, brake curves, not having to trigger program it.)

Brushless is fun, but expect to break parts from the power.

Dont wait to long on ordering the Warrior 9920 Speed Control if thats what you want. I think thebholliday special is going to end soon and then the price goes from $150 to $200.

revopqrs 01.03.2007 01:31 PM

i might just order it on friday when i get paid...:005:

i just ordered the flm chassis, idler gear, grey new style bulks(i can explain if needed), bulk braces, alum diff input collars, a towerpro 208 in/oz @.13 servo($20!), and a ubec.

im thinkin i need a hex screw kit also... phillips heads? yuk!!
any advise on that?:032:

GorillaMaxx360 01.03.2007 01:36 PM

RC Screwz and a 208oz servo for 20bucks nice grab. Though for that price it might be to good to be true i would read some reviews on it it might be very un relyable for that price i would be scared of the performance, but then again i just might be good.

revopqrs 01.03.2007 02:34 PM

ya... its probably a blue bird... but for $20 ill give it a shot! i tried the blue birds, they didnt work out.:019:

i need them screws!! i forgot how miserable it was to work on these things with a phillips crew driver!:007: bad..

i just made a new end of summer vid if anyones interested? it has mts, nitro and electric, buggies, truggies, a jato, and a micro t. we run em hard!:028:
