50 mph Plus on 4S

Did a little testing today on 4S lipolys. The motor was a little slow turning for the volts of 4s but ran well.

The combo was Twinforce
2240/10
20/51 gearing
12020 speed control
Maxamps 4S lipolys

Thank you,
Promod

cemetery gates 01.07.2007 12:55 AM

Cool! how did the twin handle at that speed; i got one too...

Bye:018:

Promod 01.07.2007 01:01 AM

It handled great. I've got a short vid if I can ever figure out how to load it up:mad: .

Thank you,
Promod

Promod 01.07.2007 01:16 AM

Here is a link to the video. Hope this works:026: .

Serum 01.07.2007 04:25 AM

Promod; What 4S packs did you used? the 4000's?

Got some pics of that twinforce?

Great work.!

jollyjumper 01.07.2007 06:26 AM

thats really fast for a twin!

captain harlock 01.07.2007 06:45 AM

?????!!!!!

Your truck did not stutter when taking off?

50mph?!!

In a Twinforce?!!

4 lipo cells only???!!!

Strange?

Dafni 01.07.2007 07:53 AM

Remember, the TF is very light, Captain.
Its nitro sibling, the 3-speed Madforce, with a good engine is a ver fast truck.

Thanky for sharing Promod.

Right now I am trying to bring back my TF too. It's definitely a fun truck.

Serum 01.07.2007 07:58 AM

Does it use silicone oil in the diff daf? i remember it seeying at your place, i was impressed by it's quality.

The truck weighs 9.5 pounds RTR without the GPS. I'm using the Maxamps 4s2p 8000 mah. The truck does not stutter and will wheelie very easy.
Serum, the twinforce uses 1/8 th buggy diffs front and rear.

Thank you,
Promod

Serum 01.07.2007 12:43 PM

Great! that's not the stock chassis, is it?

Your 2240 saw quite some cars over the years.. :p

Serum 01.07.2007 12:44 PM

Barry; have you got any graphs of these cells? and are they the new 50C thingies?

coolhandcountry 01.07.2007 12:54 PM

That was pretty cool. That looks like a newer 12020 as well.
Did you have any idea on the amps it pulled?

Promod 01.07.2007 12:59 PM

The chassis is a Thundertech racing Ripper. Yes that motor sure has seen some ACTION.

Thank you,
Promod

Promod 01.07.2007 01:20 PM

Have not run the eagle tree on it yet but will try and get some graphs for you guys. Yes that is a new 12020 and I think the cells are the new ones.

Thank you,
Promod

Here are the graphs on a speed run.

Thank you,
Promod

jollyjumper 01.07.2007 02:27 PM

hey, how does the twin handle with the diff versus the stock setup?

Promod 01.07.2007 02:32 PM

I like the center diff much better than the transmission.

Thank you,
Promod

jollyjumper 01.07.2007 02:34 PM

thanks:027:

Serum 01.07.2007 02:37 PM

What runtimes do you get?

Serum 01.07.2007 02:49 PM

Thanks for the graphs Promod.

If these are the new 50C peak maxamps packs, they are dangerous close to the bottom, considering they are 2P, I expected more at 125A load. (3.1V) They should be able to deliver these small bursts at 240A

Did you get them with 12 or 14 awg wire?

rcjmaxx 01.07.2007 02:51 PM

I wasnt able to see the video, but are the tires ballooning on top speed runs? What brand tires are you running?

Serum 01.07.2007 02:52 PM

Those are HPI dirtbonz on RPM rimms.

rcjmaxx 01.07.2007 03:06 PM

Are the Dirtbonz known for ballooning? I assume theyre duct taped.

captain harlock 01.07.2007 03:14 PM

Ummm..I have a couple of questions:

Promod, you once ran the SuperMaxx with the 2240/10 and 9s. Do you have any idea how fast did it go with that setup?

Also, does the 12020 which you have, uses lipo voltage cutoff?

Thanks.

Serum 01.07.2007 03:17 PM

the 12020 has got no LVC.

the dirtbonz do balloon, but with a centerdiff you don't need to worry about it too much. For stability, duct taping them might be an option.

cemetery gates 01.07.2007 08:37 PM

Promod, you have the thunder tech chassis there? I didn't know that it was even in production yet.... very cool!:004:

Bye:018:

Promod 01.07.2007 09:39 PM

The wires are 12 awg. Don't use an LVC. Not sure about the run times, will need to check that later. The tires are dirtbonz and are not duct taped. The tires balloon like crazy with 6S but with 4S its not that bad.
Captain harlock, never made any speed runs with the 9s. Couldn't keep the truck on the ground. I hope to continue that project soon.
Cemetery gates, yes that is the thunder tech chassis. It is one nice piece. I think it was one of the first sold. The chassis are available now at thunder techs web site.

Thank you,
Promod

Sylvester 01.07.2007 09:45 PM

Very nice, Promod! Why dont you run with an LVC? Or do you just do a couple speed runs and charge? Really fast!

JB3231 01.07.2007 10:00 PM

Awesome

Serum 01.08.2007 03:01 AM

If the wires are 12awg, and these are the new 50C cells, something must be wrong IMO.

captain harlock 01.08.2007 03:16 AM

I wonder how fast would it go with the EVO20 4900mah 4s pack?

Speed would certainly go higher, dont you think, Rene?

Promod 01.08.2007 10:18 AM

Sylvester, never really checked into an LVC. Always just keep checking the pack with a volt meter.
Serum, the packs on maxamps site says "New 20C MaxAmps Lipo 8000HV 4S2P 14.8V Pack"

8000mah Capacity
14.8 Volts
44mm X 137mm X 50mm
20C Constant(160 amps)
30C Sustained(240 amps)
50C Burst(400 amps)
725 grams
Comes with Apache/Hyperion Taps

Not sure if these are the new 50C cells you are talking about. Please excuse me, I'm a little behind on some of the new stuff.
Captain harlock, better cells would make it go faster thats for sure. A motor with a higher KV than the 2240/10 should be faster too on 4S.(if the cells can keep up).

Thank you,
Promod

neweuser 01.08.2007 12:59 PM

Hey Promod! Very nice truck man, it looks like it flies pretty good, and that's just 4s! Do you plan on adding more cells later?

captain harlock 01.08.2007 01:56 PM

Okay, how about trying the cells sold by FlightPower( Evo20 4900mah)? They're quite strong and to tell you the truth, I've shorten them a few times and they were absolutely intact. They're worth every single pinny.

Promod 01.08.2007 02:35 PM

Neweuser, Ran this truck/motor on 6s many times. But with 6s the truck is very hard to drive. The truck is much better on 4s, Power with Control.
Captain harlock, would love to try a set and compare. Where can I buy the Evo20 4900mah online in the USA?

Thank you,
Promod

that makes total sense, no fun if you can't really drive it!

Serum 01.08.2007 04:32 PM

I think it would be cheaper to get them from flightpower.co.uk.

Check their 2S superpack; www.trakpower.com on a 100A load, they claim to hold a 7V

jollyjumper 01.08.2007 05:54 PM

flightpower themselves have a usa division, dont know site do.
it is also online store i believe.
