Flextek vs. Fastlane

Hey, i want to upgrade to 2.5 length suspension arms; just want to know some peoples experience with both of them, the Fastlane's are pretty cheap, this has me in a bind.

Does anyone have any pics of the Flextek arms installed on a maxx truck?

thanks

Mike.L 01.08.2007 05:56 PM

i wouldn't take flex tek because i doubt you would need that mutch durrability, who will litterally jump off 30+F jumps. and the price it 300$

the fast lane machine are super durralbe aswell and they have a good warrenty.(5 or 6$ to replace an arm) not badd imo and 100 for full set.

i would go for the flm.

but personally i would use rpm arms on my truck because im all for performace then looks.

neweuser 01.08.2007 06:25 PM

What Mike L said, go either RPM or FLM

GorillaMaxx360 01.08.2007 06:39 PM

Yes i have pics here they are they are mine and i will probably be selling them mid summer not because they arnt good but because I am going with an erevo. They arms look great and the are strong but have flex for absorbing impacts they are expensive but they are good and they do have a free replacement guarantee, if you can find some for cheaper than 300 go for it but if you are just buying them for 300+ shipping and tax it might not be worth it but they are cool. BTW they do more than just add strength heres what Else they do. Heres some pics they are in my opinion the best standard arms(meaning -my own definition- meaning they bolt right up to stock and they are traditional arms using not setback option, and using stock hubs) did i mention they look sick heres some pics. where is the image web adress box.

Mike.L 01.08.2007 06:52 PM

you'll be pleased with flm or rpm no doubt.

GorillaMaxx360 01.08.2007 06:54 PM

It wont let me post pics in this area of forums so here is a link to the pics

I bent a few cvds while using RPM arms, I'm not sure if it was just coincidence or the fact that they are more ply-able than stockers. I also run a four shock setup and have pulled the screws out of the lower arms a few times. I like the Prolines the best, I have only bent one pair of cvds with them and that was my wifes friend from church who gave it a full throttle shed hit. They also have a better two point connection for the lower shock mount, havent tore on out yet, knock on wood:018: .

I vote for the FLM's. Great value and a great warranty.

Serum 01.12.2007 06:38 PM

Can't argue with that.. Their warranty and value/price is awesome

They weight more though.. and they get scratched soonder.. and they are not titanium.. and lack of flex..

Procharged5.0 01.12.2007 06:49 PM

The flexteks may be the ultimate basher arms. Not cheap though!

Mike.L 01.12.2007 07:20 PM

100$ or so....ahh I also in favor for flm on this one.:)

coolhandcountry 01.12.2007 08:40 PM

Does the flex of the flextech bend hinge pins?

MetalMan 01.13.2007 12:46 AM

It shouldn't. Titanium will flex, but then go right back into shape. Steel and aluminum don't flex like that, which is why titanium is used in some cases. Besides that, the strength/weight ratio of titanium is quite high!

Serum 01.13.2007 03:48 AM

The titanium hingepins will be bent with flexteks. but so are plastic arms.

coolhandcountry 01.13.2007 09:13 AM

so you need to run a ti hinge pin with the arms?

zeropointbug 01.14.2007 06:49 PM

wow

wow those are nice looking arms. The thing is that the Flextek's will never have to be replaced, and they will always look good, they don't scrape up like aluminum do they?

Well, i will think about it, mean while i'm finishing designing my new chassis from 7075-T6 alum. on Alibre CAD (i just got it for 50% off year end). I must tell you, you guys are going to SHIT your pants once you see it...

Thanks guys

Mike.L 01.14.2007 10:07 PM

lol..i dont know if it will get that out of hand,:005: but im looking forward to the chassis. you going to use a center diff for it? or tranny?

Procharged5.0 01.14.2007 10:17 PM

Ditto. Looking Forward to seeing it.

I have bent the titanium pins with both RPM and the FlexTek's (pain in the ass to get out of aluminum bulks!) but would say if money is no object get the Flex's, titamium is cool to watch spark when it hits the concrete!

Bring it on! But let me tell you, you have no idea what some of us have in our RC garage... so the threshold for wet pants may be higher than you guess.
