Just got her together.

Very impressive. I like the paint job alot, did you do it or you bought it that way? I don't normally like wings in the back but this is an exception. Great work!

It was a bluelight special I picked up for $19. It came prepainted.

I like the FLM but compaired to my Gorillamaxx it took alot of grinding. To get my batteries to fit in those oddly shaped sharp edged trays.

I also had to grind some of the post off the bottom rails to get them to sit flush in the bottom of the top plate. I had to debur most of the parts. I only got to drive it a little. Being higher than my Gmaxx it still handles pretty good. It does seem to have a bit of a front weight bias even with the batteries all the way front. With batteries it weighs 10.6 compared to 9.5 for my Gmaxx. I'll have to see if I can perfect my back flips. I'll have to wait till it gets warmer it was 19 when I got home this morning, winter is finally here:031:

Sylvester 01.11.2007 05:02 PM

looks like a beast with the vbs:) i just noticed that you you used velcrow on your lipo.....

GorillaMaxx360 01.11.2007 05:52 PM

When you uy VBS how do you get the diffs in there because arent they sealed shut or am i missing something. Pic would help.

Mike.L 01.11.2007 05:54 PM

oh....wow ive never thought about that... because it starts as a giant block durring milling. hmmmmm.....? yea i want to know.

GorillaMaxx360 01.11.2007 05:56 PM

am i missing something because in this pic(the seventh one in the set) it looks like it is welded shut or milled shut.

Mike.L 01.11.2007 06:00 PM

hmm there has to be a way because it would be impossible....lol

Procharged5.0 01.11.2007 06:04 PM

The diffs are inserted thru the bottom then covered up by the skid plate.

Procharged5.0 01.11.2007 06:04 PM

BTW....I'm jealous! I've always wanted VBS's but they are just so damned expensive!

Mike.L 01.11.2007 06:06 PM

hey thats smart, no more taking the whole thing apart! HA it rymes:005:

I put a piece of velcro on each slat of the battery tray and one long piece on the bottom of my batteries. Its easier on your straps, adds a little protection to the bottom of the battery, and it keeps the battery from squirting out the side during an epic crash. I got my industrial velcro at walmart they sell it in the knitting/sewing area of all places. It is very tough to get off, I had to use a needle nose pliers to get the piece off for the picture.

GorillaMaxx360 01.15.2007 02:06 PM

What kind of cvd do you have at the front of the vehicle is it the rc monster one if not or if so will the rc monster ones work (the one mike sells that come in two sizes 72 and 101) if they will work which one will fit with flm chassis and gmaxx trans.

smhertzog 01.16.2007 06:24 PM

MIP front stock length

GorillaMaxx360 01.16.2007 06:26 PM

which legnth is that is it the same legnth as the ones for the gmaxx chassis that mike sells.

smhertzog 01.16.2007 07:13 PM

Yep 72mm should work for the front. http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...T_DOGBONE_72MM

GorillaMaxx360 01.16.2007 07:43 PM

Thanks and is your chassis polished or does it come like that looks very smooth.

smhertzog 01.16.2007 08:40 PM

It came that way it has a brushed aluminum appearance. The sun and the flash make it look glossy.

Sylvester 01.16.2007 09:15 PM

I think a nice aluminum finshed with a mill is nicer than polish, i dont know why but it gives it that "fresh" look other than a kind of "fake" metal look, or maybe i dont like polished aluminum because it hurts my eyes... Procharged... LOL

yeah, your right the polished alunimum looks like its molded alunimum. It does look nice when its milled you have a shiny peice of alu and it gives you the scratched effect.:o

Sylvester 01.16.2007 09:28 PM

I guess we have atleast 1 thing in common! :005: :027:

revopqrs 01.17.2007 01:09 AM

wow... very nice truck dude! i hope mine can be that sweet one day...:024:

captain harlock 01.17.2007 08:06 AM

Good job, mate!

wow i thought the same thing that is why i do not like super polished things sometimes it almost looks chrome and when i see that it makes me think it was made bad(molded) i also always think of GMP when i see polished stuff that is weird that we both think that when it is polished it looks cheezy/molded/made bad and that is why i like the look of a machined/milled aluminum it IMO shows quality in the item.

OK! OK! Geeze! So you don't like the polished finish! I can't stand purple anodized finishes! :020: Bla! Bla! Bla! But that's just me. Others may love it.

That's what makes RC Monster trucks so awesome! Build it the way you want to! I'm not sure that there is a "wrong way" as long as you enjoy it! My first E-Maxx was brushed silver wih blue anodized parts. I've always wanted a fully polished Supermaxx so that's what I'm building now. The average guy CAN'T polish parts like I can so that's partly what will seperate mine from the pack. Plus I like polished aluminum.

Maybe you guys will change your mind when you see it complete, or maybe not.

Will it hurt your eyes? Probably! :005:

Sylvester 01.17.2007 07:32 PM

Dont get me wrong, polished aluminum is the ultimate in bling!

One thing i dont like is the eye part. Heck, if i had the skill id polish anything i could ! ;)

Mike.L 01.17.2007 07:43 PM

go polish away but its not worth getting dirty then:028: :028:

You might be right. If the upkeep on it drives me nuts it wouldn't take too long to change the finish to brushed. We'll see.

(I could have it all anodized too. That could be interesting................)
