Expert advise for Building Full race E Revo

OK guys here is what i'm getting and some of them i already have
1.Gorillamaxx Carbon fiber Kit
2.Mike's up coming 1/8 diffs and slipperential (hopefully it will be coming soon like next month? Hi Mike!)
3.MGM 24 260 controller and Hacker 11 or 12XL Motor
4.Nomadio React Transmitter
5.Extended wheel base kit (either tekno or Traxxas)
6.Cvds for sale here
7.two packs of max amps 8000mah 11.1 v 3 cell lipo
8.proline 1/8 scale wing and tekno wing kit
as for the ultimate wheels/tires and what adaptor do i need like 23mm dace?
any help and suggestions are really very much appreciated

Sylvester 01.12.2007 10:20 AM

Sounds like a good list, id take bow-tie MTR tires on dace 23mm adaptors..

what is the best servo to get regardless of the price? Is thet airtronics selling here is enough or the other hitectitanium servo for $115? thanks

Serum 01.12.2007 12:37 PM

Loose the hacker motor, it's a 2pole without segmented magnets. Since you are using the MGM, get a Neu instead.. more motor for a good price.

luvsrc 01.12.2007 02:34 PM

segmented segments? what neu motor to get for a 6 cell lipo? thanks for your reply serum. what is the advantage vs the hacker motor besides the semented part, is it a 5mm shaft as well?

Procharged5.0 01.12.2007 03:33 PM

I'll start and let Serum finish......

the NEU offers 4-pole vs 2-pole for increased torque. The NEU is also built better (IMO), runs cooler, is more efficient, has better magnets, and arguably better customer service.

Go with the knuckles, 8mm axle kit, and 23mm hubs from RD Racing. Its the best setup money can buy. You just can't use CVD's, which i prefer sliders anyway...

Serum 01.12.2007 05:12 PM

The knuckles are fair priced IMO, has anyone got any more info on them? are they CNC machined from one piece or molded?

squeeforever 01.12.2007 06:50 PM

Cnc.

Thanks for the advice Squee, does rc-monster carry all of those ? if not can you provide me a link to buy them? thanks again

squeeforever 01.13.2007 12:57 AM

I don't think Mike can get them...Here ya go.

Serum 01.13.2007 03:51 AM

Mike can get you anything in RC land, these knuckles won't be an exclusion i guess.

MetalMan 01.13.2007 11:30 AM

Those 8mm axles do look nice. I wonder if RD Racing would sell everything in their kit besides the 23mm adapters (I run 17mm). That should lower the price a bit, and I don't have any intention of running 23mm hexes.

squeeforever 01.13.2007 12:36 PM

I was wondering the same thing because i would kinda rather run Dace adapters, probably from a CRT.

luvsrc 01.13.2007 01:53 PM

17MM AND 23MM adapters, sorry i'm kinda lost ,is it length wise? or the diameter size, i would like to run truggy specific tire/wheel combo, is 17mm better than 23mm, sorry i'm new to revo truck

squeeforever 01.13.2007 03:10 PM

The 17mm and 23mm is only referring to the hex size. A standard Maxx for instance, is 14mm and tend to strip easily with brushless. If you don't have either 17 or 23mm rims, I prefer 23mm (because of all the rims to choose from), but with all the 17mm rims out, it really doesn't matter anymore...I have a few sets of 23mm and no 17mm, so I just stick with 23.

Sylvester 01.13.2007 05:06 PM

I used 14 cells and a lehner 1950 and didnt have a problem with stock revo hexes.

squeeforever 01.13.2007 05:28 PM

It mainly depends on your rims...

Mike.L 01.13.2007 05:30 PM

the huricanes should be fine with stock hexes.

squeeforever 01.13.2007 06:56 PM

Personally, if this is gonna be a race truck, and you want the ultimate in durability, reliability, etc, get the RD setup...

BrianG 01.13.2007 08:17 PM

I had all kinds of problems with the stock rims/tires on the Revo, but a set of good maxx-size wheels (extended offset for more width) has held up great. I've never stripped a hex yet and I've run it hard. You really have to make sure the wheels are tight on the shafts; I can see them stripping for sure if they get loose.

squeeforever 01.13.2007 08:42 PM

Brian, did you ever bend an axle stub? I don't really run my trucks that hard, yet I bent a couple...

BrianG 01.13.2007 10:00 PM

Nope. It must be difficult to do that. The only way I can see it happening is to slide sideways into a low wall (curb) or something at speed so that the bottom of the wheel is forced in, but usually this breaks an axle carrier if anything.

squeeforever 01.13.2007 10:29 PM

It's actually not hard to do. :005: Alot of racers had that problem (I'm guessing from hitting the wall, pipes, and jumps wrong) so thats why they developed the 8mm axle kit.

luvsrc 01.14.2007 12:23 AM

thanks for all your responses, i really like this forum because you guys help out a lot,i do appreciate you guys for your time.

I will be posting pics on some of the parts that i already have. this will probably be an update for the making of my erevo. This will also serve as a reference for those who wants to build thier own E revo versions especially for racing.

You guys have any news for the up coming revo slipperential and 1/8 diffs?

I was breaking axles carriers for that reason until I got the RPM ones. Everything seems to be holding up fine now. I really hope I don't start breaking axles because the RPM carriers came with new, different size bearings and I would have to replace those again if I got the 8mm axles. BTW: where do you get the new 8mm axles??

luvsrc 01.14.2007 12:51 AM

What do you guysthink about those aluminum extension wheel adaptors that increases the width into 1 inch on each side fora total of 2 inches in width?

squeeforever 01.14.2007 01:20 AM

That would do nothing but cause problems. Mainly the bearings and axles...Bent axles and ruined bearings are a certainty...

BrianG 01.14.2007 01:23 AM

I agree with squee. If you want a little wider stance, I'd go with a rim with a little offset. It won't give you 2", but it will certainly help stability and put less strain on your axles bearings, and steering servo(s).

luvsrc 01.17.2007 03:56 PM

Hres some of the pics ,it is in the progress, still considering neu if my budget will be enough, waiting for the slipperential and 1/8 diffs, iwill be using 2 packs of 4800 lipos

Sylvester 01.17.2007 05:04 PM

Great start!

What motor is that ; hacker C50?

Procharged5.0 01.17.2007 06:17 PM

Nice collection of parts! It will be great when it's done!

luvsrc 01.17.2007 06:34 PM

yes it is a hacker c50 , i actually sent it back to hacker brushless for bearing replacement.the controller is MGM 24 160 great controller.
